The latest details on the impending NWA & TNA Wrestling split and titles
On Friday, May 11, 2007 at 6:20 PM EST Documents ending the official business relationship between the NWA and TNA Wrestling were scheduled to be signed any minute now according to a report by The Wrestling Observer. For those who have been keeping up with the story, the NWA made the decision to end its relationship with TNA claiming the company badly breached their multi-year contract that gave them control to use the NWA World Heavyweight Title and NWA World Tag Team Titles.
The NWA gave TNA until this coming Monday night's TV tapings in Orlando, FL (the day after the Sacrifice PPV) to do whatever storylines that are necessary to strip Christian Cage and Team 3D of the titles and return them. So, as assumed before, it is possible TNA will be running this storyline at the Sacrifice PPV this Sunday going into the TV tapings on Monday. However, it is possible TNA won't make a huge deal out of it and just start referring to their champions as TNA champions.
PWInsider reports that TNA received their new World Championship and Tag Team Championship title belts recently, while the company has ordered a new X Division Championship belt as well. The NWA has already started planning a tournament to crown a new NWA World Heavyweight Champion taking place in various NWA territories around the country.
