1967: El Mongol & Oki Shikina, managed by Jack Crawford, defeated Billy & Bad Boy Hines in the main event at the Macon City Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Fred Ward.
1969: Assassin #2 & the Professional defeated Ray Gunkel & Buddy Fuller by countout to retain the Georgia Tag Team Title at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium for Georgia Championship Wrestling promoter Paul Jones. During the match, Assassin #2 & the Pro squabbled about something in their corner, and Assassin #1 charged the ring, dropkicking Fuller and knocking him from the ring, resulting in referee Leo Garibaldi counting him out, despite the countout rule being waived for the match. The decision was later held up pending a review. According to the program for this card, the results of the NWA investigation into the February 28, 1969, match between the Assassins and Gunkel & Fuller, where Crawford interfered, were announced. It was decided that since the Assassins had fired Crawford, showing they disapproved of his actions on their behalf, they would only be reprimanded and fined. However, the World Tag Team Title held by the Assassins was still held up pending further investigation in the matter. It was reported that Crawford admitted to the actions, but accused the Assassins of giving him specific instructions to interfere if they got into any trouble and the title seemed to be in jeopardy. Still, his admission of guilt resulted in the NWA suspending him from Georgia indefinitely. Assassin #1 defeated El Mongol to win the Georgia Heavyweight Title in the semi-main event.
1970: On the “Atlanta TV Wrestling” television program hosted by Ed Capral, Homer O’Dell, who managed Buddy Colt, told Capral he would have a surprise partner teaming with Colt against Greg Peterson & Tim Geohagen on March 27, 1970.

GCW TN-mAyhem
Oshawa

Referees: Sean Cassidy, Jon Turnip
Quick Results:
1) Akira Raijin def Josh Alexander by submission
2) Rico Montana def Sebastian Suave
3) Ontario Independent Championship 5-Way Match:
Phil Atlas def Xtremo (C), Brad "Freakin" Martin, Crazy Steve & Steve Brown to win the title when he pinned Martin
4) Handicap Match:
Cody Deaner def The Flatliners (Matt Burns & Asylum) by DQ
5) OTT (Jake O'Reilly & Otis Idol) def The Davis Brothers (Andrew & Bruno)
6) Hayden Avery def "Badass" Billy Gunn
Detailed results:
~Show opened with Gentleman Geoff hyping the card & Dr Mask tossing free swag to the fans
1) Akira Raijin vs Josh Alexander
Alexander out first to a mixed reaction. Akira out next... or is it? He's lost a ton of weight and wears different gimmicks since his last Ontario appearance. Looks like a cross between Tajiri & the Great Muta. Fans soon rallied behind Alexander with chants of "Can-a-da"
Basic armbars & mat holds to start until Josh hits a wicked German suplex to open things up a bit. Lots of hard hitting and suplexes from both guys. Akira's closest chance at a pin came after a nice kneedrop to the head from the ropes. Fans began chanting "TKO" every time Alexander had the advantage but he never got the opportunity to pull off the move.
Akira side-stepped a dive off the top and locked Josh in a crossface to earn the submission and the win. Good opener.
2) Sebastian Suave vs Rico Montana
Suave came out without his usual manager Jamie Virtue (Apparently Virtue's being held without bail on charges of chicken rape) Montana's size advantage very apparent and he tossed Suave around with ease in the early moments.
Suave targeted a leg to put the big man down and the bulk of the match saw him working that limb in between bursts of defensive power moves from Montana. When Suave tried for a butt drop to Montana's leg on the ropes, Rico booted his ass over the top to the floor.
Montana followed Suave outside & dodged a legdrop on the apron but got caught with a neck stretch over the top rope. Back inside the ring, Rico caught Suave with what looked to be a chokeslam set-up but instead he tossed him skyward by the throat, caught him on his shoulders and crushed him with a twirling powerbomb for the pin & the win.
