Funk's Corner - Television / Video is the Heart of the Wrestling business.
As a promoter, booker and writer in the wrestling business I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best talkers in the business.
In the Florida and Mid Atlantic territories in the 80's we were blessed to have great interview people working their own style of interview. The first that comes to mind is Ric Flair who spoke of how great his opponent was, referred to professional wrestling as "This Great Sport," and finished off his interview with his trademark, "Whooooo."
In the Amarillo Territory in the 70's Terry Funk led the way often asking to be the first to cut an interview on promo day to put the rest of the talent in the right mood for interviews. Terry's talent on interviews continues today. He is versatile doing the wild and crazy heel interviews calling people names like "Egg Sucking Dog or Anorexic Barbara Busch and at times doing very sincere interviews.
In the old school days of the Amarillo Territory one day Terry called everybody a name he heard in a song, "Nothing but a Junkyard Dog." It wasn't long after that there was a Real Junkyard Dog facing Terry and I in Wrestlemania 2.
In the old Florida Territory Hulk Hogan watched as the Mighty Igor performed his feats of strength then called the Mighty Igor, the Mighty Ignoramus on an interview and we were on the way to capacity business with Hogan vs Mighty Igor.
At the Funking Conservatory, we work on interview skills every day of training. Our current group of athletes have excelled.
Interviews for our next show, Support the Troops 15, "Power of Pain" coming Sunday April 15th are now up on our website at www.dory-funk.com. Go to "Next !BANG! TV Taping."

MATCH 1: PCW TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: LUKE BRONSON(c) -vs- "ESSENCE OF EXCELLENCE" ROBERT EVANS
Evans attacks Bronson during his entrance to begin the match. Evans was in control until Bronson took over. The crowd was definitely behind Evans but Bronson landed the Brokeback Slam to retain the championship.
WINNER AND STILL PCW TELEVISION CHAMPION: LUKE BRONSON (12:35)
STREET FIGHT: COLOSSUS (w/ ANTONIO) -vs- MACE MALONE
A great brawl in which the crowd was very with Malone and very against Colossus. Many fans had Antonio yelling at them and Colossus almost got into it with a fan. Antonio set up a makeshift table with sheetrock placed over two road signs. Malone reversed a superplex and drove Colossus through it. Malone almost had it but Antonio pulled out the referee. Malone then dropped Antonio with a one arm slam eliminating him from the equation. But when he turned around, Colossus was up and delivered the chokeslam for the win.
WINNER: COLOSSUS (w/ ANTONIO) (14:55)
Colossus carried Antonio to the back since he was still laid out.
TIM STORM made his way to the ring and grabbed the mic. Storm said tonight we were going to find out if he made a mistake in letting Franco D'Angelo in the Dark Circle.
RESPECT MATCH: APOCALYPSE -vs- FRANCO D'ANGELO
During the match both men were sent outside only to have Storm toss them right back in with both men questioning why he did so. Storm ended up being hit by both men. Franco didn't wanna be thrown in so he dropped Storm. Storm tried to hit Franco but hit Apoc and Apoc nailed him too. Apoc nailed a devastating powerbomb on the floor. Franco tried a russian leg sweep off the apron but Apoc countered, leading to Franco suplexing him back into the ring. Franco missed a top rope dive and one of my fav superstars, Apoc picked up the victory.
WINNER: APOCALYPSE (6:58)
*After the bout Apoc and Storm put the boots to Franco until "SEXY" STEVE DEMARCO made the save! DeMarco sent The Dark Circle out of the ring and posed saying "I'm back." He helped Franco up and the two shook hands only for Franco to TURN and deliver a spinebuster slam to DeMarco!!! With DeMarco laid out, Storm & Apoc returned to the ring, Storm had a mic and said he always said The Dark Circle wasn't about wins and losses but about making an impact. And Franco just made an impact and he deserved a spot in the Dark Circle! The three celebrated and left together as the completed Dark Circle once again.*
*THE BUSSEY BROTHERS came to the ring. They announced that tonight's scheduled tag team match would no longer take place because Rodney Mack has gone back to WWE. (I don't think he has) Anyways they announced they would take his place, making the match a handicap match.**
PCW CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: BRETT IDOL(c) -vs- "THE EXPERT" BRANDON COLLINS
A great fast paced matchup that ended after Idol missed a chairshot and was dropped by Collins who then took the win and the title with the Springboard 450 splash!
WINNER AND NEWW PCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION: "THE EXPERT" BRANDON COLLINS (9:23)
HANDICAP MATCH: CANYON & THE BUSSEYS -vs- ACTION JACKSON & MIKE FOXX (w/ JEFFERY YAWS)
Foxx and Action, despite being outnumbered, were in control for the majority of the match. Action got a huge reaction. Canyon charged at Foxx but Foxx pulled down the top rope and Canyon went toppling over, allowing Action to hit a double Big Booya on the Busseys for the 1 2 3!
WINNERS: ACTION JACKSON & MIKE FOXX (8:48)
**Canyon and the Busseys were sent packing as Foxx and Action celebrated. They shook hands and embraced...until FOXX TURNED ON ACTION !! Foxx delivered the jumping ace crusher to Action! Foxx looked grim and walked off up the ramp. But he stopped as Action was returning to his feet. Foxx returned to the ring armed with a steel chair and laid Action out with a chair shot! Action was busted wide open. Foxx delivered not one but TWO more chair shots! Jackson was dripping blood at this point as Foxx left without explanation. Action's blood stained the ringmat and his wrist bands. Fans were left in shock at what Foxx has done. Action was helped to the back by three officials.**
MAIN EVENT: PCW WORLDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: NOBE BRYANT(c) (w/ KATIE ANGEL) -vs- WALLY DARKMON
Nobe came out first then the lights went out and when they returned, Darkmon was perched atop the top rope. Darkmon leaped onto Bryant and the battle was on. Nobe swung Darkmon into the rail busting him open early on. After a dispute Darkmon leveled the referee and he went down. STephen Murphy attempted to interfere with a cane but was fought off. KATIE ANGEL got involved and then she ran to the back. Nobe nailed Darkmon with a foreign object and covered making the still unconscious referee count but Darkmon kicked out! Bryant wasn't happy with this so he dropped two elbows on the ref. Darkmon fought back and nailed the CANADIAN DESTROYER FLIP PILEDRIVER ! Darkmon covered and TERRY STEVENS ran out for the count 1. 2. 3!!
WINNER AND NEW PCW WORLDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: WALLY DARKMON (13:56)
The crowd erupted and Darkmon was overjoyed parading around the arena with the championship. Darkmon posed in various spots in the audience as well as ringside..until Terry Stevens YANKED the belt out of his hand! Then it was announced..
REVERSED DECISION !!! : WINNER AND STILL WORLDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION VIA DISQUALIFICATION FOR ASSAULTING THE REFEREE: NOBE BRYANT!!
Bryant was suddenly very happy once again and rejoiced with his belt and Katie Angel returned to the stage. Bryant posed atop the stage. They left as Darkmon was tossing chairs at ringside and throwing various objects around to close the show.
