Pro's from the Palace (#227) - Picks & more 4 TNA Final Resolution PPV |

It's time to get back in to business, and try and improve on my .500 record for last year's picks during TNA pay per views. Witrh the Final Resolution Pay Per View tomorrow night, I'll try and improve on my dispicible showing at this PPV last year, when I lost 7 of 8 matches. Let's go to work.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage
Isn't TNA supposed to be the 'alternative' of wrestling normalcy? Angle vs. Cage is a match we've seen millons of times in other facets of pro wrestling, specifically, WWE, and although I am happy for Cage fighting for his third world championship, there is no way on the face of God's green earth that I can get anywhere close to pumped up for this match. Sure, both men are excellent competitors, and will deliver a good match, but we all know it's going to not be a clean finish with this idiotic swerve deal with AJ Styles involved in this, and frankly, one of TNA's biggest problems during these pay per views is always coming up with cloudy finishes to matches that need a clear and distinct degree of closure. Here, it'd be nice to see if Cage could beat Angle one on one, but if you think that's truly going to happen, you're crazy. Angle finds a way to swerve the world and keep the belt, and keep the monopoly time going on Spike TV as TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
WINNER: Kurt Angle
ULTIMATE X MATCH FOR POSSESSION OF THE X CHAMPIONSHIP The Motor City Machineguns and "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Team 3D and Johnny Devine
The premise for this match is just silly. Possession of the X title. It's silly. It's not even worth the price of admission. However, with that being said, I'd be lying to say I wouldn't watch this to see how Bubba and D'Von fare in the chaos and mayhem that is Ultimate X. Neither member of 3D is known for being aerial experts, while all three men on the opposing team can definitely fly, with Sabin being a UX almost expert. I know the saying, if a talent like Samoa Joe can handle the stressors of Ultimate X, then 3D can do it. The only way that 3D would have a chance, and they can do this, is to pound the Guns and Lethal in to near oblivion so they can take their time climbing the wires to get the belts. Can they do that? Certainly, but they're not facing a trio of pushovers here. Personally, this is a challenge that 3D has never faced, and I am not sure they're prepared to. It's tailor made for the Guns and Lethal to get the win and get the X Division title back to the Black Machismo.
WINNERS: The Motor City Machineguns & Black Machismo Jay Lethal
TNA Tag Team Championship AJ Styles and Tomko vs. Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash
Explain to me if you could the logic of putting Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash together as a team. Ten years ago, if Joe was Joe back then as he is now, and Nash had a pair of knees, I would be in love with this team, and would love to see how this plays out. Any chance, also, of getting AJ Styles & Samoa Joe in a ring together on opposing teams is worth the price of admission alone. However, Styles will be distracted in this storyline of idiotic proportions involving the world title match, and Tomko will probably face this challenge nearly alone. I wonder if part of me thinks that TNA may be pissed at Tomko because he is such a part of New Japana. I don't have any proof to back that up, but the lcaim in itself is legitimate, I think. Anyway, back to the obvious, Nash's knees are too much of a weak spot.
WINNERS: AJ Styles & Tomko
TNA WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong
The world pretty much knows Awesome Kong is the uncrowned TNA Women's Champion. It's just a matter of where and when. As technically sound as Kim is, Kong can be as well, and Kong is just too damn big. Kong is almost double the size of Gail Kim, and when she left WWE, I questioned her toughness in this business because of her svelt frame, and in a rivalry like this, that toughness question is put to the absolute ultimate litmus test. From where I sit, I don't see Kim passing. Kong will win the women's title sunday night, and proceed to demolish any one and everyone in her path until TNA can figure out a way in a gimmick match of sorts to take the belt away from her.
WINNER: Awesome Kong
Booker T and Sharmell vs. Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks
I have to question this one from the word go. One thing WWE did right was to not put Sharmell in the ring. Yes, Sharmell does have some experience, to my knowledge, back in the days of WCW, but when you're out of the loop that long, and then to return in a match with a competitor as talented as Traci Brooks, it's dangerous. And an unnecessary risk, from where I sit. Booker and Roode will probably dominate the action in this match, and while I enjoy Roode's heel gimmick, I don't like the abusive aspect of it toward Traci, and I think it's time to cut away the baggage. Hopefully, this may be the spot to do so. Anyway, Booker gets the win in the continued build up of another former WWE talent leading to a world title run. I would not be the least bit surprised to see Booker T be the next challenger for the TNA World strap. And that, ladies and gentlemen, no disrespect to the talents of the Bookerman, but that, is a travesty.
WINNERS: Booker T. & Sharmell
Abyss vs. Judas Mesias
What? Where's the stipulations? Where's the insane title of matches that Abyss always seems to find himself involved in here? It's just a straight one on one, Mesias vs. Abyss? I'm stunned. Mesias wins this match as the feud seems to have turned in the favor of Jim Mitchell. Personally, I can't deal with any more of Abyss' secrets. I would personally just like to see Mitchell shut up, let Mesias loose, and let's see who stands at the end, because both men will bleed, an both men will endure punishment unimaginable. But, we all know Mitchell has never seen a microphone he doesn't love, and I don't think that we're going to get the straight hardcore chaos we should in a match like this. It's a shame, too, because I could think these guys could deliver some major carnage, if given the chance.
WINNER: Judas Mesias
Kaz vs. Black Reign
Now I don't get this. It appeared from all signs that Kaz was headed to an X Division title shot. Now, instead of fighting Lethal for the belt, he goes in to a match with, as my buddy Sean would say, "Blackdust." I thought Black Reign had potential when I first saw him go up against Chris Harris at Hard Justice, but let's be honest. It's another stale Dustin Rhodes idea to get work, and when it comes to the forefront, it's not working. I think Reign will win here, strictly because Kaz doesn't lose anything by dropping this match, and if we go on paper, Kaz can't go hardcore like Rhodes can. Yes, Kaz spent time in Serotonin with Raven, but Kaz has never been one to bring the pain the way Rhodes will. I think that's your turning point, and the reason Black Reign wins the match. But, like I said, it's not going to hurt Kaz's stature in TNA, because frankly, I don't think anyone knows what his place is, anyway.
WINNER: Black Reign
The Latin American Xchange vs. Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Raven w/ Christy Hemme
I have seen the lineup for the card in two different websites, and both have it listed as Jimmy Raven. Personally, there's no way Rave would change his work name to Raven unless there's some major league swerve going on. Since, to the best of my knowledge, there isn't even a contract with Rave for TNA work, I doubt that there's a swerve, and it's probably just a typo. Now, we get down to the fact that Hoyt and Rave, Christy or not, is facing the best tag team in TNA, bar none. LAX can just bring it, in levels unparalleled by anyone. Only reason they're not the champs is the suits in the back, as far as I am concerned. This one won't be a squash, but it won't be difficult. LAX puts Hemme's team to sleep, for the forseeable future. WINNERS: The Latin American XChange
