Jerry Lynn & Heavy Metal vs. Petey Williams & Bobby Roode w/Scott D’Amore
This week’s pay per view got off to a fast pace in a match that saw Jerry Lynn from Team NWA join forces with AAA’s Heavy Metal to take on 2 of Canada’s finest, Petey Williams and Bobby Roode. Yes, Scott D’Amore joined his troops to get a ringside view of the encounter. D’Amore was fired up and wanted his team to get some retribution from last week’s World X Cup. Although Heavy Metal and Jerry Lynn don’t share much in common, one thing they do agree on is their hatred for Scott D’Amore.
Roode and Williams worked on Heavy Metal for most of the match, preventing the Mexico native from tagging in Lynn. Heavy Metal soon found his way to his corner and tagged in an enraged Lynn. Jerry began to destroy both Williams and Roode when Scott D’Amore decided it was right moment to interfere. D’Amore went to hit Lynn with the infamous hockey stick, but was blocked by Lynn. Just as Jerry was about to hit his Cradle Pile Driver on D’Amore, Showtime Eric Young ran to the ring and saved his captain and hit Jerry Lynn with the hockey stick, thus leading to the victory for Team Canada. Then all 3 members of Team Canada went to work on a helpless Jerry Lynn until the rest of team NWA came down to run off the brothers from the North.
The camera then shifted to the back where Scott Hudson was standing by with Wildcat Chris Harris. Harris told Hudson that all the pieces were finally in place and that tonight was going to be a big night for America’s Most Wanted. He said he would finally bring home the NWA World Heavyweight Championship while his partner Storm and fellow AMW member Dusty Rhodes take home the tag team gold.
The Alpha Male Monty Brown vs. Mr. Number One Sonny Siaki
Back in the ring, TNA was set for action to take place between 2 superstars that are vying for the NWA World Title, as “The Alpha Male”, Monty Brown took on “The Ace in the Hole”, Sonny Siaki. As Monty Brown has stated before, TNA and the Asylum is his hunting ground and it wasn’t long before the former NFL linebacker took the match to the outside in front of the capacity crowd. After gaining much of the early momentum, Monty Brown would not let up and seemed in full control of the match.
Although Siaki did fight back, he couldn’t turn the tide of the match. Brown quickly got the “Pounce” on the prone Siaki and pinned him for the victory thus improving his impressive winning streak in TNA. While Siaki lay motionless in the middle of the ring, Johnny Swinger and Glenn Gilberti came down and put a beating on him. They even went as far as to dress him in a grass skirt and lays to make fun of Siaki’s Samoan heritage. Pat Kenney came in with a leather strap and tried to save his partner from the 2 members of the NYC, but Trinity soon followed and the numbers game switched back to the New York Connection. Desire saw what was happening and raced to the ring. Once inside, she got the leather strap that Kenney had used and cleaned house.
Cameras then shifted again back to Scott Hudson who was standing by with AJ Styles. AJ told Hudson that he is the favorite in this kind of match. He stated that he knows a lot about ladders stemming from his days in the X Division. Raven then came up to him and told Styles that the strategy for tonight’s match was to eliminate his opponents before the big event. The two TNA superstars then began to attack each other.
Amazing Red vs. Frankie Kazarian for the NWA X Division Championship
After taking 2 out of the 3 matches against Sonjay Dutt in the previous weeks, Amazing Red earned his shot at Frankie Kazarian for the NWA X Division Title. Kazarian has had plenty of time to rest and relax, but had to be on his A-game tonight as Amazing Red was out to regain the X gold. As expected, this match was an aerial classic with Red trying everything he could to get a pin on the self proclaimed, “Coolest Guy in the World.” After attempting every move in his arsenal, Red was unable to keep Kazarian down for the 3 count. Although he came close on several occasions, Red was pinned by Kazarian. Kazarian successfully retained his title, but knew he was in a tough fight. Red is sure to be back in the title picture soon with a performance like that.
In the back, Hudson was standing by with TNA newcomer D-Ray 3000. After beating David Young 2 weeks ago on PPV, D-Ray was going to get a shot at a TNA contract by beating a mystery opponent in this Gut Check Match. D-Ray said that he was the one winning matches and that David Young should be the one to have to prove himself. He then walked away only to be stopped by Hudson who had to point him in the right direction for his match.
