Possible new faction on Smackdown, "The Condemned", + WWE signee
On Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 4:35 PM EST PWInsider is reporting that Dave Taylor, Paul Burchill and WWE newcomer Drew McIntyre could be put together as a new faction on the Smackdown brand soon unless plans change.
WWE Films' "The Condemned" DVD dropped to #6 on the rental charts, which was down from #4 the previous week. The DVD has grossed $11.12 million via rentals so far, so it has been a much better success than its theatrical release.
Andrew Cannon sent this in: Just thought I'd pass along this. It's from the "South Wales Evening Post" newspaper in Swansea, Wales (UK). There's an article about a body builder from Swansea called Rob Terry who has been signed to the WWE on a developmental contract. (This was on page 3 of the Tuesday 9th October edition).
Here's a select portion of the article:
"Out of the blue, Rob was contacted by WWE chiefs to come down to their two-day Raw and Smackdown event in Earls Court, London. He and nine other wrestling hopefuls were put through their paces and had their every move watched. Something which was a problem for Rob.
"I didn't know any wrestling moves at all. I came from a body building background. When they asked me to get in the ring for an exercise and take part in a practice bout, I had to tell them that I couldn't wrestle. I thought I'd blown it there and then"
But after wrestling chiefs showed him a couple of moves, Rob soon got to grips with things. And in doing so, he had attracted the attention of WWE Boss Vince McMahon. To Rob's amazement, the multi-billionaire boss said he wanted to offer Rob a development contract and send him to wrestling school.
"I'll be learning all the moves there and having acting classes", Rob said.
