Lex Luger Returns For Payback!
Highlights from last week's bombshell announcement of Vince Russo becoming the new Director of Authority starts off this week's edition of TNA on Pay-Per-View. Following the footage was a brief history of Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo.
Petey Williams (Team Canada) vs. Juventud Guerrera (Team AAA) vs. Jerry Lynn (Team NWA)
Petey Williams was replacing the injured captain of Team Canada, Teddy Hart. Team Canada showed up on the stage with manager Scott D'Amore. Shortly after, Team AAA shows up on the other side of the stage to watch the action. eam NWA wasn't far behind as they show up in the balcony. Williams gets the pin over Juvi after Jerry Lynn did the damage on Guerrera in this high intensity bout.
In video footage, well-known wrestling magazine editor Bill Apter presents America's Most Wanted with the Tag Team of the Year for 2003 and TNA with Most Innovative Promotion in 2003, which was accepted by Mike Tenay.
Mike Tenay is in the ring and is soon joined by Director of Authority Vince Russo. Russo talks about how he deserved every chair shot he received from Jeff Jarrett back in October. He admits he sold his soul to the devil for ratings when he worked for other promotions. He says that he was the anti-Christ of wrestling, but he has since been forgiven for all he has done. NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett comes out and wants Russo to join his side. Vince comes back telling Jarrett that the curtain is falling on the "Jeff Jarrett show," and it's time to pass the torch. Jarrett then pushes Russo to the mat while berating the D.O.A. He then slaps Russo in the face to which Russo replied, " One man's dream is about to become his Destiny" before walking backstage.
Simon Diamond vs. Johnny Swinger
After finding out last week that Swinger signed the Jarrett loyalty oath, Diamond was looking for revenge. The match started with Simon chasing Johnny through the crowd. As both men battle, Johnny gets knocked outside where he puts a taped fist on his hand to knock out Diamond. Swinger gets the pin and stuffs the object in Diamond's kneepad. Senior referee Rudy Charles comes to the ring to order the match to continue. Johnny removes the tape for Simon's pad and the ref tries to take it. Glen Gilberti, Kid Kash, and David Young run in for the beat down of Simon. Too Tough Tony and Rudy from ICP run out followed by the Blackshirt security to make the save.
Scott Hudson is backstage with Shane Douglas, Michael Shane, and Tracy who are interrupted by Jeff Jarrett. Douglas tells Jarrett he's there whenever, wherever Jeff needs him. Jarrett then has his muscle backup Kevin Northcutt "call in the reinforcements".
Shane Douglas & Michael Shane vs. Konnan & Ron "The Truth" Killings
BG James does color commentary. 3LK are looking to get back at the Franchise for last weeks actions. Michael Shane taps to the Tequila Sunrise as BG and The Truth fight with Douglas outside. Tracy makes the save and allows Shane to superkick Konnan for the win. BG separates Konnan and The Truth as they leave.
Scott Hudson talks to America's Most Wanted backstage where Chris Harris says his match against Chase Stevens is for revenge for what the Naturals did to James Storm weeks ago.
Chase Stevens vs. Chris Harris
Harris hits the Catatonic for the win. Russo issues that now Andy Douglas will face Harris as Russo looks on from the rampway. Douglas hits Stevens on the apron and allows for Harris to schoolboy Andy for the win. Russo then says that Harris must face the Naturals in a handicap match. Storm comes to ringside to support his partner in now his 3rd straight match of the night. Douglas goes for a chair when the ref stops him. Storm hits a superkick through a steel chair on Chase for a Harris pin fall win. AMW march to back following the match.
Scott Hudson is in the back with Vince Russo who is interrupted by Chris Harris. Russo says he is getting Harris ready. He then tells him that he will have everything he wants and shakes his hand following Russo making an NWA World Heavyweight Title bout March 17th between Jarrett and Harris.
The Gathering (Julio Dinero & C. M. Punk) with Father James Mitchell vs. Raven & Sabu
The most Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal athlete on the planet made his return to the Asylum with a grueling match involving steel chairs used by all parties. The finish saw Raven get the pinfall win delivering an Evenflow DDT on Punk for the win. Raven then called Jarrett out for his shot at the title
Scott Hudson is backstage with Jonny Fairplay and Lollipop - Fairplay he's got some payback in mind for what AJ did to him last week.
Abyss vs. A. J. Styles (4 corners table match for ownership of the Tag Team title belts)
The winner of the match must put his opponent through 2 tables for a win. Abyss back body drops A.J. out of the ring through a table set up outside. A. J. evens the score later with a leg scissors on Abyss out and through another table set up outside. The ref gets knocked out and out comes Jonny Fairplay while A. J. in attempting to powerbomb Abyss through a table. Jonny moves the table and gets kicked in the mid-section followed by a Stylesclash. A. J. finally puts Abyss through a table as it took 3 times for the big man to break the table, but the ref is still out. Then, none other than Lex Luger walks out to the ring. He picks up A.J. and throws him through a table outside. Luger points to the ref to show for the win for Abyss. A. J. gets put in the Torture Rack as Abyss taunts with the belts.
