The following took place on Sunday in Richmond, VA:
Dark Matches:
- Nunzio defeated Nick Nemeth.
- The Great Khali defeated Tommy Dreamer.
ECW on Sci Fi Tapings (January 1):
- The show opened with ECW GM Armando Estrada. Chavo Guerrero came out and explained why he attacked CM Punk, noting that he sat at home and watched Punk call himself the future of WWE. Punk came out and got in Chavo's face. Chavo demanded a title shot. Estrada announced Punk vs. Chavo later tonight where if Chavo won, he would get his title shot.
- Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore & Kelly Kelly defeated WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison & The Miz & Layla.
- Tazz interviewed wrestler Colin Delaney in the ring. Colin said his resolution for 2008 was to become a WWE superstar (in ECW?). Colin's opponent is then announced...Big Daddy V.
- Big Daddy V defeated Colin Delaney.
- Shelton Benjamin defeated James Curtis.
- ECW Champion CM Punk defeated Chavo Guerrero via countout.
WWE Friday Night Smackdown Tapings (January 4):
- Vickie Guerrero kicked off the show welcoming everyone to the first Smackdown of 2008 and announced the "Beat the Clock" challenge for tonight where the winner will earn at World Heavyweight Title shot at the Royal Rumble.
- Jonathan "The Coach" Coachman was announced as the new color commentator for Smackdown along with Michael Cole with JBL heading to Raw.
- Finlay w/ Hornswoggle defeated WWE U.S. Champion MVP in a "Beat the Clock" challenge. After the match, Vince McMahon came out and celebrated with Hornswoggle and ignored Finlay.
- Kenny Dykstra & Victoria defeated Chuck Palumbo & Michelle McCool.
- Chavo Guerrero defeated Funaki in a "Beat the Clock" challenge.
- Batista vs. The Edgeheads ended before Batista could beat the clock.
- Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore defeated Deuce & Domino.
- The Undertaker vs. Mark Henry in a "Beat the Clock" challenge with Matt Striker as the special guest referee saw time expire when Undertaker hit Henry with a chokeslam, go for the pinfall, but Striker wouldn't count the final three count and left the ring as time expired. After the match, Striker said if Undertaker wanted to go through him, he would have to do it through Big Daddy V.
- Rey Mysterio defeated World Heavyweight Champion Edge in a Non-Title "Beat the Clock" Challenge to earn the title shot against Edge at the Royal Rumble. Batista came out and took out The Edgeheads at ringside. The Undertaker also appeared in the entrance area, the lights went out and when they came back on Edge was down on the ropes in position to get a 619 from Mysterio. Mysterio hit the 619 and got the pinfall with over a minute left to get the title shot.
Post-Taping Bonus Match:
- Batista defeated World Heavyweight Champion Edge via DQ. After the match, Batista and The Undertaker cleared house taking out The Edgeheads.
