Pro's from the Palace (#240) - Some Quick Post RAW thoughts & feelings
» Reported by Mike Siciliano of WrestleView.com

As I sit home tonight fighting this chronic leg condition I deal with, I had the chance to watch Raw, semi - consciously, live as it went down. I'll try and come up with some ideas and thoughts on the show tonight leading up to Wrestlemania 24.

First and foremost, wasn't Floyd Mayweather promoted as being there tonight? He would've been perfect to walk on the ramp right as Big Show left during the main event for a confrontation with the giant. Or is the money not enough for Mayweather to do some grunt work to ensure his $20 million dollar pay day is a success for the company, and not just for him? Damn, this match pisses me off. But, I'll get back to that later.

Best wishes to Candice Michelle in her recovery, and let's hope this time, she comes back 110% healthy. My only hope and fear is that Candice's subsitution in the match at Wrestlemania, Ashley, hasn't come back from her injuries too soon as well. It's more evidence to support my theory that Vince McMahon is driving his talent literally in to the ground with a railroad spike, no questions asked. Any debate to the contrary, in my opinion, is silly, because the evidence is right there in black and white, or in this case, black and blue.

I missed part of Ric Flair's promo where he apparently was given a NWA title belt, or something to that effect. (Like I said, I watched this show semi - consciously. I fell asleep for this segment). I did wake up to Michaels using the Old Yeller line, and Flair knocking Michaels back with a couple of good hard slaps to the face. It percolated an idea I want to bring to your attention and see how it floats.

We all know how badly Triple H wants to go heel. We also know how hard it was to get Shawn Michaels to return to action after he was sidelined, and it took John Cena going down, and a lot of persuasion from the Game to get HBK out of San Antonio. I believe the seedlings are in place to have Michaels and Triple H go one more round as DX soon after Wrestlemania, with one major twist.

DX as full blown heels.

The writing is on the wall in a big way that Michaels is not going to be the sentimental choice in the career threatening match with the Nature Boy. It's also pretty heir apparent that the Nature Boy is liable to fall to HBK, and end his career on the grand stage. Of course, saying this, we all know WWE could throw a major swerve, and have Flair win, and this whole point is null, void, and moot. But, for argument's sake, let's say Flair loses. Michaels comes out the next night, tries to explain that Flair forced him in to this, the crowd goes nuts against him, and he gets pissed.

Rewind back 24 hours, and the triple threat is over, and, Ok, I'll say it now, Triple H is the new WWE Champion. We all know how Triple H handles himself when he's wearing gold. Like a reptillion snake. You put the element of the Game wearing gold, and Michaels holding a lot of the fans fury in the palm of his hands for what he did to Ric Flair, and the pot is percolating for an alliance of an evil degree that isn't easy to attain, but damn fun to manipulate. Think about it. Triple H & Shawn Michaels, whether as DX or not, running roughshod over the rest of the roster for the time being, and holding resistance against them, while shooting his movie, grumble grumble, John Cena, and the rest of the Raw roster.

it has potential, don't you think?

Let's move forward.

If the World tag team championships did not get a severe smack in the face from the WWE tonight, then tell me what else has to be done. Hardcore Holly is put n a match with a Smackdown talent, and of all talents from the blue and white, the Great Khali. It's a squash for Khali, and the world tag champs are left contender-less going in to Wrestlemania, and probable entrants in to the battle royale for a shot at Chavo Guerrero and the ECW title. In other words, yawn.

Holly is in the battleroyale, from what I heard tonight according to JR, and I would bet Cody Rhodes will join him. I also love how Rhodes isn't used for action in the ring tonight, but is involved in a backstage talking with Val Venis and John Cena before the umpteenth confrontation between Cena and Triple H. Don't get me wrong, both of these men can promo their asses off, but ever hear of the phrase, shut up and fight?

I know people are going to disagree with me on this, but I cannot stand Santino Marella. I wasn't crazy about him before when he was brought in, and he has just steadily gone down hill with me ever since. Unfortunately, his program with, of all people, Maria & Jerry Lawler, apparently has legs. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lawler get booked in his, believe it or not, first Wrestlemania, if I'm not mistaken, in a match with Santino. No offense to the King, but that match, if it were to happen, is a bathroom break of epic proportions. I mean, there are heels, and then there are talentless oafs. Marella is an oaf. End of story.

Umaga talking on the mike. Priceless. First time I've ever seen that happen. I swear to you, that was pure gold.

I was grateful for the lack of Vince McMahon in this Raw. It's about the stars for Wrestlemania, and fortunately, WWE apparently figured that out.

Last thought, I enjoyed the twists and turns of the eight man match, and I thought it was absolutely perfect, in the location they were in, that Flair and Orton would be the last two men in the ring, and Orton would tap out to Flair's figure four. If it is Flair's last time in Columbia, South Carolina, it's the perfect way for a legend to leave the squared circle. My wife thinks Flair should go out a winner, and I tend to agree, I would've liked to have seen WWE figure out a way to let Flair win one more world title, and then walk away, vacating the title, and leaving on top, but if this mantra does indeed go to fruition, as its expected to do, Michaels is by far and away, well deserving of the accolades coming to him for being the man who stopped the Nature Boy on his last run.

Any guesses who's the next Hall of Fame inductee? I haven't got a clue.

I think that's it for now, ladies and gentlemen. No book tonight. Just some quick thoughts in a piece for you guys to debate and ponder. I'll see you this weekend for the official Wrestlemania 24 picks column.
