THE IRON SHEIK REVEALS MORE THAN EVER ON KAYFABE COMMENTARIES
Proving why he is rapidly becoming the most downloaded man on the Internet, WWE Legend and Hall of Famer the Iron Sheik is the most recent pro wrestler to be featured on KayfabeCommentaries.com, providing remarkably candid, newly recorded alternate audio tracks.
The tracks, available for purchase via instant mp3 download, will feature audio for his matches against Hulk Hogan, Bob Backlund, Sgt Slaughter, Brian Blair/Jim Brunzell, and more. The first 5 match commentaries have gone on sale today at www.kayfabecommentaries.com. There are also three samples posted.
KayfabeCommentaries.com co-owner Sean Oliver says that while there is no denying the Sheik’s recent online antics will aid sales, there is more to what the Sheik has to offer on these brand new commentary tracks.
“It’s not just buffoonery for buffoonery’s sake, as was some of what began popping up on youtube.com and on the Internet in general," he says. “People would goad the Sheik into ‘gimmick mode’ and he would deliver some good sound bytes for them. But in terms of honesty and truly shocking revelations, our time with the Sheik has produced a product that far surpasses anything I’ve ever heard or seen done with him. There was no kayfabing at all. This was the soul of the man. And I think it was brave of him to reveal all he did, both about his work in the ring as well as his naming plenty of names in conjunction with out of the ring ‘action’."
Oliver hopes his popularity doesn’t increase in lieu of respect. “People have to remember that this is a former WWE World Champion we’re talking about in The Iron Sheik. And that was in an era when holding that belt meant something, because only 3 people had in ten years.
The Sheik’s recent Internet popularity is largely attributable to (very) uncensored clips that surfaced in which he cut a proverbial promo on everyone from Brian Blair to former partner Nikolai Volkoff to actor Michael Richards.
“He is a figure that factors prominently in the history of the remarkable rise in popularity of the sport," Oliver adds. “And that shouldn’t be overshadowed by the imagery of him humbling Brian Blair, ‘old-country-way.’ If that’s possible."
