12/28/2007 Philips Arena Raw House Show results.
Hey it's Paul here from Atlanta. I just wanted to drop in and give the results of the Raw Live House Show at Philips Arena tonight. This was the first non-televised WWE event in Philips Arena history. Lucky for me I got great seats and sat 3rd row ringside. Wow what a view!
Bell time was 7:30
1st Match - William Regal vs. Drew McIntyre: A lot of submission holds and arm locks. Not much heavy duty hitting. About an 8 or 9 minute match seeing Regal win it with a running knee to the head of McIntyre.
2nd Match - Super Crazy vs. Vladimir Kozlov: An average match at best. Kozlov got the win on Crazy in about 7 minutes with a weird belly to belly suplex.
3rd match - Santino Marella vs. D.H. Smith: Santino was not impressive in the ring tonight. D.H. got the win with a powerslam on Santino. Funny note is me and people in my section started a nice "You take steroids" chant at D.H.
4th Match: Triple Threat Tag Team Match for the World Tag Team Titles - Cade and Murdoch vs. London and Kendrick vs. Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes (C): A great match with good spots and great work from all 3 teams. Cody got the DDT on Murdoch to retain the belts.
5th Match: Randy Orton (C) vs. Y2J Chris Jericho for the WWE Championship: An awesome back and forth match between both guys. It lasted about 15 minutes or so. As always though, Orton got DQ'ed by grabbing the refs leg and pulled him down to the mat with the ref ringing the bell. Orton received a codebreaker from Y2J after the match.
INTERMISSION
6th Match: Maria and Mickie James vs. Melina and Beth Phoenix: It was a pleasant surprise to see Mickie and Maria get the win. It was a good match with good work from all 4. Mickie got the driving DDT on Melina to win it. Mickie hugged a lot of fans around ringside after the match.
7th Match: Mr. Kennedy vs. Jeff Hardy (C) for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Kennedy cut a promo on how southern people are slow this and that. He made Tony Chimel stand in the corner facing the turnbuckle. Before the match started, I was by the railing where Kennedy was looking. (Lucky for me I got 3rd row ringside) I had my Kennedy T-Shirt on and he motioned to me (so I thought) to call him later. I'm like what the hell and then I seen this HUUUGE lady to my right and I breathed a sigh of relief. Thought Kennedy may have been a little gay for a minute, lol. This was a good match for both guys. Kennedy is slowly getting better in the ring. Just got to keep putting good wrestlers to match up against. Hardy put the swanton on Kennedy to retain the title.
Main Event: Triple H vs. Umaga in a STEEL CAGE match. This was a pleasant surprise to say the least. No one was expecting this. Regal announced it before his match during his promo and got a big big pop from the crowd including myself. The match was back and forth, and Triple H got the win after making Umaga straddle the top ropes, then the pedigree. Triple H spent about 5 to 6 minutes shaking hands and hi-fiving every single fan he could at ringside after the match.
Overall, a great great show live. About 7 thousand showed up. Not a bad number for a house show. Unfortunate thing is though, this MAY be the last WWE show in Georgia, because these idiot legislators want to regulate wrestling. Way to possibly ruin the fun for little kids who want to see their favorite wrestlers in the future.
