Pro's from the Palace (#212) - Anger Pointed At TNA & WWE + ROH notes

You know, I'm not one on internet video. I have an archaic internet connection, I'm still a schlub on dial up, and I don't have the time or patience to get the connection upgraded, not to mention the green, but I digress. So, every once in a while, I am fortunate, or tonight, heavily UNFORTUNATE to be able to watch TNA today, the so called 'hottest internet show in the world.'

By promoting alcohol consumption?

Look, I'm not one for James Storm walking to the ring with a beer. Whether its real or not, I don't know, I'll never know, and I don't care. But, they say it's a beer, it's got a Budweiser label on it, plain as day, so the inference is there. Now, fast forward to TNA today, and Storm is talking to Jeremy "Don't cut me out of the storylines" Borash about his "fight for the right" tournament match on Impact with Kaz. Ok. Fine. But, then, after Storm's promo, Borash goes in to a tirade about the beer. Storm disses him, which is ok, no problem, now, call it as we see it, and split. Right?

Wrong.

Eric Young pops up out of nowhere, you know, TNA's version of the Eugene character, just more never ending.... Well, Young comes out, asks Borash where Storm is, and did he leave anything behind. He then says he's jonesin' for some booze, and asks Borash if he wants a beer from the store, and then he rattles off about 20 names of beer brands. When he's done rattlin' like a out of control old beat up vehicle, Storm comes back, cracks wise, hands him the beer, Young starts gulpin' it down, and Borash runs away like he just got hit with a two ton truck full of AIDS contanimated fluid.

What's the point? Is TNA trying to get beer sponsorship? Is TNA trying to promote alcohol consumption? That's sure as hell what I saw from this video today.

Personally, I don't like Storm's idea with the beer bottle, but he's done it for so long, I can live with it. And don't sit here and tell me that Austin and Sandman are the same thing, because they're not, 90% of the beer they pour ends up on their shirts, and not in their gullets. Here, it's entirely different. But, I digress.

So Storm drinks beer as his gimmick. Fine. I can accept that. But what's the deal with having Eric Young portrayed as an out of control drunkard who needs a beer to feel better? Here's a guy who, a while ago, I remember reading Samoa Joe writing a blog complementing Young on his talent, and now, fast forward about a year or so, and Young is basically still doing stupid ass comedy skits for TNA, and is now portraying an alcoholic.

Yeah, I know Rhino did the same thing on Impact, and I hated that too, but at least, it didn't appear that at first, Rhino liked the idea of suckin' beer down his throat.

What the hell is TNA thinking? Angles like this do not work, and 75% of their audience, of pro wrestling's audience, is kids. Is this the type of message they want to portray? I hope not, but with what I have seen lately from them, I can't say that with any sort of confidence.

I know I'm writing this with 90 minutes left to go in the day, and the chances of anyone being able to see this video are slim when TNAwrestling.com updates its site, but if you have, I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, because I cannot believe that something that bad, something that metaphorically graphic can be allowed to air without someone else griping about it before I did.

And by some chance, if someone else has, then I apologize for not crediting you.

Let me try and move on to something else.

Someone on this planet has to explain to me how Raw got its decent rating last week. I watched it from bell to bell. It was painful. It was ridiculously painful. From the absolute repeat of the Halloween costume skit from Cyber Sunday to Stone Cold Santino to the absolutely most predictable main event finish I have ever seen on Raw, this show made my hair hurt. I didn't have a chance to read Hunter Golden's column on it, but I will. For a Raw off a pay per view, this was absolutely God awful, and I can't understand for the life of me how it got a positive rating out of the crap I endured for two hours. Two hours of my life I will never get back.

Don't believe me? Check my blog. I wrote a piece there right after the show. I was slightly more liberal with my language there. I hope you get a chance to read it.

Moving forward.

WWE fired Brooke Adams. My friend Sean mentioned in a piece he wrote online that its coincidental that on the week of the new diva search winner, a talent who has the same name as the runner up gets fired. WWE has a tendency to hire Diva Search runners up as well. Personally, I hope to hell its not the case. I thought Brooke had a tremendous amount of potential as a heel manager or as a talent in the ring. Not to mention she was and is drop dead goregous. Brooke from the Diva Search looks like a washed up crybaby waiting to find her mama to wipe her tears from her face. You see her reaction when she lost the diva search? I thought she was mouthing curse words on the air on live television. Three words for the Diva Search runner up. Bitch on Wheels. Next.

For my critics who hate my negative columns, well, stop now, because it's just going to get worse. Call it this. No sleep, not enough caffeine, and generally being pissed off. You've been warned.

ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness has a torn bicep or biceps, and will not compete when the NOAH royalty comes to Philly and New York this weekend. It's a shame, but I give Nigel some props for doing an autograph session before the show in New York as a token of appreciation to the fans. I wish I had the funds to pull that off, or to meet the NOAH guys. I can only imagine how much of a zoo those lines are going to be. In New York? The NOAH guys may get destroyed before they get to the ring from the autograph session. I am THRILLED that the Misawa/KENTA match is for the GHC title. Danielson vs. Morishima should be as stiff as my knees will likely be for standing at the back of the Manhattan Center for the entire show. It's going to be amazing. I will have a detailed review of that show up this weekend. I am jacked for it. Big time.

I saw a Cena recovery video on wwe.com today. How bad does the world want this guy back now? I can probably guess a few guys in Stamford, Connecticut that wish that this guy was back on television right now.

OK, enough positives. Back to the venom.

My wife and I were watching Impact briefly a while back when Sting lost the title to Angle. When Nash came to the ring, my wife's comment on him is priceless, and should be a warning to TNA. "How gray does he look!" Hey, I guess when you're balding, bald, or have more grey hair than brain cells, you're entitled to compete in a TNA ring. Scott Hall is due back in a TNA ring in an upcoming Impact. More past WWE references, right? Sure. Right. Ratings. Yah.

If WWE wants to lose any sort of fan base they have left with the product on Sci Fi on tuesday night, follow through with the reports that have been circulating while the suspensions were handed down. Next week on ECW for the ECW title. Follow through with the report that was given for the Punk/Morrison match part 114030. See how it's accepted in the fan base. Trust me. It won't be.

ECW completes its show last week with a monsters battle royal, (called Monster's Ball on WWE.com, is that a shot?) and the winner was a guy from Smackdown. Nice booking. Who's running the ECW creative team, someone with cracked glasses that sees images skewed?

How many more SAVE_US videos are we going to get before something comes out of it? I know in the beginning it was intriguing and fun to try and break the code, but right now, when you tell me to break the code four weeks after seeing the code, all I am interested to do is turn off my television, or frankly, throw my television across the damn room!

I'm done. I have no venom left, for now.

I hope you guys check out my blog. I make some more observations here and there at that locale. I also take a stab at an attempt at being a fantasy booker. Hey, I gotta keep the flame going somehow.
