TNA Impact Tapings for April 3:
Just got back from my first ever TNA Impact taping in Universal.
The evening started off with Team Tomko in the ring introducing their newest member to the team, the man who hit Sting with the glass bottle, James Storm! From there Team Cage came out and Cage was in excellent form calling Storm a "semi-retard". AJ received a tremendous reaction from the crowd. Cage ended the promo saying he would outsmart Team Tomko and having a go at Matt Morgan for adding James Storm to the Lethal Lockdown match.
Kurt Angle cut a mean backstage promo calling Samoa Joe a bastard and Eric Young an idiot.
8 Man Tag featuring Rock N Rave, Rellik and Black Reign v LAX and Motor City Machine Guns, ended with Super Eric saving the day. Hugely enjoyable, crowd popped big time for LAX and the Guns aswell as Super Eric.
Great non title tag team match between AJ & Tomko v Cage and Rhino. Cage was super over in this match. Rhino gored Andrew Thomas after he had not seen Rhino get tagged in. Crowd went nuts. Rhino ended up getting DQed.
Main event for tonight Sting v James Storm with Matt Morgan the special ref.
Shark Boy beat Elix Skipper in a match where Shark Boy got a mixed reaction for ripping off the Austin gimmick and using water instead of beer.
Traci Brooks fought Payton Banks and this ended up in every Knockout on the roster bar ODB and Awesome Kong. Sharmell whipped everyone with a strap. Booker wasn't impressed.
Angle came out and cut a promo on Joe and how he would make him quit wrestling. Then Steiner came out and said he was cashing in his TNA title shot in the main event at Sacrifice. Steiner had thought about cashing it in after Lockdown's main event. Steiner said Joe will beat Angle. Angle got cheered when Steiner said he would beat him for the title.
Main event saw Sting beat Storm around the Impact Zone, throwing him into a wall with an Irish flag on it. The match ended with Matt Morgan helping Sting to win and then when Team Tomko wanted to beat up Morgan, Team Cage came out for the save and Morgan ripped off the ref shirt to reveal a Team Cage shirt. Crowd popped for this and he destroyed AJ Styles in the ring. Interestingly Team 3D held up the tag belts while AJ and Tomko recovered from the Team Cage beatdown!
An enjoyable Impact that sent fans home happy. Great to see Sting wrestle live and experience the Impact Zone and great TNA fans.