I thought Suave's intensity was a little weak for a guy facing a much larger opponent - he seemed almost gentle when working the leg in the ropes. Any other outcome would have been a shock
~Former Interim Canadian Champion, Phil Atlas came out to the ring and began to list all his various accomplishments while the fans let him know how much he sucks.
Ontario Independent Champion, Xtremo, came to the ring and said he'd seen Otis Idol spear Phil's ass through a table at the last show (Cabin Fever) and therefor Idol was better than Atlas & so was he. Xtremo offerred to put his belt on the line against Atlas and they agreed that would be cool.
Suddenly Brad "Freakin" Martin came out to the ring and borrowed a few lines from Alanis Morrisette's "Hand in My Pocket" to explain what he had been doing in the back while listening to Atlas & Xtremo. Martin said he deserved a shot at the title so they decided a 3-Way match would be cool.
More music played and Steve Brown came out to the ring. Brown swallowed the pork roast he was chewing on and said he'd been "killing everyone in GCW" and he deserved a title shot as well. In short order, they decided a 4-Way match would be cool.
"Crazy Train" blared over the speakers and Crazy Steve came out to the ring (To the biggest pop yet) Steve asked Xtremo if this was where the figure-skating competition was. Steve grabbed Xtremo's title belt and the champ asked for it back. The question of whether to make a 5-way match was put to the floor and all the wrestlers & fans agreed that would be cool. Xtremo asked Steve if he'd fight him for the title and Steve responded by punching him in the face.
3) Ontario Independent Championship; 5-Way Match:
Xtremo (C) Phil Atlas vs Brad "Freakin" Martin vs Steve Brown vs Crazy Steve
Xtremo wanted Atlas in the ring but Phil kept his distance. Brown played immovable object to Crazy Steve's ping pong ball attack. Phil Atlas and Brown tagged in and out to wear Steve down then Martin took over as fans started to rally behind the face-painted lunatic. Atlas and Xtremo finally ended up facing each other and after a great little exchange of moves, Xtremo nailed a code red for a near fall that was broken up by the other three.
Bodies were down all over the place and the over-the-top maneuvers to the outside began in earnest. Steve went out first onto Brown and Martin. Atlas flattend Xtremo in the ring during his set-up to go then Atlas launched himself onto Brown, Martin & Steve. (A scary looking flip that landed kinda short.) Xtremo then did his big aerial move onto the other 4 guys.
Back inside the ring, Atlas took out Xtremo then was crushed by Martin. Martin was immediately spiked with a vicious piledriver from Steve. Steve then followed Brown to the dressing room in an effort to save the buffet table from further attacks.
That left Martin hanging on the apron and Atlas down in the ring while Xtremo scaled the ropes calling for his 450 splash. Atlas dodged Xtremo's 450 and the champ hit the mat and rolled to the apron. Martin staggered back into the ring and Atlas planted him for the pin to win the championship.
4) Handicap Match:
Cody Deaner vs The Flatliners (Asylum & Matt Burns)
This match had a stipulation attached: Deaner had to beat the Flatliners (and his tag partner, Hayden Avery, had to beat his opponent) or he and Avery would never ever... EVER get a title shot again. Ever.
Flats came out first all cocky smiles & shiny title belts. When Deaner arrived he elected to go and pour sugar on the fans rather than climb in the ring. Eventually Burns & Asylum ran out of things to talk about and decided to go after the mullet outside the ring but Cody wouldn't leave the protective ranks of the Oshawa fans.
The Flatliners grew weary of the wait and went to return to the ring which gave Deaner the chance to attack from behind and gain a quick advantage over his two larger opponents. ("Larger" LOL, Oh yea... they're HUGE alright. Or so a lot of people in these parts thought... but more about that later.)
Deaner had Burns & Asylum reeling as he rammed their heads into the apron and the upraised boots, switchblades and punji sticks of the front row fans. The Flatliners finally got the upper hand and began pummeling Deaner as the Robotwats chanted "Baldie & the Beast" and the bell rang to officially start the match.
