According to an article by Variety, HBO Films will be producing a movie about the life of Southern pro wrestling legend Sputnik Monroe.

The film is slated to focus on Monroe's part in the civil rights movement, with the article noting Monroe quote, "refused to perform if African-Americans weren't allowed to sit in the seats of their choosing at various arenas. He also helped integrate the ring."

Monroe passed away in November of 2006 after a bout with cancer.
