As reported earlier, WWE announced the release of Trevor Murdoch (real name Bill Mueller) on Thursday. This was considered a pretty surprising cut, especially with the company just shifting him over to Smackdown during the Supplemental Draft last week.

According to a recent report in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dusty Rhodes had pushed to bring Trevor Murdoch to Smackdown in 2007 as Rhodes and others saw something in him. However, the move never happened and they kept Murdoch on Raw teaming with Lance Cade. Many felt that with WWE trading Murdoch over to Smackdown that he would be booked better with Michael Hayes as Brian Gewirtz never really did anything with him on Raw.