Burns & Asylum traded off blatant chokes and pin attempts before working together to mutilate Deaner with a sideslam/neckbreaker combination. Deaner escaped a cover after that and the beatdown continued if front of a quieter crowd. A minor rally brought a spirited "Let's go Deaner" chant that was quickly silenced when the Flats cut him off.
Cody came back strong after slipping a pick-up from Asylum as Burns scaled the ropes for their Death From Above finisher. Asylum was shoved into the ropes and Burns slipped from the turnbuckle to land taint-first on the support chain. Deaner hit a stunned Asylum with Sliced Bread but abandoned the cover at two. Good thing too, as Burns was dropping from the top rope with an elbow - he ended up nailing his own partner.
Deaner hit Sliced Bread on Burns but only scored a 2 count. Seconds later the Flatliners caught Deaner and smashed him to pieces with an elevated pick-up into a powerbomb! Somehow... despite every bone in his body being shattered, Cody kicked out of the pin.
Asylum threw a tantrum, screaming "No! No! No!" while fans responded with the opposite (Do I really have to type "Yes! Yes! Yes!"?... wait, I just did. - nevermind.)
Burns alternately choked and covered Deaner while arguing with Ref Turnip. (Which clearly demonstrates that Burns wasn't totally in control of his faculties - imagine, trying to talk sense to Turnip!) Meanwhile, Asylum left the ring, murdered a fan and stole the chair out from under the corpse.
Ref Turnip met Asylum at the ropes and gave him hell. ("If you're gonna murder a fan, ya could have at least picked Trevor!") Deaner snuck up behind Burns and punched him right in the cock.
With Asylum & the Ref still at the ropes arguing Canadian law and Burns lamenting the damage to his groin area, Deaner had the chance to dig in his man-bag and retrieve a small chain. He tossed the chain to Burn's, who reflexively caught it, and then laid down on the canvas like he was knocked out AND...
Turnip and Asylum continued to argue at the ropes while Burns stood in the ring staring stupidly at the chain in his hands. Deaner raised his head & looked around to see wtf was going on... saw the above described tableau and rolled his eyes back up into his head in disgust. He put a finger to hips lips in an effort to tell fans Please don't ever tell anyone about the finish of this match and then pretended he was knocked out again (while no doubt wishing he really was.)
Eventually Turnip turned around and saw Burns with the chain in his hands. Then he turned around and argued with Asylum some more (this time they were actually laughing about the ridiculous look on Burn's face while he stood there wondering what exactly he was supposed to do.) Deaner lifted his head & looked around again but there was no escape... he was still trapped in the finish from Hell. So... he laid back down and pretended to be knocked out again.
Turnip finally "caught" Burns with the chain and noticed Deaner was laying on the mat, apparently knocked out. Turnip turned his back on all 3 wrestlers and began asking fans if Burns had hit Deaner with the chain. They responded with a resounding "Well, DUH!" Deaner began twitching as Asylum grabbed Turnip and said "This is all your fault!"
Turnip started pouting and disqualified the Flatliners. Burns & Asylum chased Turnip to the back, beat him up and hung him from a ceiling fan by his underwear.
Deaner celebrated his incredible underdog victory with the surprisingly still happy fans then returned to the back as GCW support staff removed the body of the fan Asylum murdered.
5) The Davis Brothers (Andrew & Bruno) vs OTT (Jake O'Reilly & Otis Idol)
The Davis Brothers are quite a sight... Bruno's now bald which adds to his crazy Neanderthal-like character. His outfit looks more like IKEA bath-mats than fur. Andrew wears a sweater under his t-shirt and looks like a 70s era grappler with his body shape & trunks. He seems to like lollipops.
Otis came out to the ring area wearing his Interim Canadian Championship belt but there was no sign of his partner Jake O'Reilly (A rumor quickly spread that Jake was battering Turnip like a pinata but that proved to be false when Ontario's 'favorite' ref was spotted in the ring.)
