ECW on Sci Fi & Friday Night Smackdown Tapings in Florence, SC
On Monday, December 3, 2007 at 2:49 PM EST The following took place on Sunday in Florence, SC:
Dale S. sent this report in:
Dark Match
Charles Evans (local) def Chavo G.
ECW starts
Show starts with announcement that CM Punk was having a Champions choice match. He got to choose either Big Daddy V or Mark Henry.
Miz and Morrison def Major Brothers
Mixed Tag Balls Mahoney/Kelly Kelly def Kenny/Victoria
Shelton Benjamin def Jimmy Wang Yang - Shelton does his usual pathetic mic work prior to match
Kevin Thorn def Local Jobber
CM Punk def Mark Henry by DQ when Big Daddy V gets involved. Kane comes out with chair; he, Big Daddy and Henry have chairs in the ring. Nothing really happens, Kane ducks a chair shot from Big Daddy V and V hits the corner of the ring, the chair slips out of his hand and flies into the crowd. It does hit a young boy, he and his family were ushered to the back by security and some reps. Probably will not be shown on TV as it was an embarrassment to the company.
As Henry and V are leaving, Estrada comes out and announces a Tag Match at Armageddon with Punk/Kane vs. Henry/V.
Overall pretty good show.
Smackdown tapings begin with JBL/Michael Cole coming out.
Teddy Long comes to the ring and announces MVP vs. Rey Mysterio at Armageddon, says that Vickie isn't there and that since he is Assistant GM he will be calling the shots until her return. Edge comes out, he is trying to speak to Vickie through the camera. Teddy announces Edge vs. Kane in the Main Event tonight. Edge is ticked and tells him there will be hell to pay when Vickie returns.
Tag Match: The Miz/John Morrison def Jesse and Festus
Batista def Elijah Burke. After the match, the lights were cut off while a promo was cut backstage, we could see them still working with Burke in the ring. He eventually was helped to the back, but it took approximately 5 minutes before he was able to leave.
Jamie Noble def. Chuck Palumbo. Michelle tried to help Palumbo but cost him the match. Afterwards, Chuck gets a mic and questions if she is really his "friend", tells her that tonight she needs to find another ride home and leaves.
MVP's VIP lounge was next. Guest was Michael PS Hayes. They are promoting a new video "World Class Championship Wrestling", mostly about the Freebird/Von Erich feuds. Talk about the problems that wrestling went through in the 80's with drugs. MVP becomes "disrespectful" of the older generation of wrestlers resulting in Hayes punching him. MVP beats him up until Mysterio hits the ring and fights with MVP until officials separate the two.
Finlay def. Deuce. Nice promo before match with Hornswoggle pretending to drive Deuce/Domino's car. Entertaining match. Khali comes into the ring and beats down Finlay before leaving.
Batista comes out to be a guest commentator for the Main Event.
Main Event: Kane def Edge by DQ. Excellent match. Kane throws steps into ring. Edge hits Kane with chair shots then places kane on the steps for a con"chair"too. Batista charges the ring to save Kane, lights go out, Takers music hits, light on, he has his hands around Edge's neck ready to chokeslam him. Batista spears Undertaker, Edge runs from ring with Batista looking on. This may have been the end of the taping. Undertaker sets up and proceeds to beat Batista down and leaves the ring area.
Biggest Pops:
1 - Undertaker
2 - Batista
3 - Hornswoggle
4 - Balls Mahoney/Kelly Kelly
5 - Rey Mysterio
Most Heat:
1 - Edge
2 - MVP
3 - Great Khali
4 - Big Daddy V
5 - Morrison/Miz
Overall very entertaining shows, started at 7:30, over around 11:15. Nearly 4 hrs long with one 10 min intermission to change from ECW to Smackdown. There were a lot of wrestlers there who did not have matches. Only disappointing parts of the night was Rey Mysterio, MVP, and Undertaker were not in matches. Also, the advertised Main Event between Batista and Edge, presumed to be a dark match, did not take place.
