Final rundown of this weekend's NWA Upstate Indytational show.
- We're just a little under a week away from NWA Upstate's inaugural Indytational tournament and the mood is tense amongst the competitors. Six men are set to compete in this unique tournament, and not only do they NOT know who they'll be facing until they are in the ring, but they also don’t even know how many times they may have to wrestle with the automatic bye structure. All they do know is that winning this initial tournament will raise their stock here in NWA Upstate, not only with the winner earning the first tournament title but also receiving an open contract to book themselves in any match they see fit, anytime they want.
Tournament Participants: Sterling James Keenan, Fabulous John McChesney, Danny Doring, Judas Young, Ruckus, and the Upstate World Champion - Jimmy Olsen.
- Keeping with the tradition of the past tournament shows, we will still be seeing the Rochester Rumble match! This match has been used in previous years to help establish more title contenders and this year will be no different as like the tournament match the winner can go on to challenge for any title he wants. So all Upstate title holders are at risk of having not one but two contenders seeking them out before the night is over. This is the very match that current champion Jimmy Olsen used to rise to the top of the ranks just last year. So you can expect to see everyone fighting their hearts out in this one to be the next to step up.
- The NWA Upstate Tag Team titles will be on the line as the champions, Dunn & Marcos defend against the new pairing of Brodie Lee and Cloudy, now known as "CloudLee". Though the champions have been teaming longer and have an experience advantage, this new team of CloudLee has all the potential in the world and are hungry to establish themselves as the new top tag team. This match can really go either way, but regardless this stands to be a great matchup.
- The Kayfabe Dojo title will also be up for grabs as the new champion Jon Bolen makes his first defense against former champion JP Black and the returning Outkast Killa, Oman Tortuga in triple threat action. Bolen sure has his work cut out for him making his first defense against competitors like these two. One has to wonder if a wrestling ring is enough to contain these 3 powerhouses.
- Then we have one a lot of people have been waiting for, Big Cat Lemmer vs. Triple X. These two were partners in undoubtedly the most successful 6man team in Upstate history along with Spazz. Apparently the jealously was building within Triple X as this entire partnership came to an end over what he felt was “a lack of respect". Finally XXX showed his true colors attacking BCL after a big loss for the team. BCL wanting to get his hands on Triple X so bad, agreed to put his Mother on the line and if he lost she would have to be XXX’s personal assistant, and with the help of a foreign object this is exactly what happened. Now BCL madder than ever and fighting for his Mother’s honor after being disrespected will take on Triple X again but this time ANYTHING GOES! This one is sure to get out of hand.
- Finally we will see a special attraction non-title 4 corners match as No Limits Champion Cheech faces Colin Olsen, Super Extremo and Gabe Saint. All 4 of these men have a lot to prove and we expect to see some amazing action from this one. Colin and Extremo are both in the same boat here in Upstate in that they have both been involved in some great contests but neither has been able to pick up that big win they need to climb the ranks, so a win for them obviously means a lot. We're not quite sure what has been going on with Gabe Saint as last week in Upstate's sister promotion NWA Empire, we saw him take on Cheech one on one. Although Gabe came out on the losing end, it was a very close, competitive match and we also saw what seemed to be an attitude change from Saint, as he wasn't up to his usual devious ways and even congratulated Cheech on the win. We're not quite sure how this sits with his current tag partner Maximo Suave. And even though his title won't be on the line, Cheech certainly does not want to give up a big win to any of these men on a show like this.
- Doors open at 5:30 with the main show beginning at 6:30. There will also be a small pre-show card starting before that so be sure to get there early and not miss a second of the action!

Motor Mouth Mike is your host for this evening.
Mike introduces Matthew J. Stark the new commissioner of LWL to crown the LWL Champion "I'm not happy about this, but it has to be done" Loud cheering as Mat Mensa makes his way to the ring. "I'll hand over this LWL Championship if you give me that National Pride Championship" states Stark "Should I" Mensa asks the fans, they reply with a loud "Yes", so Mensa hands over the National Pride Championship and is handed back the LWL Championship. Steve Valentino makes his way to the ring (The fans greet him with boos), he attempts to talk but the microphone cuts out! "I'm National Pride 1 Contender" Valentino shouts. Valentino then attacks Mensa with the help of Danny Devine, Dan Ryder (Crowd cheers loudly) comes out to even up the odds. "Emo" chants directed towards Valentino, Valentino replies "I'm too good to be an Emo" fans cheer for Mensa as he leaves. Stark continues "Here are my new enforcers The Firm". "Pee Wee Herman" chants directed towards the referee. The fans boo The Firm as they enter Stark closes by saying "The Firm will be the most dominant men in LWL History" Carnage and Kris Navarro make their way to the ring (Crowd cheers loudly).
The Firm (TGR/The Bouncer) w/The Boss v Carnage & Kris Navarro
Carnage stands behind TGR as he turns around he almost jumps out of his boots! Bouncer enters, TGR distracts Carnage allowing Bouncer to attack from behind, Navarro attempts a save but gets double teamed for his troubles as Carnage is dumped to the outside. Double Russian legsweep by The Firm on Navarro, TGR stamps on Navarro (The fans rally behind Navarro). TGR tags in Bouncer who proceeds to kick Navarro and attack Carnage allowing a double team once more in the form of a Backbreaker/2nd Rope elbow combination. Big slam and leg drop by Bouncer "We want Carnage" chant starts up. Bouncer tags in TGR, he quickly hit's a running avalanche in the corner into a bulldog for a two count. Frustrated he pins Navarro again (1 count), and again (another 1 count) and once more (1 count). 1 + 1 +1 = 3 he tells the ref! TGR chokes Navarro with his boot, Carnage enters allowing The Firm to double team Navarro again, with a wishbone leg splitter unfortunately at this point the ring breaks!
Carnage attacks the Bouncer, and he, Navarro and The Firm brawl around the hall. Carnage hits Bouncer with a power slam on a solid wooden table. TGR hits his patented Stamp/Senton on Navarro on another table. Extraordinarily the match continues (In the broken ring), Carnage suplexes Bouncer on the ringside floor, The Firm combine once more for a double noggin knocker on Carnage and Navarro, TGR and Navarro return the ring and with a vicious choke bomb (by TGR) the 1,2 and 3 count is made and The Firm are your winners. Fans boo loudly at The Firm and cheer for Carnage and Navarro as they leave.
Winners: The Firm
Match Time: 7 minutes
Thoughts:
This had the makings of a good match, The Firm looked extremely dominant in the early going, with Carnage aching for the tag when the ring broke. This could have been turned into a good tag match unfortunately just as it seemed to get going the ring broke and then it was just a case of finishing the match, which they did.
Intermission as LWL staff attempted to fix the broken ring, unfortunately it was to no avail. The show was cancelled, the fans were refunded and the show was rescheduled for two weeks time.
Overall Thoughts:
This was a one match show (In every sense of the word!), with the ring breaking in the first match. Despite the best efforts of the LWL staff the show had to be cancelled, and is now rescheduled for two weeks time. It had the makings of a good show and I for one will be back in two weeks to see how it concludes.