Idol said he had some "good news and some bad news" The 'bad news' was that Jake had re-injured his knee while preparing for the match. (That's the "official" story... he really injured it while kicking Deaner, Burns & Asylum in the ass for the finish of the previous match.) Otis said O'Reilly wouldn't be wrestling tonight.
The 'good news' was that Idol was the Interim Canadian Champion and, PSCHE! Jake IS going to wrestle! Fans erupted in cheers while Andrew choked on his lollipop and Bruno snorted and farted at the appearance of Jake at ringside.
The Davis Bros vacated the ring to give OTT their moment shilling to fans. Otis initiated a "Welcome back" chant but fans decided to go with "O-T-T" instead. (Oshawa fans may be uber-mark sheep but even they won't follow a shepard with dreadlocks.)
Andrew 'wanted' O'Reilly but jumped Otis when he turned to tag him in and the match was finally underway. Jake & Otis quickly siezed early control and fans supplied a rousing "Jake O-Reilly" chant every time Jake was in the ring (Which HAD to be damaging to Idol's ego since they'd already rejected his choice of pre-match chant.)
Bruno was his usual crazy-ass self and Otis soon learned the hard way about letting "Bam Bam" pick you up. Andrew & Bruno enjoyed an advantage as they beat on both OTT guys for quite some time.
Andrew covered Jake but Otis came off the top with a legdrop to break up the pin. He and Bruno spilled out onto the floor where Otis suplexed the bath-mat clad caveman. Meanwhile, Jake crushed Andrew inside the ring to win the match for OTT.
The Davis Brothers took off and Jake scaled the ropes to accept the cheers and showers of money thrown by the fans. Otis came up behind him and tried to put the Canadian title belt around his waist. Jake grabbed the belt and then asked for the mic. It took a few moments because ring announcer, Gentleman Geoff, was mackin' out on a toothless cousin of GCW president David Wyldstar but eventually, Jake was able to address the crowd.
He barely had time to say "My knee's not ready" when Otis interrupted him, shouting "No! Don't say it!" this led to a discussion between them about how long they could stall before fans stopped being into their little drama. Otis grew tired of waiting and stepped through the ropes. Jake did his best Macaulay Culkin and asked him to "get back in the ring"
Fans chanted "Please don't go" as Idol debated what to do. Finally, when it looked like Jake was going to cry, Idol returned to the ring. (He never really left... just stood on the apron but the symbollic distance between him and his OTT partner was evident thanks to the great GCW special effects team.)
Jake said "My knee popped - I'm not fit to be champ" and handed the belt back to Otis who promptly dropped the priceless object to the mat. Jake said he'd be back and walked from the ring surprisingly well for a guy whose knee had just pooped.
Otis stood alone in the ring, drinking in the music of fans chanting his name. He picked up the Canadian title and put it around his waist and left to much cheering and applause.
6) Hayden Avery vs "Badass" Billy Gunn
The stipulation to this match was the same as the one in his partner's bout... Since Deaner won his match, it was now up to Hayden to win this one so he & Deaner would still get title shots against the Flatliners. Hayden was accompanied to the ring by Deaner (Who had apparently recovered completely from his 65 imaginary knock-outs)
"Badass" Billy Gunn was accompanied to the ring by a couple midgets dressed as the Flatliners. No... wait a minute. Those ARE the Flatliners? Sacred Feces Batman! That Badass Billy Gunn is one big motherhumper! I mean... this guy's freakin' HUGE, towering over all 4 local guys.
Gunn cut an awesome promo about the unlikelihood of Avery beating him to meet the stipulation of the match. In a real cute spot, Gunn referred to the Flatliners as his "little buddies."
