Frank Mir defeated former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in the first round via knee bar submission just minutes ago at UFC 81.

TNA World Champion Kurt Angle, The Undertaker and Steve Austin were all shown on camera before the Brock Lesnar/Frank Mir fight.

Breakdown of Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir:

- Lesnar got an early takedown on Mir right away. Lesnar went to sidemount during the takedown. Lesnar started hitting Mir with tons of punches and hammerfists. Some of the hammerfists caught Mir on the back of the head and the referee jumped in to stop it.

- The crowd thought the fight was over when the referee jumped in to stop. The referee took a point away from Lesnar for the repeated shots to the back of the head on Mir.

- The fight resumed with both back on their feet and Lesnar caught Mir with a surprising punch combination that dropped Mir. Lesnar jumped on Mir and went for more punches and hammerfists to the head. Mir grabbed Lesnar's arm looking for a submission, but Lesnar got out of it.

- When Lesnar stood back up, Mir grabbed his leg and tripped up Lesnar. Mir then locked in the knee bar submission on Lesnar's leg. Lesnar tapped out. Mir defeats Lesnar via knee bar submission in Round 1.

Note from Adam Martin: Despite the loss, Brock Lesnar no doubt has a future in the UFC's Heavyweight Division after that performance tonight. It's safe to say he surprised a lot of people with his striking. The lack of experience is ultimately what came into play with someone like Frank Mir involved, but Lesnar looked a lot better than I'm sure some were expecting.
