TNA World Champion Kurt Angle and his DUI arrest last Friday has been picked up by numerous media outlets in the Pittsburgh area, including popular gossip website TMZ.com (click here for the story).

Angle was scheduled to join the "Between The Ropes" radio show last night, but his appearance was cancelled at last-minute when news of his DUI arrest broke last night. TNA's Ross Forman touted Angle's appearance on the show during a Wednesday afternoon TNA/Spike TV Conference Call with TNA President Dixie Carter, so it's likely the company was unaware of the arrest at that point.

Here is an Associated Press story regarding Angle:

Pro Wrestler Kurt Angle Charged With DUI

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. — Pro wrestler Kurt Angle was charged with drunken driving and careless driving when he drove home from a bar near his home in the Pittsburgh suburbs last week, police said.

Angle was charged Friday after a motorist called police in Moon Township about 2 p.m. to report a Cadillac Escalade was driving erratically, according to a police news release.

Police used the license number to determine the vehicle belonged to Angle and went to his home, where police said the wrestler acknowledged driving home from a bar.

Angle appeared to be intoxicated and failed a field sobriety test before refusing a blood test, police said.

Angle, 38, won a gold medal in the 1996 Summer Olympics before becoming a local television sportscaster and then a pro wrestler.

It was not immediately clear if Angle had an attorney. His home telephone number was unlisted.
