Funk's Corner - What is a Webbie?
Aside from being a Rapster from Baton Rouge Louisiana a "Webbie" is something in between a Mini Reality Show and a wrestling promo.
You have seen them on the major wrestling television shows, Incidents that take place back stage and the production video cameras are there to record the events for presentation through video live or on replay.
Webbies are not promos and they are certainly not wrestling matches. Webbies are mini videos. Their importance is to increase the interest in up coming wrestling matches.
With the popularization of You Tube, My Space and for that matter, !BANG! TV Webbies are increasingly important in the marketing of professional wrestling.
On our website at www.dory-funk.com, we have a special section for "Webbies" featuring the participants in our next !BANG! TV Taping, Support the Troops 16, Ultimate Struggle.
The latest "Webbie" on line on our website is the signing of the contract for the Florida Heavyweight Championship match between Johnny Magnum and Shane Chung and the controversy surrounding the selection of their respective corner people.
Other Webbies on our site include Elvis Sharp Exposing himself to Air Mitchell's Valet, Sandii Skye, A risqué phone conversation between The Claw and Father James Mitchell and a dressing and powder room incident involving The Claw and The "Pop Tarts," Lady Kimberly and Miss Vicki.

Night of Legends at Tropicana Field Results
It was a “Night of Legends" at Tropicana Field when the Devil Ray’s hosted the Florida Marlins this past Friday night. The Rays brought in a dozen former World Wrestling Entertainment stars that made appearances before, during and after the game.
Prior to the game all the wrestlers including legends Bret “The Hitman" Hart, “Mean" Gene Okerlund, Jim “The Anvil" Neidhart and B. Brian Blair signed autographs for the over 14,000 paid fans.
The Hart Foundation also reunited as Bret Hart and Jim Nedihart stepped into the ring to present one luck fan with an autographed folding chair from a recent WWE pay per view, as well as tickets to next years Wrestlemania XXIV, being held on March 30, 2008 at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.
Following the game, three matches took place right in the middle of the field:
King Haku was defeated by the “Native American Superstar" Tatanka
Brutus “The Barber" Beefcake lost his bout to Greg “The Hammer" Valentine, after the bout Beefcake who entered the ring sporting a Red Sox jersey was heckled by a Yankee’s fan. “The Barber" lived up to his nickname by hauling the fan into the ring for an impromptu trim.
Valentine returned to the ring to put a stop to the madness offering his former tag team partner a handshake and a Ray’s jersey. Following some considerations the two shook hands as the crowd erupted in approval of the ‘Dream Team’ reunion.
Former World Tag Team Champions…The Nasty Boys shut the mouths of the cocky Rick Steiner and The Cuban Assassin, prior to the bout, the Commissioner for the night B. Brian Blair ejected The Assassin’s valet ‘Fantasy" from ringside.
While the Nasties had their opponents well in hand they were still glad of the assist from Ray’s star Jonny Gomes who hit the ring wielding a garbage can.
Throughout the night ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund provided color commentary.
Speaking with www.KocoSports.com the Devil Ray’s spokesperson said that they were “extremely happy’ at how the event turned out and they plan to bring the “legends night" back for either a Yankees or Red Sox Saturday home game in the future. They are projection an attendance of around 35,000 for the next event.
