The show opens up with the recap of the Smackdown Royal Rumble from last week, with the celebration thereafter by the winner, Latino Heat, Eddie Guerrero.

Paul Heyman is in the ring, welcoming us to the 'crown jewel of WWE', his Smackdown. He calls his show the land of opportunity, referring to last week's Royal Rumble, and this week, when he will name the number one contender for the WWE title for Wrestlemania 20. Heyman then takes a rip at Raw GM Eric Bischoff for flapping his gums too much, and begins our first contest, finally, the return match for the world tag team titles for the challengers, who hit the ring now.

Match #1 - for the WWE Tag Team Championship
The Basham Brothers(c) vs. Rikishi & Scotty Too Hotty

Highlights are shown at the beginning of last month's ambush by the Bashams prior to this match's first attempt to take place. The challengers take a page out of the champions book, and attack from behind before the bell starts. Their momentum is short lived, as the Bashams regain quick control over Scotty, and beat him pretty good for about a 3 to 4 minute interval. Scotty, though, counters a suplex, and manages to tag in the big Kish, and the match quickly swerves in favor of the challengers. A double splash in the corner, sabot kick over the top rope, and the worm is set up beautifully for Scotty by his partner. Shaniqua however, has other ideas. Rikishi pulls the amazon in the ring, and just barely misses banzai dropping her in to the stone age. Doug Basham then hits a scintillating leg drop off the top rope that I thought would end the match, but Rikishi kicked out at 2. Doug goes nuts and yells at the ref, Danny gets hot shotted by Scotty off the ropes, Rikishi hits a samoan drop on Danny Basham, 1...2....3. FINALLY, we have NEW WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!

WINNERS: and NEW WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Rikishi & Scotty Too Hotty

A recap is shown of the previous match, and the tag team title change. The declaration of the #1 contender for the WWE title for Wrestlemania is still to come. A recap again, focusing on Eddie Guerrero's road to victory from last week's royal rumble is featured. Following that, the promo for the next match, a US Title Match, (WOW!), between the Big Show, and Billy Gunn, and it's next.

Match #2 - for the WWE US Championship
The Big Show(c) vs. Billy Gunn

Highlights are shown of the 6 superstars needed to throw the giant over the top rope from last week's rumble. Show dominates this match. Billy's only highlight is hitting Show with the fame-asser, but it doesn't get the job done. Show eventually chokeslams Billy back to when he was partners with Chuck Palumbo.

WINNER: and Still WWE US Champion: Big Show

In the back, Chavo Guerrero Sr. and Jr. are complaining to Paul Heyman about Rey Mysterio jumping them last week following Eddie's attack. Chavo Jr is also complaining about Mysterio's Smackdown magazine cover shot. To appease the Guerrero clan, Heyman makes a title match for No Way Out between the cruiserweight champion, and Chavo Jr. He then goes and makes a match for tonight with Mysterio against Chavo, Sr.

Michael Cole introduces Latino Heat, who comes out in a red lowrider, He promos the rumble match from last week, and begins to talk about the No Way Out match when the champion comes to the ring. A fight insues between the two combatants, and Lesnar retreats eventually, only to find Eddie holding his belt in the middle of the ring. Eddie begins dancing with it, making Lesnar twice as angry.

Recaps are shown from Raw about the teasers Kane has been receiving from a soon to be returning superstar...

Match #3
Billy Kidman vs. Jamie Noble (w/Nidia)

Noble has the momentum for the majority of this match until Nidia gets Noble's wallet, and begins to throw his money out in to the crowd. Noble looks at her in disbelief, Kidman small packages Noble, and the victory goes to the Allentown, PA native.

WINNER: Billy Kidman

COMMERCIAL

Jamie Noble finds Heyman in the back, and screams revenge. He wants a match with Nidia at No Way Out. Heyman agrees.

The World Premiere of the Rey Mysterio music video is shown for "Crossing Borders", off of the WWE Originals CD.

COMMERICAL

A recap from Monday night, as Stone Cold Steve Austin hands his ticket to No Way Out to Bill Goldberg, advising him to not do anything that Stone Cold wouldn't do. Goldberg is still laughing as this time.

Rue De Bona is in Stamford and confirms the Playboy involvement in WWE. It is, however, Sable & Torrie who do the shoot together. Some footage is shown of the photo shoot, and the magazine is scheduled to be released on February 13th.

Rey Mysterio is out next, looking not happy. Chavo Jr and Sr hit the ring. Highlights are shown from last week's attack on the Chavos following the discovery of Eddie being laid out.

Match #4
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero, Sr.