D-Ray 3000 vs. Abyss
After successfully beating David Young a couple of weeks ago on TNA PPV, D-Ray 3000 entered the ring hoping to get the victory over his opponent and get a TNA contract. Little did D-Ray know, that wasn’t going to happen, as the 6’8” 350lbs monster, Abyss came to the ring to take on D-Ray. Abyss did not fear the fro and went right to work on his smaller opponent. Goldylocks made her way to ringside about midway through the match with a briefcase in hand. She opened it up to show Abyss and told him to punish D-Ray.
Abyss then got the Black Hole Slam on D-Ray for the victory. As the 2 were celebrating, Erik Watts entered the ring with a bat. Although Russo had told him not to come tonight, the former Director of Authority had his own plans. He attacked Abyss and eventually took the briefcase full of his money from Goldylocks. Security then came in to escort Watts from the building.
Back in the locker room area, Hudson was standing by with “Cowboy” James Storm and the “American Dream”, Dusty Rhodes. Storm told Kash and Dallas that it was time to put up or shut up! Rhodes stated that the title would look good in his truck on the way home tonight.
Cameras then shifted to the parking lot outside of the Asylum where Vince Russo caught up to Erik Watts. Russo asked for the briefcase back and told Watts that he will take care of this. A hesitant Watts handed over the briefcase as Goldylocks came out to grab it away. Russo gave the case to her and told her to leave.
Kid Kash & Dallas vs. Dusty Rhodes & James Storm for the NWA World Tag Team Championship
Going into this match, many fans were anxious to see if Dusty Rhodes can recapture NWA gold for the first time in 20 years. His partner, James Storm was no stranger to the tag titles and it seemed as if the duo had a slight advantage going into this match up. We know the current champions can talk, but can they walk the walk? Kash was out to prove they could as he and Dusty Rhodes started off the encounter.
The fans were ready for this match as it seemed they were clearly behind Dusty and Storm. The duo almost won the match with the use of The American Dream’s boot again. Unfortunately, the 2 came up short as Dallas used a lead pipe to hit Storm over the head. Realizing what had happened, Kash quickly rolled up the injured storm to get a 3 count and hold on to their belts.
Hudson was then standing by with former NWA Champion, Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett told Hudson that he wanted to go into TNA Impact as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Before he could finish though, 2 time champion, AJ Styles attacked Jarrett and the 2 traded blows in the back area.
Hudson also caught up with Ron “The Truth” Killings and 3LK. A 2 time NWA Heavyweight Champion himself, the Truth told Hudson that Russo was still trying to hold the 3LK down and that he shouldn’t have to defend his title against 4 other men. Konnan added that 3LK will do whatever it takes to make sure the Truth gets the win. BG James got the last word and told Russo that he has been fired before and it was time for the Truth to do the damn thing!
King of the Mountain Ladder Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Title
Chris Harris vs. Raven vs. Styles vs. Truth vs. Jarrett
The rules for this type of match were just opposite of a true ladder match. Instead of pulling the title down with the use of a ladder, each superstar was supposed to hand the title up. In order to do so, each competitor must have a pin on an opponent to be eligible for the belt. The athlete who was pinned was then taken to a penalty box (cage) for two minutes. This quite possibly could be one of the best main events in the history of TNA. All 5 talented wrestlers put it all on the line to get a shot at the gold. You had three 2-time NWA Champions in the ring with 2 other worthy competitors.
AJ Styles got the 1st pin on Jeff Jarrett followed by Chris Harris pinning Raven. While Jarrett and Raven were in the penalty box, they seemed to be plotting something for when they come out. Once both of them were free, Jarrett and Raven worked together to eliminate the other 3 competitors. The 3rd pin came when Truth pinned Chris Harris and the 4th with Raven pinning Harris again. As most of us expected, the unholy union of Raven and Jarrett diminished and the two of them began beating on each other again. The 5th pin came when Jeff Jarrett pinned the Truth, thus making all 5 wrestlers eligible to grab the belt. AJ Styles then got his Style Clash on Jarrett, sending him back to the cage. Once he served his 2 minutes, Jarrett saw an opportunity to get the belt, but Russo would not give it to him.
In the end, not even Russo could keep Jeff Jarrett down. Jeff went to his old friend, the guitar, and nailed the Truth over the head with it as he was close to putting the title on the rope hanging from the ceiling. A disgusted Russo couldn’t watch as Jarrett grabbed the belt and hung it above the ring to become 3 time NWA World Heavyweight Champion!
Jarrett had fulfilled his promise and will be heading into TNA Impact as the Champ! What will Russo do? Tune in to FOX Sports Net this Friday afternoon to find out!
