America's Most Wanted vs. Nosawa and Miyamoto (NWA Tag Team Championship)
What a way to start off this week’s much anticipated 2nd anniversary show than with a tag team that is synonymous with TNA wrestling, America’s Most Wanted. That’s right, the first match of the big show was a for the tag team gold. “Wildcat” Chris Harris and “Cowboy” James Storm were ready to do battle with a team they knew little about. Japan’s Nosawa and Miyamoto were AMW’s opponents and posed a threat to their titles.

Unfamiliar with the team from the land of the rising sun, AMW seemed to have prepared well for the match. For most of the bout, it was a back and forth affair with neither team able to get an edge. The 4 time tag team champions brought back their finisher, the death sentence, to put away the Japanese duo for the victory. While Harris and Storm were walking up the ramp celebrating their victory, they were attacked from behind with steel chairs at the hands of the Naturals. Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens have been making a statement for the past couple of weeks by interfering in the tag champs business, but they took it even further tonight by putting lipstick all over the face of AMW. This one is far from over!

To make this 2nd Anniversary show even more special, TNA was honored by the presence of former NWA legends such as Irish Micky Doyle, Sara Lee, Corsica Joe, Larry Zbysko, and Harley Race. There was a seat for Dusty Rhodes, but no sign of the American Dream after Jarrett’s brutal attack on him at last week’s Impact.

Scott Hudson was in the back standing by with a very upset Kid Kash and Dallas. Earlier in the night, we found out that Kid Kash had sustained an injury to his foot and would not be able to compete for the X Division Title against AJ Styles later in the evening. Kash said that this is not going to keep him away from AJ Styles. He went on to tell Styles to shine his belt up because his time is running thin and that he was coming for his belt.

Trinity vs. Desire in a Ladies Stretcher Match
It was now time for the first ever ladies stretcher match in TNA. It was time for Trinity and Desire to settle the score. Desire was out for revenge for Trinity breaking her back and sidelining her fro close to a year. Since Desire’s triumphant return to the ring, Trinity has done nothing but try to break her back once again. These beauties got downright brutal in this match up. Not even the TNA ring could contain these two as they soon made their way to the Asylum floor, right in front of the fans.

Trinity again worked on the lower back of Desire and placed her on a table. Trinity then went to the top of the balcony and leaped off, attempting to leg drop her opponent through the table. Fortunately for Desire, she moved at the last moment. She then put Trinity on the stretcher and began to wheel her outside towards the ambulance. All of a sudden the ambulance door opened with such force that it knocked Desire right to the ground. On the other side of the door was Vito! It seemed as if Vito came to the aid of his fellow New Yorker, Trinity, thus giving her the chance to wheel Desire into the ambulance for the win.

Cameras then shifted to the back where Hudson was standing by with Director of Authority, Vince Russo. Russo stated that if the guitar was used tonight in the World Title match, there would be a DQ on the spot and the title would change hands. He also told Hudson that he couldn’t comment on who Style’s opponent would be later that night.

Jerry Lynn vs. Scott D’Amore
Finally, Jerry Lynn got his shot tonight against the man responsible for making his life a living hell for the past few months, Scott D’Amore. No longer could the leader of Team Canada hide behind his cronies. It was time for him to face the music and go one on one with the Captain of Team NWA. Lynn wasted no time and raced to the ring. To no one’s surprise, D’Amore quickly bailed. It took a while for him to get back in the ring, but Lynn soon went to work on his nemesis.

It was all Jerry Lynn early on. D’Amore couldn’t get any kind of offensive; however, Scott is no stranger to the ring. His career in the ring lasted close to 10 years before he decided to start developing other young talent. Scott D’Amore found a way to reverse the momentum of the match and started to impress everyone in the Asylum with his clean crisp moves on Lynn. It looked as if the Canadian loud mouth was going to pull it off with an amazing moonsault off the top rope, but Jerry kicked out.

It was time for D’Amore to go back to what he knows best, cheat! He went for the hockey stick, but was the referee attempted to take the weapon away. D’Amore knocked the official out. D’Amore then broke the stick over the former X Division Champion’s back. This wasn’t enough to put Lynn away though. Jerry got his bearings back and picked up the big guy for the Cradle Piledriver and the 123. Members of Team Canada and Team NWA then hit the ring with the advantage going to the red and white due to the numbers game. That is until Christopher Daniels made his return to TNA and cleared the ring to save his teammates Primetime, Sabin, and Lynn.

