WrestleBowl '08 Update

As Announced at the last NWA Upstate show, WrestleBowl '08 will feature 3 of the top stars in NWA Upstate in the same ring at the same time...

NWA Upstate Heavyweight Championship Match:

Jimmy Olsen (c) vs. "Fabulous" John McChesney (w/Star Rider) vs. Danny Doring

This is the second title shot for the Fabulous One who fell short in his one-on-one match with Olsen at Holiday Hangover and Doring's first title shot since returning to Upstate earlier this year. It was Doring who interfered in the Olsen-McChesney title match, which set off a post-match brawl among the three. With Doring a former Upstate Champion, and McChesney winning this year's Indy-Tational, Olsen might be facing the biggest challenge of his young career.

NWA National & Empire Champion Pepper Parks vs. Cody Deaner

After coming off a successful NWA National Title defense over Homicide at "Holiday Hangover," Pepper Parks is looking to roll into 2008 with more momentum than any other superstar in NWA Upstate. His first opponent of 2008 is the man from the trailer parks of Mulletville, Ontario, Canada... Cody Deaner. Deaner teamed up with Dunn & Marcos to defeat Tag Team Champions Rhythm & Booze and Sweet Lou at "Holiday Hangover." Deaner is a veteran of the ring wars himself and will be no pushover for the double champion, especially if Pepper's National Heavyweight Title will be on the line.

Other Upstate News...

It appears a new rivalry has started in Upstate over the No Limits Title. It was at Holiday Hangover where the No Limits Champion Cheech defended the title against "The Guns of Black Mountain" Gabe Saint. It was a hard-fought match that saw Saint come close to winning the title on several occassions. But the action eventually spilled out of the ring and both men were counted out much to the dismay of the wreslers and the fans in attendance. After the match, Saint grabbed Cheech's title but only to put it around his waist in a great show of respect and sportmanship. This was interrupted by CloudLee (Cloudy & "The Right Stuff" Brodie Lee) who came out and rained on Saint and Cheech's parade. CloudLee called the two soft and didn't like how they were sucking up to the fans. Saint and Cheech responded by dropkicking both Cloudy and Lee to the outside. It looked to the four men were about to face off again until The McCloud Brothers came out and went after CloudLee which led to...

The McCloud Brothers vs. CloudLee

Another back-and-forth match that saw the McCloud Brothers get the win when Evan pinned Brodie Lee with a sunset flip off the top rope. For Evan & Kyle, it's the biggest win of their careers, as well as one of the biggest upsets in Upstate history considering CloudLee's ability and experience and the knock that the McCloud Brothers had not yet won any big matches in Upstate. The victory propels the Fighting Irishmen from Boston up the tag team ranks and could put them in a line for a shot at the Tag Team Titles held by Rhythm & Booze.

New Six-Man Tag Team Champions

NWA Upstate has a new faction AND new Six-Man Tag Team Champions in the Latin Soldiers (Maximo Suave, Luis Whiteshoes, & Stargazer). The trio from Puerto Rico won the the Six-Man Trophy at Holiday Hangover defeating then-champions Triple X, Eric Everlast, & The Masked Aasassin (subbing for Sweet Lou). What was odd about the match was that there was no teamwork from the champions as Triple X and The Masked Assassin never tagged in Everlast and would constantly berate Everlast to do something when he was inside the squared circle. Eventually "The Exceptioal Icon" had heard enough and went after his own partners! But the distraction allowed Maximo and Whiteshoes to rollup Everlast for the pin. But instead of being upset with his opponents, Everlast shook hands with The Latin Soldiers and congratulated them on winning the trophy. Suffice to say, this has not sit well with Triple X and The Masked Assassin and you have to believe the problems between the former champions have just gotten started.

Havana Pitbull Invades Upstate

It was also at Holiday Hangover where "The Havana Pitbull" Ricky Reyes made his Upstate debut, defeating "The Black Jesus" Sabian in another stiff, hard-fought battle with Reyes making Sabian tap out to his patented dragon sleeper. Reyes, known by many as "The Master of the Dragon Sleeper", will be returning to Upstate at WrestleBowl '08 with the same goals in mind. To hurt his oppponent and to make an impact.

That is the Upstate Update. Check out the following sites for Upstate news, info, and updates.
