At today's New Japan event at Sumo Hall, Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Kurt Angle to officially unify the two versions of the IWGP Title in the main event.

Other matches on the card featuring TNA talent saw Hiroshi Tanahashi defeat AJ Styles, Togi Makabe & Toru Yano defeated Tomko & Giant Bernard to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles and Christopher Daniels defeated IWGP Jr. Champion Wataru Inoue in a non-title match.

It should be noted that Yuji Nagata, who competed against Kurt Angle on the "Global Impact" special for the IWGP Title, was rushed to the hospital earlier in the day when he showed up at Sumo Hall for the show complaining of severe pain in the brain and no control of the left side of his body. Although he was speaking clearly and his right side appeared to be fine, the belief is that he may have suffered a stroke. Nagata had been suffering from severe headaches two weeks ago, but continued to wrestle and never got it checked out.