A quick contest, a sloppy one too. Chavo, Jr. interferes, Rey counters, hits a very sloppy 619 on Chavo, Sr., and gets the pinfall victory. Chavo, Jr. attacks Rey after the bell, and leaves him in a pile in the middle of the ring.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Dawn Marie asks Heyman who is getting the shot at Wrestlemania. Heyman says it will be announced following this match.

Match #5
Hardcore Holly vs. Kurt Angle

The beginning of this contest is a back and forth scientific affair until Holly hits Angle in the side of the temple with a back elbow. Things then get smash mouth between the two comeptitors, back and forth. Angle gets the brunt of it before the commercial by going for Holly in the corner and missing, hitting the steel post with his shoulder very, very hard.

COMMERCIAL

Holly in control during the break, tries a powerbomb, which Angle counters, but hits his mouth on the ropes, lacerating his lower lip slightly. Holly hits his alabama slam after a missed attempt, but Angle was positioned to get his foot on the rope for a 2 count. Holly tries it again, but Angle manages to counter it in to the ankle lock, and Holly is forced to tap out.

WINNER: Kurt Angle

Heyman hits the ring, saying he is glad Kurt is out there,m as he gets ready to declare who will get the title shot at Wrestlemania. Before he can finish, Big Show comes out and declares that he is the man that will get the title shot at Mania. Both individuals get in a heated verbal debate, with Heyman trying to separate them, complimenting them on their respective passion, before the Doctor of Thugonomics hits the stage. Eariler in the night, Heyman had 'benched' Cena for his 'foul mouth,' but Cena was on the stage now, and had some foul words to deliver to everybody and anybody. Heyman had announced a singles match for No Way Out to determine the #1 contender for Wrestlemania between Kurt Angle and the Big Show. Before Cena left the stage area, he got Angle and Show so angry that they both demanded that Cena be put in to the match. Heyman reluctantly gives in, and makes the No Way Out match a triple threat for the #1 contendership for the WWE title at Wrestlemania, Angle vs. Show. vs. Cena. Cena continues to rip in to Heyman as Smackdown goes off the air. Heyman looks so mad you could see the smoke coming out of his eyes.

A VAMPIRE'S CORNER

What can I say? I haven't been able to focus on the programs to the point I could because I HAVEN'T BEEN SLEEPING!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHEESH. But, I do have some comments to make here, so let's get to it.

1. Finally, finally, finally, the Bashams have been defeated. It was a terrific contest, it was refreshing to see, and I hope, and pray that Rikishi and Scotty are given a prime slot in Mania's card to defend their newly won straps. They deserve it, the titles deserve it, and I am glad WWE went in this direction. It took them a long time to figure it out, but it looks like they did the right thing.

2. BIG SHOW DEFENDED THE US TITLE! BIG SHOW DEFENDED THE US TITLE! BIG SHOW DEFENDED THE US TITLE! Sound the general alarm, it's an absolute newsmaking event! But, the true question is, how the hell does Billy Gunn deserve a title shot? Mind boggling. Truly is, mind boggling.

3. I wrote /*where about how Smackdown is being decimated by talent loss, and it seemed very apparent tonight. How many highlight packages were shown tonight? You don't see music videos being broadcast on Raw, do you? You don't see a Smackdown highlight package on Raw, do you? We saw TWO Raw packages on Smackdown tonight, Goldberg coming to No Way Out, and Kane's teasers about the superstar from the other side coming back. Smackdown is in real trouble, ladies and gentlemen. Its talent level is dangerously low, and getting lower fast.

4. Chavo Guerrero, Sr. Please stop fighting. Please stop wrestling. That match with Rey was probably as piss poor a match I have seen in some time.

5. You would've thought Smackdown would've gotten the hint with intergender matches when they did Vince vs. Stephanie. Obviously, they don't get it. Now, it's Nidia vs. Noble. Although I think this contest is slightly more evenly matched than Vince vs. Stephanie, it's still not worth it, and ridiculous to program for a pay per view card.

6. Lastly, and by God, I hope I am not wrong. Brock Lesnar, YOU'RE NEXT!

A quickie couple of hellos go out to my friend Sarah in Cleveland for her very poignant sign that didn't make the air, all I can say about that sign is simple, I'll ask him the next time he comes here for an autograph signing. Also, my buddy Joe in Indonesia (sorry, buddy, it was the crack of dawn when I wrote this thing!), dude, your passion continues to amaze me, keep it up! Keep sending me those letters!

Anybody /* who wants to talk WWE with me, please do not hesistate to email me at SMACKDOWN@WRESTLEVIEW.COM. I also have some other projects in the works I would like to tell my readers about, so if you're interested in reading more of my material, email me, and I'll give you the information.

My apologies go out to the powers that be here for this column's tardiness. A Vampire's life is never dull. Till the next time we meet, ladies and gentlemen, I have but two words to say to all of you.

KIMOSABE, SUMO!
