Media piece on Brock Lesnar's UFC debut, Batista - Edge, Bret Hart note

Adam Lebow sent this in: Was just watching Sportsnet Connected, and they aired a 3:30 focus feature on Brock Lesnar, and his shift from WWE to NFL to K1 and now to UFC. The WWE footage that was mostly used was the footage from the ring imposion angle he did with Big Show on Smackdown a few years back. The first 3 minutes of the video is available at this link. After that, they did a 30 second piece with Showdown Joe Ferraro, who basically said that the UFC took a risk booking this match against Frank Mir and he expects Lesnar to lose. Interesting that they would do a 3 minute focus on a guy who the Sportsnet analyst doesn't expect to win.

Alpo Murdoch sent this in: On SmackDown, they are promoting the Batista/Edge rivalry, by using the 'fact' that Batista has never beaten Edge via pinfall or submission in a World Title match. This statement is largely false, as Batista defeated Edge in May 2005 on Monday Night Raw via pinfall in a World Heavyweight Championship match. For those that remember, Edge was the winner of the 'Gold Rush' tournament, where the winner would receive a title shot against Batista. The tournament ran from the May 2nd, to May 16th. Edge was then promptly defeated by a Batista Bomb in his first ever World Title match, after defeating Kane (with Lita's 'turn' aiding that) in the final. Not sure if this is noteworthy, but it seems like the WWE should do some history-checks before adding storylines like that.

Devin Cutting sent this in: Notes from Bret Hart's autograph signing in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada on December 3rd, 2007:

The signing was originally scheduled to begin at 7 PM, but Bret had arrived & was signing copies of his book at 6 PM.

The store sold every copy of Bret's book that they had in stock. Less than 10 copies remained at 6:30 PM, a whole 30 minutes before the signing's original start time.

The store was literally full of people that were waiting to meet Bret for 90 minutes. From 6 PM until around 7:30 PM, if someone came to the store to purchase a book that wasn't Bret's, a member of the store's staff had to be sent into the store to get the book. Bret's fans had completely engulfed the store & the line stretched out into the mall.

Bret was very pleased by the turnout. He wasn't sure if it was the largest turnout on his tour, but he was very happy & excited with the size of the crowd in Cambridge.

Bret continued to sign books after 8 PM as a lot of people were still waiting to meet him.
