Pro's from the Palace (#211) - Palace Report: WWE, TNA, ROH & more
» Reported by Mike Siciliano of WrestleView.com
» On Monday, October 29, 2007 at 8:18 PM EST

As I personally head to a rare opportunity to watch Monday Night Raw live, and the forthcoming speculation of Jericho back in WWE, or Van Dam and/or Booker T to TNA, I can only surmise one thing for the status of the pro wrestling industry at this present time.

What the hell is going on?

Let's do this in two parts. First, I saw the tail end of Impact last night, the replay from thursday. Couple of things. Who the hell is Mike Tenay to get involved with ANYTHING from the storyline to make him get up and WALK AWAY FROM HIS POST to be involved so little in a backstage vignette with Cornette and Nash and Morgan? Forgive me for saying so, but Don West can't call a match to save his goddamn life, and having Christian Cage out there for commentary during the Fatu/Robert Roode match was no prize either.

Quick side note, apparently SHIMMER star Rain was in the audience as a plant fan for Robert Roode. It's my first time seeing her, I've heard about her through reports on ROH's site and reading SHIMMER releases. Damn, Rain's a hot mama.

Had the first chance last night to see Amazing "Awesome" Kong on television as she basically tore apart Angel Williams. First off, I don't get why WWE passed on Angel Williams. She looks like she could hold her own physique wise, and could probably give the WWE ladies a run for their money. But Awesome Kong, holy jesus. What the hell can you say about this woman? She is just down right freakish, and beyond scary. She's terrifying. If I were Gail Kim, I'd be booking the first room at the local psych ward, and throw the key away so that this woman doesn't grab her, because she'll literally break her in half over her hamhock of a knee.

*Shudder*

What's the logic between Black Reign and Abyss? I know obviously TNA got shafted when Judas Mesias went down, but Black Reign is nothing more than someone who desperately needs to be put in an insane asylum, permanently. He's not entertaining, the schtick's been done, the bizarre crap has been done, and this rat supposedly "gnawing" on the face of Abyss was just repulsive to endure. The head in the vise thing also bothered me, but I can't say something like that otherwise I'll get more hate mail Iike I showed everybody in chapter 210 of this column.

I didn't see the reason why the end of the Sting/Angle title match and the end of Sting's 2 day reign as TNA World Champion turned in to such a controversy, but the facts are the facts. We now have an absolute senior effin' citizen taking part in a tag team match where if he pins his partner, the guy he wants to kill right now, with knees that look like spaghetti after being chopped up by a cheese grater, he could be the World Heavyweight Champion. Sting comes out, and "DEMANDS" Cornette to let him choose his own partner. Excuse me, sunshine, but who the hell is management here? Are the inmates truly running the asylum in TNA? When do announcers, and wrestlers have more say with the matches and results than the damn so called management?

So that brings me to the speculation I mentioned in the beginning here. It's speculated that Sting's partner for this tag match could be Van Dam, or it could be Booker T. I have to admit, ON PAPER, its not bad. Sting & Van Dam or Sting & Booker T are intriguing tag teams, to be sure. But, when you put either one of these men in to this scenario, it's still a major league cluster F.

Someone needs to explain to me the logic of putting Kevin Nash back in to the TNA ring. The bumps Nash took on Impact last week looked like it killed him. He looked like he was about to cry or go in to shock for the amount of pain he appeared to be going through with his facial expressions. And then we have Angle, the so called Triple H of TNA, back when H thought he was Ric Flair, who spends more time runnng away from a fight than confronting a fight. As much as it sickens me that the originals from TNA are getting the royal shaft here, these former WWE and WCW stars are also getting just as screwed with the booking going on in TNA, and the subsequent images they are portraying on television.

You could not pay me to watch Genesis. And hell, you couldn't GIVE ME a recent TNA DVD. Since I was dumb enough to pick up the waste that is Hard Justice, from earlier this year, I have realized that this company is on the fast track to disaster, and the only way on this elevator is straight down in the pits of hell.

Ok, now that I'm done bitching about TNA, let's move on.

I'm less than a week away from going to the Manhattan Center for Glory By Honor VI, Night 2, and Ring of Honor. Nigel McGuiness as ROH World Champion, a possibility of Danielson or Aries vs. Morishima, Claudio vs. Marufuji, and KENTA vs. Misawa. I gotta admit, I'm pumped up. I'm probably going to pick up the Double Budokan DVD from NOAH to see these guys more in depth before the christmas time when this show's DVD comes out. Who knows? If I get inspired, I'll write a review as a column. Damn sure I'll comment on it at the blog.