Hudson was then shown in the back again standing by with Gilberti and Swinger who were still dressed as a Leprechaun and a Samoan girl. An irate Gilberti was telling Hudson that it’s embarrassing to wear those outfits and that there is no room in wrestling for this. Hudson told them that this is what they agreed to do and that if they didn’t wear them, they would be fired. David Young then stormed in. He told Gilberti that they both have a problem. David Young told Gilberti to get a rematch for double or nothing. Glen loved the idea and told Young that he would help him with his problem and tell him how to get a win.

The Debut of the High Flying Lucha Minis
All I can say about this match is that it was truly entertaining. It reminded me of a mini X division. Both wrestlers gave it their all and pulled off some incredible moves. Towards the end of the match, David Young appeared in the ring. He was trying to get his first win at the hands of one of the midgets. Unfortunately for Young, his plan backfired as he was pinned by both of the Lucha Minis, D-Ray 3000, and the referee.

Back in the locker room area, Hudson was standing by with a determined D-Lo Brown who was going to watch tonight’s title match between Truth and Jarrett with great interest. He explained how he was going to be the next NWA World Heavyweight Champion, but before he could finish, he was viscously attacked by the “Alpha Male” Monty Brown. Brown then grabbed the microphone and exclaimed that he would be the next NWA Champion.

AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy (X Division Title)
AJ Styles entered the ring tonight without knowing who his opponent would be. He put out an open challenge for anyone to wrestle him for the X Division Championship. Well, he got what he wanted, and so did the fans. Too much of everyone’s surprise and delight, Jeff Hardy walked through the curtains. Could this really be true? Styles vs. Jeff Hardy? It was a dream match come true for many fans.

The crowd was going nuts with half of them behind the newcomer Jeff Hardy and the rest supporting the current 3 time X Division Champion. The match went back and forth with both men countering each other’s moves. What could have been a tremendous match was cut short though, as Kid Kash and Dallas interfered and caused a disqualification. Jeff Hardy managed to get back to his feet and hit Kash with a steel chair while his opponent Styles did the same to Dallas. The two of them then stared one another down while shouting at each other in the middle of the ring. This one is far from over. Can’t wait!!

Cameras then shifted to the remote location where Raven was to pay a tribute to the Sheik. Shane Douglas was there with Sabu and promised him that he had nothing to do with this. Mickey Doyle then confronted Sabu and told him that he has to do the right thing. Doyle used to wrestle with his uncle and told Sabu that Raven was being disrespectful.

Ron “The Truth” Killings vs. Jeff Jarrett (NWA World Heavyweight Championship)
It was now time for the big one! The King of the Mountain himself put his NWA World Heavyweight Title on the line against the eager Ron “The Truth” Killings. Before this match got underway, Russo came to the ring with a referee and searched around and under the ring for a guitar. To no surprise they found a guitar under the ring. Larry Zbysko then grabbed the mic and told Russo that it was far too easy to just find a guitar so quick and insisted that Russo look again. Sure enough, the NWA legend was right, and Russo pulled out another guitar.

Jarrett was irate that the DOA found and destroyed his weapons. There was no winning this match with his trusty musical instrument. They may have taken the champ’s guitar, but he found other weapons to use as Jarrett punished the Truth with a steel chair to the back. Jeff began to take out his frustrations on Killings and took him to the top of the ramp where he gave him the stroke right through a wooden table laying below.

Somehow, Killings made it back to the ring to continue the match. The rest of the 3 Live Kru, BG James and Konnan, came to ringside, but were soon sent to the back by TNA officials. Jeff Jarrett seemed to be in total control and went to the outside where he pulled up the steel steps at ringside to reveal another guitar. Jarrett had got one past Russo and the rest of TNA, but Killings blocked the guitar shot to the head. The referee was knocked out during this encounter, but Killings managed to grab the weapon away and give Jeff Jarrett a taste of his own medicine by crushing the instrument over his skull. He then covered Jarrett for the 1…2…3 and became a 3 time NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Or did he? While the rest of the 3 Live Kru came back to the ring to celebrate, Russo came in and had a discussion with TNA officials about the ending of the match.

Jarrett was pleading to Russo to make the right decision and award him the match, but out came The American Dream Dusty Rhodes who told Vince Russo not make a decision with his head, but instead his heart. The show went off the air with a puzzled look on Russo’s face. What decision will the Director of Authority make? Tune in this Friday on Fox Sports Net for Impact and find out!
