There are several news items to report on from Thursday’s “iMPACT!” on SpikeTV as TNA Wrestling heads towards the March 11 “Destination X” Pay-Per-View event!
KURT ANGLE VS. SCOTT STEINER SIGNED FOR “DESTINATION X”
On Thursday’s broadcast, a contract signing was held with Kurt Angle and “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner for their upcoming bout on Sunday, March 11 at the “Destination X” Pay-Per-View. Following the signing, both Steiner and Angle went face-to-face, with Steiner delivering a crushing headbutt to the Olympic gold medalist! Much like Angle made Samoa Joe bleed with a headbutt during their first-ever confrontation, the Olympian got the same from Steiner after the bout was made official!
AJ STYLES VS. RHINO IN ELEVATION X AT THE PAY-PER-VIEW
Also on Thursday night, AJ Styles formally introduced the wrestling world to what he calls “his” creation – The Elevation X match. “The Phenomenal One” challenged anyone in the back to fight him and make history in the bout at “Destination X” – a call that was answered by AJ’s nemesis, “The War Machine” Rhino! After chasing Styles from the steel structure, Rhino promised he would annihilate AJ once and for all at the Pay-Per-View!
LAST RITES MATCH ANNOUNCED – STING VS. ABYSS
Another bout that has been added to the March 11 epic event is Sting vs. Abyss in what is being called a “Last Rites Match”. On Thursday’s broadcast, Sting appeared in a cryptic, pre-taped segment where he was lowered from the top of the arena on a sort of “death bed”. Sting offered these comments to Abyss regarding the bout: “At Destination X, when I strap you to this death bed and your lifeless body is raised to the heavens above, you have one decision to make and only one: how do you want to die, Abyss?” Tune into “iMPACT!” next Thursday night on SpikeTV for more information on this bout!
JERRY LYNN EARNS X TITLE SHOT AGAINST CHRIS SABIN
Also on Thursday's "iMPACT!", X Division pioneer Jerry Lynn won a five-way Ladder Match over Austin Starr, Senshi, Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal! As a result, Lynn will get another shot at the X Championship when he faces titleholder Chris Sabin at the March 11 "Destination X" Pay-Per-View!
STEVE SHIRIPPA GIVES TEAM 3D THE ASSIST IN A WIN OVER LAX
Also on Thursday’s broadcast, SpikeTV and Sopranos star Steve Schirippa joined Team 3D as they faced NWA World Tag Team Champions The Latin American Xchange in a “Belting Pot Match”. Both teams had their own street soldiers stationed ringside with leather straps, but in the end it was Brother Ray and Devon hitting their 3D finisher on Hernandez for the win!