Ok, move on to WWE, since I don't have much on ROH, yet. Wait till next week.

First, I need to say I was wrong. I honestly did not think WWE would go with the stretcher match for Rey vs. Finlay last night. I'm impressed. I'm also impressed that they put up the cage, although they didn't use it. It was definitely the right move to put it up even if the polls said not to use it, because it doesn't affect the company's credibility one bit. It was awfully predictable to see the two who lost the WWE title picture poll go in a match on the undercard. I am surprised they didn't make that an I-C title match.

I am wondering what the deal is with the Matt Hardy/MVP situation, and why they didn't have Hardy compete last night. I am assuming its to begin the buildup to Survivor Series and the eventual match for the US title, but Kane vs. MVP part 2,103 was definitely not a high idea on my book. I would've liked to see Henry vs. MVP, and then have Matt save MVP's ass, to make some more merit in the eyes of the world to garner toward a title match of his own. At least there, it'd be more unpredictable. But, I guess Kane vs. MVP isn't a bad deal, because more often than not, these guys do deliver. See Armageddon 2006 for an explanation of that statement.

Kind of surprised Undertaker didn't take the title last night. It leads to speculation about the Taker's health, I think. WWE had planned on a major title reign for Taker before he got hurt, and although its a lot later, it would have been, I think, likely to put the belt back on him now to begin the slow lead in to the Rumble and/or Wrestlemania. Now, with Batista retaining, it's an almost certainty who his next full program with be with, and that's obviously the man who's returning at Survivor Series, Edge.

It's also pretty obvious that Orton's got another chapter to write with Shawn Michaels, just a matter of how.

I'm checking out the voting results. The only one that I am stunned about is the voting for the Miz. I don't understand the logic of that one a bit. While I am not at all disappointed at a new match, and Punk vs. Miz is relatively new in the title picture sort of aspect, I don't think Miz was deserving of being in that poll, personally. Elijah Burke should've been, but hindsight is always 20/20, especially for a dope like me.

13 million votes. I guess I can complain and bitch about WWE creative all I want, when one voice is out there, maybe it's just not worth it to complain because obviously, something is working for 13 million responses to these polls. Let's move on to other things.

Who here is going to take bets that either one of the two diva search contestants, whoever wins, will be out of WWE before the year is up?

I was dumb enough to read the columns on the dirt sheets about save-us222.com and savior-self.com being countdown sites, and actually going to them to wait and see what happened when they counted down to zero. Well, they did, and then went right back on counting up. Obviously, I couldn't tell what happened on the broadcast last night, but if I had to guess, a new "save_us" video was aired. Forgive me for saying so, but this is getting old, isn't it?

Checking savior-self.com now, it's got google ads, and the words "UPON_US" on it. Why am I buying in to this mess?

I read Triple H vs. Umaga from last night was nice and brutal. Now, checking the preview on wwe.com, it's Orton and Umaga vs. Triple H in a handicap match tonight. What's to prove there? Is DX going to reunite? With that type of match, that's the outcome I see, and I am not sure if they can pull that trump card again. It may be pushing the envelope a little further than the public will allow.

Where is JBL going to go back to work? It's pretty damn obvious that Layfield thinks he has some more left in the tank inside the ring. I hope he's right, because I really do enjoy his work behind the microphone, and yet, since his re-emergence in the storylines with Rey Mysterio recently, and last week, Batista, he's gotten annoying to me. I like the tweener announcers who can rip a face and compliment them as well. If he's going to heel it up, then get back in the ring. Don't tweener the character, because the character is not meant to be on the line of face and heel, and if you understand what I just said, please, let me know. Because I am not sure I even know what I just said.

Ok, as the time draws closer to Raw, it's time to say good night. Sorry for the back and forth of this one, but I wanted to say a few things post Cyber Sunday, and I try to come up with a column when I am going to be fortunate to watch Raw as it happens, because it doesn't happen often. Personally, I can really use some good old fashioned ass kicking, because, well, just because. Hopefully, WWE will come through.

As I close, I just read speculation that Junior Fatu is already out of TNA, as he was not at the tapings tonight, and has been on record as wanting more money. Word to the wise, big boy, your ass ain't worth that much to begin with, maybe you oughta try working a resume in TNA before trying to break the bank. Ewww.. Makes me sick hearing about this, because it reminds me of something I am going to be force fed for the next six months from another sport here in New York. And that, seriously, will make me puke. After I laugh my ass off for about sixteen hours.

Ok, enough babble. Hasta pasta, peoples.
