Location: West Palm Beach, Florida
Joshua J Piedra sent in the following report:
Just got back from the Smackdown House show, and not surprisingly, it wasn't that good. A LOT of changes were made to the card and about 90% of the matches advertised did not take place and were altered/changed.
Opening Match
William Regal vs Vito
-I really hate that dress gimmick... I saw... well.. more than I wanted to see.. and the images are still haunting... Regal carried most of this match once they started wrestling. A lot of comedy in the beginning with Regal not wanting to touch Vito. Regal stopped a flurry of punches and knees with a nice exploder suplex. He followed up with his alternating knee strikes. They then brawl around on the floor until they got back into the ring where it went back and forth with Vito getting the win a roll up.
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Gregory Helms(c) vs Jimmy Yang
-Another decent contest. Yang twisted out of an arm drag and hit a reverse leg lartiat on Helms. Helms reversed a german suplex attempt and some back and forth offense ensued between the two until Gregory used a roll up for the win which seemed to come out of nowhere and was very anti-climatic. Don't tell me we have a roll up pin finish trend going on here...
Diva's Match
Jillian Hall vs Ashley Masaro
Funaki was Special Guest Referee
-Standard blah diva stuff... Ashley won with a roll up as well... Ugh.. I fear there is a trend starting. Jillian remained in the ring for a while afterward as if they were stalling for time.
WWE Tag Team Titles
London/Spanky (c) vs The Pitbulls vs KC James/Idol Stevens
-Finally some great in-ring action! Too much action to call, but it was mainly Kash/Noble and Spanky/London. Sadly, Kash and Noble didn't hit any of their trademarks. Idol and Stevens stole a tag and entered, but got owned and tagged out quickly. Then they just spent the rest of the match picking and choosing cheap spots. London nailed a dropsault on James and landed on Kash! Spanky then hit a Sliced Bread #2 on Gibson and London followed it up with a running shooting star off of Spanky's back and onto Gibson to retain. After the match, Idol and Stevens tried getting some heat. The crowd chanted "You Suck" (which seems to be the only chant WWE fans know judging from this house show.). Pitbulls came in and chased them out of the ring to a chant of "You Suck, Too".
Slyvester Terkay vs Tatanka
-The first (and I believe only match) that was actually advertised. Terkay used standard big man moves, but shocked the crowd with a flying wheel kick. Tatanka got the Tomahawk Chop in, but Terkay kicked out. Tatanka went for it again, but Terkay caught him and used the Muscle Buster to defeat him to which my friend yelled out "Joe's gonna kill you".

WWE United States Championship
Mr. Kennedy(c) vs Finlay
-Kennedy used some generic "I see a bunch of inbreds in the audience" comments to get cheap heat. I couldn't help laugh since it reminded me of Family Guy when they spoofed Randy Savage. This was a very slow and boring match. At one point, Kennedy slammed Finlay's knee into the canvas. The referee threw up the X sign, but it was all a ploy as Finlay nailed a running big boot to Kennedy, but Kennedy countered with a roll up and the win to retain which made the almost five minutes of Finlay selling the injury seem like a complete waste.
The Miz vs Scotty 2 Hotty
-Lots of annoying crap by Miz as he mocked Scotty. Nothing too flashy.. just a lot of brawling with an occasional suplex here or there. Scotty got his worm in, but Miz used the ropes to score the pin shortly thereafter.
Rey Misterio Jr. vs Chavo Guerrero Jr.
-Not their best, but a good match. Both men worked over each other's knees. Misterio reversed an electric chair into a body scissor bulldog. Chavo locked in what looked like a standing single leg lock and then bridged into it. Very nice submission hold that I got a great photo of. End saw Rey use a huracanrana to send Chavo into the ropes. He then hit the 619 and a springboard splash for the pin. Was the best match of the night so far.
World Heavyweight Championship
Booker T vs Bobby Lashley
"All Hail King Booker" is the most annoying thing ever... Booker T got dominated in this match until the Royal Court of Regal and Finlay came in and caused the DQ. Lashley wins by DQ, but Booker T keeps the title. Other than that, Lashley powered Booker T around including a delayed vertical suplex, oklaholma powerslam, rapid scoop slams, elbow drops, etc. Booker T did nail an Axe Kick on the ring apron which was pretty sweet and the match ended up a little better than I thought.
After the court left, Lashley and Kristal (who was the ring announcer) stayed behind and took photos with the fans and signed anything that was presented to them, which was pretty nice of them.
All in all, the show was a real let down. The facilities used were very unclean and disorganized. There were no markers for sections on where to sit.. People were walking out left and right, and the announcement of it being sold out was a crock since half my row had empty seats (second row) and front row, ringside in front of me had 4 seats empty (which two of my friends hopped and took). No Undertaker, No Matt Hardy, No Batista, not even Little Bastard came along for the ride. Chris Benoit was even advertised to making his return and he never showed up, either.Luis Rojas of Miami, FL also sent this in regards to the report we added first (click here) courtesy of PWInsider.com:
I respect your website tremendously...and it is one I religiously visit for current news. I was at the House Show last night, and I must tell you...this JP Nichols has given you a very distorted view of the night. The arena was a complete sell out, the crowd was hot ALL night...and the actual event was much better than I had expected. The Miz/Scotty match was NOT the match of the night lol....and that just proves the level of ignorance of JP Nichols. Everyone I spoke with enjoyed their night. Your note mentioning the house show was bad is not only an opinion, but it is a one sided and biased one, considering it is from your typical anti-WWE fan.....never satisfied, always critical of a business he probably doesn't know anything about....but still....dishes out the money to attend. You gotta love it.
