The Associated Press is reporting that a user of the website Wikipedia has confessed to making edits to the official profile page for Chris Benoit mentioning the death of Benoit's wife Nancy many hours before authorities found her body.

The anonymous user stated he was quote "deeply sorry" for what he did and called the situation a "terrible coincidence." This story got lots of media attention yesterday ranging from internet reports to the 24/7 cable news networks (Fox News, CNN, MSNBC).

"I was reading rumors and speculation about this matter online, and one of them included that his wife may have passed away, and I did the wrong thing by posting it on wikipedia to spite (sic) there being no evidence," said the user. The individual also confirmed he was from Stamford, CT (which is the location for WWE Headquarters), but said he had no connection to WWE. It should also be noted that the users IP address has a previous history of editing other wrestling profiles on Wikipedia.