Deaner and the Flatliners all returned to the back as fans started up a "Rock-a-BILLY" chant. That was reason enough for Gunn to stall and verbally disect the Oshawa crowd. It didn't take long for him to meet the aquaintance of the Robotwats and the noise level rachetted up a few notches. When resident GCW nutbar, Trevor, started yelling about how boring the 'action' was, Gunn leaned against the ropes and said "Oh, it can get even better than this" Not too many people heard him though because they were all busy telling Trevor to "sit down and shut-up!"
When Avery and Gunn locked up, the size difference was an unavoidable reminder of why so many GOOD indy guys never make THE Fed. Hayden dropped Gunn with a couple quick armdrags causing the former WWE star to roll from the ring exclaiming that he'd already blown a spot and messed up his right side.
Gunn started to walk out and Avery left the ring to attack him. That proved to be a mistake as Gunn rammed his head into a podium then kicked his face almost off at ringside. Back in the ring Hayden tried to rally but Gunn spotted the brace on his leg and nailed it with a low dropkick.
Hayden was powerless to prevent Gunn from stripping the brace from his leg and pounding his knee with it. (Hayden's knee was completely demolished by the Flatliners back in December or something and only month's of rehab and a replacement LEGO knee had saved Hayden's leg.)
Gunn worked on Avery's knee for an extended time, at one point putting on a leglock and admitting that he had no idea what the hold was called. Hayden eventually rolled to the outside to escape the punishment and Gunn paused to respond to another "Rock-a-BILLY" chant by teasing a little dance and whipping out a quick DX crotch chop.
Gunn tossed Hayden back in the ring and unleashed a series of moves in the corner - eye gouge, leg twist in ropes, 3 right hands, choke, kick to leg and RoadDog's phone number... performed in the style of Inuit Throat Singers. That final tactic had Avery reeling so Gunn backed off and crossed the ring preparing to charge but he paused
And paused
And paused
And then ran across the ring for a big diving corner splash. Hayden moved, Gunn slammed into the top buckle and post, did his little goofy-face-dance-on-toes and crashed face first to the canvas.
Avery nailed Gunn with a DVD then scaled the ropes. Suddenly Matt Burns ran out and tried to knock Hayden off but it was he who tumbled from the ropes to crash onto the floor where he lay, unmoving.
Hayden came off the top but Gunn dodged him and Avery's leg buckled under him upon impact. He shoved Gunn away from him and Ref Cassidy got squashed.
Asylum ran into the ring and swung his title belt at Avery but Hayden ducked and Gunn took the blow in the face. ("took the BLOW in the face" Ahahaha! Oh no wait... that was Beefcake. Nevermind.)
Hayden knocked a shocked Asylum from the ring and fell on Gunn for the cover and Burns, miraculously recovered from his skull-shattering injury was unable to make the save before Ref Cassidy regained his senses enough to count the 3.
Suddenly, Cody Deaner (Wearing the jazzy new Avery/Deaner T-shirt) ran to the ring and began screaming "Yes! Yes! Yes!" as Asylum did his "No-No Song. Gunn split while the gettin' was good.
The Flatliners regrouped enough to make snarly faces at ringside while Deaner told fans he and Avery would be getting a title shot on April 10th. Deaner also said that GCW management had given them the chance to pick the stipulation for the April match.
Fans immediately began screaming for a Street Fight so naturally, that ain't what they're gonna get. Hayden got on the mic and said he had a better idea. He wanted the Flatliners in a Steel Cage. The Oshwa fans, being the sheep that they are saw that Hayden didn't have dreadlocks and so they would follow his lead and cheer for a Steel Cage match even thought they REALLY want to see a Street Fight.
The Flatliners left and the house lights came up to signal the end of the show as Hayden shilled the new t-shirt.
Wrap-up A very fun show that ran just over 2 hours. Billy Gunn was definitely worth seeing & the Phil Atlas title win was a cool surprise. Fans were left wondering if Jake's knee injury is legit or not and it remains to be seen if he'll be back in action on April 10th. Always a fun time at GCW!
