I was at the 15th Anniversary show in Bridgeport, CT and I have plenty of notes from the show.
Dark Match: D.H. Smith def. Steve Corino
Raw:
The opening was great combining all the previous Raw openings.
Show begins with the McMahons. Hornswoggle is very over with the fans. Thunderous ovation for Triple H when he came out. Lots of laughs with the comments Triple H was making about being "part of the family". It was great to see Sunny and the shape she is in. She got a nice pop as well. More humor wth Triple H bringing out Howard Finkel, The Stooges Brisco and Patterson, Big Dick Johnson, unbelievably Bastion Booger and Brooklyn Brawler alter ego Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz. The Triple H and Stephanie kiss was surprising but it was nice for them to actually acknowledge what everyone obviously already knows. The Godfather and the Ho Train was a great way to wrap it up although the crowd was kind of quiet.
The Ladder Match was pretty good. Both men took some bumps. Carlito getting back body dropped on the ladder. And Jeff taking the Sunset Flip Powerbomb from the ladder. Not surprised that the "rainbow-haired warrior" won. In my opinion Jeff Hardy should win this Sunday but I doubt it will happen.
Shawn Micheaels promo with Marty Jannetty. Funny spot with Michaels he was Mrrrrrrr. HBK....HBK.
Santino Marella came out and was issuing an open challenge. I don't think anybody was expecting him as the crowd went nuts. RVD easily defeats Marella with the 5-Star.
It was great to see Triple H, Batista and Ric Flair back together again. Nice to see Team Rated RKO together again. Evolution wins which was no surprise.
Hornswoggle vs Great Khali
Hulk Hogan's ovation blew the roof off the place. Khali looked horrible against Hogan but oh well. Hogan takes out Khali. Hogan talks then classic poses with Hornswoggle. I was surprised to see the black and white and not the red and yellow.
The Battle Royal was great. Best ovations for Steve Blackman, who is in great physical shape, Pete Gas who is from just down the road in Greenwich, Gangrel, Sgt. Slaughter and unbeliveably Gillberg. I nearly died laughing when I saw him. I.R.S. wins and then Ted DiBiase comes out and pays him to leave in a classic moment.
Jericho/Bischoff Segment
Crowd was kinda dead until Jericho came out and then was dead again until Jericho knocked down Bischoff. Orton comes out and gets a Walls of Jericho and taps. Too bad that won't happen Sunday. It was great to see Jericho again though.
Tag Team Championship
I was shocked. A title change on Raw and the tag titles at that. I'm happy for Cody Rhodes and its great that his father the American Dream was there to see it. I'm happy for Hardcore Holly too because hes been through a lot.
Jillian comes out and sings horribly. Trish comes out to a great ovation. Lita follows to another great ovation and then gets in Trish's face. Jillian runs her mouth and takes a beating for it.
Backstage with Kane and Lita was funny. Ron Simmons and Damn too.
The Kennedy vs Marty Jannetty match was dull to say the least. It was great to see Jannetty but the arena was quiet throughout the entire match. I think most people knew Kennedy would win. Huge pop for HBK when he made the save. Triple H appears again on the show with DX gear on. The crowd loved DX. During the commercial break DX did there normal DX routine with "Let's get ready to suck it." and "If your not down with that, we've got 2 words for ya...Suck It!"
Vince McMahon comes to the ring to make the announcement of Raw's biggest superstar. After making it seem like it'd be somebody great he named himself to lots of boos. Mick Foley, dressed as Mankind comes out and gives Mr. Socko to McMahon to many cheers. The lights go off and the gong hits and the Deadman makes his slow march to the ring. It was deafening in the arena as he walked out. McMahon gets up, turns around and chokeslam. Taker leaves, Austin hits the ring. After giving McMahon a beer...pause....Stunner! Huge pop for this. Then the company beer bash to end the show.
Notes from the beer bash:
Bob Backland did not drink a beer, he had water.
Jeff Hardy was pounding them down.
So was the Great Khali.
The "Straight Edge" superstar C.M. Punk drank, which is a big mistake obviously since it doesnt follow his gimmick.
Without a doubt the best show I've ever been to. This makes passed shows I've been to suck and I've seen some good shows.
