Backstage rumblings on Jeff Hardy as WWE Champion

There were said to be some rumblings backstage at Smackdown events during Christmas week that it would be a mistake to take the WWE Championship off Jeff Hardy judging on the reactions he has been getting at shows with many feeling that is the direction they will go in the coming month or so reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The idea of the title being put back on Triple H, who is said to be unpopular among a significant percentage of guys, makes it more likely that these private complaints will become more known. There are many who feel Jeff is on fire and has the chance to become as big of a star as John Cena over the next year and that they shouldn't be so quick to pull the belt off him because of what original long-term plans were. It should be noted that the reaction Jeff received in his match with Edge in Greensboro was said to be a career highlight for him having attended wrestling shows at that arena as a child.
