TNA Wrestling Main Event
Johnny "Havok" Devine vs Samoa Joe
For years, Johnny Devine had been a mainstay in the Prairie Wrestling Alliance, having taken part in some memorable matches with the likes of Duke Durrango, Greg Pawluk, and Eric Freeze. It was a few years ago that Devine signed with TNA wrestling as part of the highly successful "Team Canada." After Team Canada was disbanded by Jim Cornette, Devine was a lost soul in TNA, lacking direction and purpose. After a short-lived stint under Kevin Nash as a member of the Paparazzi, Devine disappeared, only to resurface under the tutelage of former ECW World Champion Raven. Christened Havok, this new incarnation of Devine cares little for wins and losses, and more on inflicting pain on others.
Meanwhile, Samoa Joe has been a freight train destined for superstardom ever since he stepped foot in a TNA ring nearly two years ago. A multiple time X-Division Champion, the Samoan Submission Machine can crush a rib with a kick, fly through the air to bowl you over, or choke your lights out in an instant.
This will be Joe's first match in Edmonton, as well as his first in a PWA ring. Havok is hell-bent on destroying Joe in his old stomping grounds, and establishing himself as a premier TNA star in the process. What will happen when these two exciting TNA stars meet in a PWA ring?
Semi-Main Event
Gold Dust vs Hannibal
While many fans will always remember the name of (inhale deeply) Gold Dust, most in North America are unaware of the talent and sheer power that Hannibal has at his disposal. A WWC Tag Team Champion in Puerto Rico, Hannibal got his start destroying the competition in Stampede Wrestling before making his way down south. Hannibal is capable of throwing Gold Dust around the ring like a rag doll, but does he have the mental focus to be able to avoid falling prey to Gold Dust's psychological attacks? The son of a son of a plumber is a master of the mind game, which led him to Intercontinental Championship gold in the World Wrestling Federation over a decade ago. There is little question that Gold Dust has only gotten wiser in the time since, but will it be enough to throw the monster Hannibal off his game?
Abdullah the Butcher vs Tex Gaines
When it comes to brawling, there are few in PWA that can stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Tex Gaines. One of the toughest competitors in the PWA, Gaines' penchant for brawling has led him to the PWA Mayhem Title in the past, and Gaines has waged bloody wars with the likes of Chris Steele, Juggernaut, and Michael Avery on a number of occasions. But there is little question that Tex Gaines has not met an opponent as barbaric and sadistic as Abdullah the Butcher. Having carved opponents up with his trusty fork for decades, the Butcher is still as dangerous as ever. Last year, Abdullah and Hannibal waged war in Cochrane, Alberta, spilling more blood than the Red Cross gets donated in a month. Gaines is one tough hombre, but he had better be prepared for the fight of his life, because Abdullah will give it to him whether he wants it or not.
PWA Championship Match
Phoenix Taylor (C) vs Chris Steele
Long-time fans of the PWA will remember a young and inexperienced Phoenix Taylor being dominated by the powerful Steele in what was Taylor's first match in the PWA. Fast forward to six years later and the story is much different. No longer cutting his teeth in the promotion's first year, Taylor has developed into one of the company's most dynamic and successful entities, becoming the first Triple Crown winner in PWA history, having captured the Cruiserweight, Tag Team, and PWA Championship during his time with the company. Steele is no stranger to winning himself, having won the PWA Championship an unprecedented three times. The history between the two will be rekindled on May 26!
Family Values Rematch
Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart vs Apocalypse
When Apocalypse and Belle Lovitz attacked Nattie Neidhart in the summer of 2005, she challenged the two to face her and her father Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart in a match. The show, aptly named "Family Values" took place in October of 2005, and the first ever legitimate father-daughter tag team took home the win. Apocalypse never forgot that night, and how has the chance to exact revenge on the Anvil. Wrestling fans are no stranger to Jim Neidhart, an agile powerhouse that got his start in Stampede Wrestling before going on to form one of the greatest tag teams of all time, The Hart Foundation with his brother-in-law Bret "Hitman" Hart. Apocalypse is looking to rebound after narrowly missing out on snaring the PWA Championship from Phoenix Taylor, and will no doubt be fueled by the opportunity to do so at the expense of the family he has so often been in opposition to.
PWA Cruiserweight Title Match
Marky Mark (C) vs Dusty Adonis
There may be no foes that are becoming as familiar with one another as Marky Mark and Dusty Adonis. After losing the Cruiserweight Title to Marky back at Fright Night, Dusty Adonis has been on a mission to regain his championship gold. At PWA Apocalypse, Adonis looked to have Marky beat, but the referee was knocked unconscious, and was unable to make the count. Conversely, Marky also had Adonis down for the three count when the ref was out of commission. Adonis took advantage of the situation, clocking Marky with a pair of brass knucks and scoring the pinfall, but commissioner Kurt Sorochan reversed the decision. Now Sorochan has vowed to appoint a special guest referee to oversee the match, someone that he feels will be able to handle the situation. Will we finally find out who the better man is?
Old rivals renew their feud for the first time in Alberta!
Juggernaut vs Scotty Mac
One of the hottest feuds to ever come out of British Columbia is now going to write a new chapter in a PWA ring. The 400-pound Juggernaut and Scotty Mac have battled all over British Columbia, and are now looking to continue the feud. Juggernaut's credentials are more than well known to PWA fans, as a former Mayhem and current Tag Team Champion, Juggernaut has all the tools to leave an opponent battered and bruised. The fact that Scotty Mac is even showing up for a fight with Juggernaut given the abuse he has taken in the past is a testament to the young superstar's toughness. Armed with a number of high-flying attacks, will Scotty Mac be able to establish himself as the superior athlete in this long standing feud?
Elimination Tag Match
Space Calypso vs The Polite Police vs Thunder & Lightning vs The Karachi Vice
Originally scheduled to be for the PWA Tag Team Championship, the Space Calypso's loss to Tex Gaines and Juggernaut at PWA Apocalypse has now made this match a #1 Contender's Match. The Space Calypso appear to be far from on the same page following the loss, as evidenced by the argument and physical altercation that ensued. But even when they aren't on the same page, Ravenous Randy and Michael Avery are accomplished competitors, and may still be able to succeed and get past their differences.
The Polite Police are on a huge roll following their Mayhem Title victory over Juggernaut this past month, and look to continue their winning ways in this match. The Police have come close to snaring Tag Team gold in the past, this might be the start of a big spring for Danny Manners and Brady Roberts.
Thunder and Lightning came close to defeating the Space Calypso back in March until Corporal Punishment intervened in the match. At Apocalypse, Lightning was going to take care of his former charge until he was unable to make the show. This proved to be unfortunate for Thunder, who was attacked by Punishment and Chris Steele following his match. Will the two be able to focus on the match with Punishment lurking in the shadows?
The Karachi Vice are the odds-on favourites in this match. Former PWA Tag Team Champions in their own right, the Vice have not been in tag team action for several months, as Gama Singh Jr. has been away from PWA action. In his absence, Tiger Raj Singh has been on an incredible tear, first defeating Scotty Putty and Danny Manners in a handicap match, then destroying Lucas Drago last month. With his partner by his side, can anybody stop the Tiger?
