WWE Raw House Show Results - 7/23/06
Location: Buffalo, New York

The Big Mosh & Blade of Monday Night Mayhem sent in the following report:

July 23, 2006 WWE RAW House Show (HSBC Arena -- Buffalo, NY)

*Main Event: "The Rated-R Superstar" Edge (w/Lita) def. John Cena to retain the WWE Championship -- as a result of Edge nailing Cena with the title belt.

*DX ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, in lieu of Triple H -- who is attending to the birth of his upcoming child & "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels) def. The Spirit Squad in a Handicap Match. Johnathan Coachman came down to the ring before the contest, saying that "The Game" was suspended, and that HBK would have had to find another partner. Flair was announced by Michaels as a "degenerate before he was even one," and even came down to the ring with the DX music, shirt, crotch chops, etc.

*"The Legend Killer" Randy Orton def. Snitsky with the RKO. Huge crowd pop for Orton, who continued his personal quest against "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan, complete with Hogan hand-waving to the crowd & giving "sweet talk" to Hogan's daughter, Brooke.

*Trish Stratus & Torrie Wilson def. WWE Women's Champion, Mickie James & Victoria (w/Special Guest Referee & Ring Announcer: Candice Michelle). Basically, the same match you saw recently on RAW.

*Johnny Nitro (w/Melina) def. Shelton Benjamin & Carlito to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in the match of the night. Similar move set by all three superstars from their Vengeance PPV match, and the crowd was into this the whole time.

*Oleg Prudius def. Val Venis in a squash. Prudius came down to the ring (with the Ludvig Borga theme music), declaring his love of American women & American beer -- but almost seemed like the WWE's version of Ivan Drago in the process. The crowd chanted "USA, USA" during Prudius' rant.

*A Matt Striker "Classroom" segment: Striker went on to bash the local Buffalo sports heroes (Sabres), current & former players (including Bills QB, Jim Kelly), & the fact that "Buffalo men don't know how to finish the job, and that Buffalo has no real men." This was interrupted by Big Vis -- who proceeded to finish off Striker with Samoan Drop to Striker and a dry hump. He left the ring to a decent pop.

*The Samoan Bulldozer" Umaga (w/Armando Alejandro Estrada) def. Charlie Haas, via the Samoan Spike, in a surprisingly quick match.

*Harry Smith def. Rob Conway with the running powerslam. Conway actually did Harry a huge favor, by putting him over as the son of the legendary "British Bulldog," Davey Boy Smith. Harry received almost no reaction from The HSBC Arena crowd when he first came out. At the end, that changed somewhat.

*And in the opening contest, The Highlanders (Rory & Robby McAllister) def. Lance Cade (without his mustache he has sporting a few weeks back) & Trevor Murdoch.

Other Notes Of Interest: Eugene was playing the role of guest timekeeper for a few of the beginning matches, and was getting the crowd into some of the matches, when they seemed out of it. The WWE road agents, including "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, were checking out the entire night's card from behind the production table.

Total crowd attendance: 8,000-10,000 (nice crowd size, despite this event being just a few hours before the WWE Great American Bash PPV)

Top Three Pops Of The Night
(1.) John Cena
(2.) The "New" DX (Flair & Michaels)
(3.) "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton
