This week’s show started outside of the ring in the locker room area where Big Vito was giving a mouthful to both Glenn Gilberti and Johnny Swinger with Trinity watching on. The Staten Island native was upset with the way things were going for the NYC in TNA. He said things are going to change. Gilberti tried to blame things all on David Young, but Vito would have none of it. Young came and claimed he had nothing to do with it.

AJ Styles vs. Michael Shane w/Traci
Attention quickly turned back to the six sided ring where the X Division Champion was to take on Michael Shane for the first of his two matches in the night. Last week AJ Styles accepted the challenge to fight both Kazarian and Michael Shane in the same night. They win, they get a title shot, but if Styles won, they would be out of his X Division.

The match got under way in quick X style action, with each competitor quick on his feet. AJ Styles went back to his arsenal of high flying, risk taking moves which tonight may have cost him dearly. Before the match could end, Styles did a flip out of the ring onto Michael Shane and apparently injured his knee. TNA officials and medical staff quickly rushed to ringside to aid the fallen champ. Vince Russo and Jerry Lynn came out as well to show their concern for AJ. In the end, Styles had to be helped to the back with a confused Michael Shane looking on.

Cameras quickly shifted to the back where the NYC, mainly Vito, caught up with Pat Kenney and began to give him the beating of his life. Kenney lay motionless after the New York Connection was through with him.

Back in the ring, David Young was in the face of the referee, and out came Gilberti and Swinger to join in. The referee had nothing left to do, but to flea the ring and crawl underneath it. As Young, Gilberti, and Swinger went after him, the ref. came out the other side with a broom and started whaling on the 3 of them until the numbers game caught up with them. Realizing the poor referee was outnumbered; Sharkboy and D-Ray 3000 hit the ring to run off the ridiculously dressed NYC and David Young

Sabu and Sonjay Dutt vs. Abyss and “Baby Bear” Shelley
The newfound tag team of Sonjay Dutt and Sabu once again teamed up to take on Goldylock’s pairing of the monster, Abyss and her newest acquisition, “Baby Bear” Shelley. The “Original Play from the Himalaya” and the “Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Sabu were working quite well together and almost looked destined to get the victory until all of a sudden the lights went out in the Asylum.

TNA fans then heard a familiar voice come over the speaker system. It was Raven! At this time, a light was shone down on a figurine dressed as a sheik. Raven went on to say that the Sheik is dead! Once the lights came back on, fans were shocked to see Abyss holding Sabu over his shoulders. Abyss then dropped the hardcore legend with the torture rack and went even further by putting him through a table that was set up on the outside.

Scott Hudson was then standing by with “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes said that he had some good news. He told TNA fans that Jeff Hardy will be at the Asylum next Wednesday night. However, Dusty wouldn’t tell Scott what was in Jeff Hardy’s contract, which has yet to be signed.

Amazing Red, Chris Sabin, and XXX vs. Team Canada w/Scott D’Amore
What a match this turned out to be! Something has to be said about each of these athletes competing in this match. It was a match which proved to have NO LIMITS! On one side you had 3 former X Division Champions in Christopher Daniels, Red, and Chris Sabin and on the other, the very experienced and successful Team Canada. Their captain, Petey Williams, was looking to continue his own winning streak after pulling off the huge victory on Impact this last week against X Division Champion AJ Styles and Chris Sabin.

Bodies were laying everywhere in this exciting match up. There was plenty of death defying leaps and jumps which sent everyone in the Asylum cringing. It seemed to be a pretty evenly matched affair until, as always, Scott D’Amore became involved knocking Red off the top ropes so that Bobby Roode could administer the Canadian Bomb. Just as Roode was covering Red, Primetime Elix Skipper was pinning Johnny Devine. Unfortunately for Team Canada, referee James Posey was paying attention to Primetime and counted the 123, thus giving the victory to XXX, Sabin, and Red. Needless to say, Scott D’Amore and Bobby Roode were furious with the outcome.

Cameras then shifted to the back again where Scott Hudson was standing by with the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett told Hudson that he and Shamrock can coexist later in the evening. He told Hudson that the guitar on a pole is his type of match. He also went on to say that he is upset with Dusty Rhodes for rolling out the red carpet for Jeff Hardy and that he had a message for him and Hardy and that was that he was the King of the Mountain in TNA until someone knocks him off. At this moment, “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown confronted the champ. He asked Jarrett if he thinks he is tough and that he doesn’t need to worry about Hogan, Sting, or Hardy, but instead the Alpha Male. He concluded by telling Jarrett he had something he wants.

Jeff Jarrett, Ken Shamrock, and The Elite Guard vs. 3 Live Kru, Dusty Rhodes, and Larry Zbysko in a 10 man Guitar on a Pole Match
“The Truth” Ron Killings was thinking of nothing but payback going into this match for what Ken Shamrock did last week by costing him his chance at the NWA World Championship by crushing a guitar over his head. 2 NWA legends, Dusty Rhodes and Larry Zbysko, were also looking for revenge against Jeff Jarrett for his actions with the guitar as of late which ultimately led to this match up.

Dusty went right after Jarrett at the beginning of the match but was cut off by the Elite Guard. Meanwhile, an angry Killings and Ken Shamrock battled all over the Asylum. At the conclusion of the match, Ken Shamrock got his devastating ankle lock submission on the American Dream while Jeff Jarrett climbed the pole and grabbed the guitar. Just as he was about to nail Dusty with the guitar, Rhodes grabbed it away from him and got a good clean shot on Onyx from the Elite Guard. He then dropped the elbow on him and got the pin for the victory. Jarrett walked back in disbelief and was met at the top of the ramp by Monty Brown and soon joined by Ken Shamrock. All 3 had choice words for each other.

Scott Hudson was then standing by with Michael Shane, Kazarian, and Traci. Michael Shane asked if Style’s injury was legit and that he wouldn’t put it past him to fake an injury. He then went on to ask Russo, who was going to get the title shot first.

Kazarian vs. AJ Styles
Kazarian hit the ring in arrogant fashion, thinking that he would win by forfeit, but out came one of the innovators of the X Division, Jerry Lynn to take Style’s place. Kazarian then grabbed a microphone and said that he wouldn’t fight Lynn because the deal was for AJ Styles and then he awarded himself the victory by default. Then AJ’s music hit, and out came the champ with his knee pretty bandaged up and hobbling to the ring. He talked Lynn into letting him compete in the match he agreed to.

They don’t call him “Phenomenal” for nothing. The fighting champion AJ is, he wouldn’t allow him to just sit and watch Jerry take on Kazarian. Styles didn’t seem any worse for ware when he started the match. With the crowd completely behind him, Styles seemed to be ok. After while, Michael Shane made his way down to the ring with Traci alongside him. Traci provided the distraction while Shane gave a superkick to Styles. Kazarian tried to take advantage and rolled the champ up, but couldn’t get the 3 count.

AJ Styles had plenty of opportunities to put Kazarian away for the 3 count, but the referee was too distracted to see. He did however; hit Traci with the Styles Clash. In the end, the numbers game worked for Kazarian as Michael Shane took out the injured knee of Styles. Kazarian then rolled the champ up for the victory and a shot at the X Division Title.

Hudson was standing by with Americas Most Wanted. Harris told Hudson that it’s hard enough to become champions, but it’s harder to stay the champs. Storm went on to say that next week, AMW will become 5 time NWA World Heavyweight Champions. Just as he finished XXX came in and Daniels told AMW that when they win the titles, they wanted the first shot at AMW to see who the best tag team in TNA history truly is.

America’s Most Wanted vs. The NWA World Tag Team Champions, The Naturals in a Double Ladder Match
“Wildcat” Chris Harris and “Cowboy” James Storm wasted no time in this match as they sprinted to the ring ready to get their hands on Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens. For the past month, The Naturals have proved their worthiness of being on the TNA roster by going after AMW week after week. They even pulled off one of the biggest upsets in TNA history by beating AMW for the tag team titles. Ladders were used as a weapon in this match early and often. There was no love loss between the two of these teams.

Along with the ladders, tables and chairs were brought in to help do damage to each other. Both XXX and The Elite Guard were looking on to see what the outcome of the match would be. In what turned out to be an amazing display of athleticism and pure guts, America’s Most Wanted was able to overcome all obstacles and get the victory with James Storm pulling down their ring attire from the ceiling, thus giving them a shot at the belts next week in a match of their choosing. Harris was quick to point out on the microphone at the conclusion of the match that next week, they will win back the NWA World Tag Team Titles in a 6 Sided Steel Cage!
