Titans organization say Jones contract would prohibit him from wrestling
On Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at 3:02 PM EST The Tennessean has an article up for Tuesday noting that Adam "Pacman" Jones' current contract with the NFL's Tennessee Titans would prohibit him from actually entering a TNA ring.
"That type of thing is not permitted in accordance with the player's contract," said Titans coach Jeff Fisher. Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck also had the following to say: "He's a football player. He's no wrestler. He needs to concentrate on other things besides wrestling. I think he has enough on his plate right now. But you never know with that guy. Who knows what he is going to do. I don't know if that is the best thing to do, but at the same time it not my decision, it's Pac's."
Early reports based on TNA sources seemed to indicate that the company had plans to utilize Jones at least once as a wrestler as part of his deal with TNA Wrestling. Whether or not plans have changed remains to be seen. "We have no comment right now. But a TNA statement is forthcoming in the next couple of days regarding the situation," said Steven Godfrey, head of TNA's Public Relations. The belief was that TNA would issue this statement on Tuesday, but nothing has been released as of 3:00 p.m. Eastern today.
