Report - CM Punk has argument with WWE Hall of Famer at OVW event
On Monday, October 8, 2007 at 4:56 PM EST PWInsider is reporting that an incident went down at last week's Ohio Valley Wrestling TV taping between ECW Champion CM Punk and WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas.
WWE sent Atlas to both OVW and Florida Championship Wrestling last week to "mentor" the developmental talents and give them advice on what could hold them back from getting on the main roster. According to sources, Atlas was overheard teasing CM Punk over the amount of wrist tape he wears saying that it looked like he had broken arms. Punk reportedly listened to the comments and then went about business as usual. Punk worked a Dark Match for OVW in his usual gear, including wearing the wrist tape.
During the post-TV taping meeting, Atlas started talking about the attitude of the current OVW roster and when he made any type of negative comments, he reportedly stared right at Punk. Punk is said to have ignored it at first, but by the fourth or fifth time he spoke up and asked why Atlas was looking his way. According to sources, Atlas started saying that Punk had a "bad attitude" and that with that kind of attitude he would never make it to television. That statement alone by Atlas caused him to lose tons of credibility in front of the roster, to which Punk responded asking if Atlas even knew his name or if he had ever watched WWE's ECW TV show on Sci Fi. Atlas said he hadn't and the two argued back and forth for quite a while. It was later made known that many on the OVW roster were happy that Punk spoke up when he did.
