Latest on the No Mercy/WWE Title situation & new John Cena diagnosis
On Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 12:54 AM EST For those who may have missed it (Click here for Hunter Golden's ECW report), it was announced by Vince McMahon on ECW on Sci Fi this past Tuesday night that as a result of John Cena's injury, he will indeed be stripped of the WWE Championship and that a new champion would be crowned at the No Mercy PPV this Sunday in Chicago.
Who will face Randy Orton in the scheduled Last Man Standing Match remains to be seen as nothing was announced on Tuesday night. The company is holding on a poll on WWE.com asking fans who they would like to see walk away WWE Champion at No Mercy. Believe it or not, Val Venis is leading the poll with 50% of the vote with Triple H and Mr. Kennedy getting the second and third most votes.
It should be noted that WWE is also reporting that Cena's pectoral tear was proven to be more severe than even previously diagnosed, causing the company to now tout that Cena could be out of action from anywhere from six months to a full year.
We will continue to follow this story as it develops.
