Preview for CHIKARA, DGUSA & EVOLVE shows this weekend

CHIKARA sent this in.

CHIKARA hits the Meadowlands Expo Center this Saturday!

Ready for WrestleCon on Saturday!

During the first weekend of April the entire wrestling world will descend upon the New York/New Jersey area and CHIKARA will take part in the massive, multi-promotional WrestleCon weekend! Saturday, April 6th at the Meadowlands Expo Center we bring to you “The Shoulder of Pallas.” At 4:00 p.m., all your favorite CHIKARA stars (and a few surprises!) will come together to deliver a loaded card of mega-matches as only we can! Season 12 marches on after an explosive weekend in Florida, and in Secaucus, NJ the action will only get hotter! The show is nearly sold out, get your tickets today!

1) Who Will Be the Grand Champion of CHIKARA?
-In a recent blog by our Director of Fun, Wink Vavasseur, he made a proclamation that may change the landscape of CHIKARA for the foreseeable future. At every CHIKARA event the Grand Championship must now be defended! Current Grand Champion Eddie Kingston will make that title defense against another Gen1 CHIKARA original, Hallowicked. Will Kingston hold on to his precious championship, or will Hallowicked be the one to end Kingston’s record-breaking reign? Waiting in the wings for the winner of this match up is an anxious Green Ant, who challenges the winner in May.

2) How Do You Prepare for the Unknown?
-At “The Shoulder of Pallas,” Mike Quackenbush will try and keep his opponents guessing up until the very last second with an unknown tag-team partner. Who will Quack pick to face off against the thorns in his side, Jigsaw and The Shard? Will Quackenbush choose a former tag-team partner of his? Will he debut a new Wrestle Factor trainee? No combination has been able to defeat the self-proclaimed “dream team” of Jigsaw and The Shard…yet.

3) The Inevitable Clash!
-Ophidian has been haunted by Amasis at every turn, dating back to late in Season 11. Now, the clash that was bound to occur will happen at WrestleCon! These two former teammates (as The Osirian Portal) will tangle in Amasis’ return to a CHIKARA ring. Will Ophidian exorcise Amasis and his past, or will Amasis earn a measure of revenge against the man that tried to end his career?

4) Points In Play!
-One of CHIKARA’s most exciting matches has always been the 4-Corner Elimination Tag Team Match, and we’ll bring just that to “The Shoulder of Pallas.” Points will be in play and there is a chance that one team walks away with an automatic title shot at the prestigious Campeonatos de Parejas! The Devastation Corporation (Max Smashmaster & Blaster McMassive) will look to get back on track after their title shot in Florida, while The Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield & “Mr. Touchdown” Mark Angelosetti) will just look to be on the same page. The Spectral Envoy (Ultramantis Black & Blind Rage) return to the ring to work to capturing CHIKARA gold, and The Batiri (Obariyon & Kodama) will look to spoil everyone’s fun and steal points at WrestleCon.

5) A Score to Settle!
-The first two rounds of Archibald Peck vs. Tim Donst have ended in disqualification. At WrestleCon will we have a definite ending to this bitter Season 12 feud? How will followers of Donst Jakob Hammermeier and Veronica play into this contest as both Peck and Donst will attempt to end this bitter feud with their hand raised in victory.

6) An Awesome ANTomico!
-Director of Fun Wink Vavassuer named Soldier Ant the leader of a mysterious team for CHIKARA’s Florida weekend. The identity of Soldier’s teammates came in the form of The Colony: Xtreme Force. Missile Assault Ant, Arctic Rescue Ant and Orbit Adventure Ant all debuted in Florida and had their first taste of CHIKARA victory. Will Soldier Ant be able to lead his team of The Colony: Xtreme Force to victory against his old teammates of The Colony (Fire Ant, Green Ant, and assailANT) when they join with Frightmare?

7) Eight-Man Tag Action!
-Our current Campeonatos de Parejas, 3.0 (Scott “Jagged” Parker & Shane Matthews) know their WrestleCon opponents quite well. In a recent blog, Parker announced that 3.0 would face off against the full strength of F.I.S.T. (Icarus, Chuck Taylor, Johnny Gargano, and Sugar Dunkerton). Needing partners, 3.0 reunited with their ally Gran Akuma, but needed a fourth member to complete the quartet. After a conversation with Rick “The Model” Martel, Parker’s teammate came calling: Marty Jannetty! The former WWF Tag-Team Champion (and, by coincidence, Icarus’ wrestling idol) will team with this trio of partners to take on CHIKARA’s deadliest group, F.I.S.T.

8) One on One!
-During the biggest weekend in all of wrestling, the stars will look to shine for “The Intergalactic Luchadora” Saturyne, as she takes on Kobald of the Batiri. These two met twice last season, once in tag action and once in singles action, with one victory to each competitor. Now, at “The Shoulder of Pallas” both will look to settle the score once and for all!

April 4th: There’s so much going on at the DGUSA and EVOLVE shows at WrestleCon. You know the major stories by now, but here are some under the radar things to watch out for:

-Those close to Open The Freedom Gate Champion Johnny Gargano say the 500 plus day title reign has worn him down. How will he be able to handle the challenge of Shingo?

-Meanwhile, sources in Japan say Shingo is more determined than ever to win the DGUSA Title on Saturday. Shingo feels he built this company, but his absence has made people forget that. Now he has a chip on his shoulder as he looks to take back “his” company by winning the title.

-Pay close attention to the Six Man Freestyle on Saturday’s DGUSA show. Everyone in it has privately said they plan on stealing the show with this one.

-Is this it for Sami Callihan? He seems to be in a do or die situation when it comes to the EVOLVE Title Tournament. If he doesn’t win the EVOLVE Title, what’s left for him?

-The same can be said for Jon Davis and the EVOLVE Title Tournament.

-Brian Kendrick is said to be very upset and insulted by the Chuck Taylor Book It Cam. Meanwhile, The Gentleman’s Club of Taylor, Drew Gulak & Orange Cassidy seem determined to push Kendrick’s buttons.

-How will Christina Von Eerie do in the Ladders Are Legal High-Flyers FRAY! at DGUSA on Sunday? This is the first time DGUSA has really dived into having women compete with men.

-Speaking of the FRAY! on Sunday, keep an eye on AR Fox and Samuray Del Sol in that match. They have a very competitive rivalry coming out of DGUSA REVOLT! in January.

-Can The Super Smash Brothers run the table with three big tag team matches this weekend and firmly establish themselves as the #1 contenders for the Open The United Gate Titles?

-Jon Davis and Samuray Del Sol had an epic 20 plus minute match at FIP Establish Dominance. They will collide again at DGUSA on Saturday.

-Larry Dallas better keep an eye open for Marti Belle all weekend.

-AR Fox could be a double champion after this weekend.

-The Young Bucks have promised lots of superkicks.

-Keep an eye on the veteran Jigsaw in the EVOLVE Title Tournament. He’s as skilled as anyone in the tournament and this is a chance for him to make an impact. The fact he’s the #8 seed shows the depth of the tournament.

-Saturday’s DGUSA card features three first-time-ever singles matches in Ricochet vs. Akira Tozawa (no, they have never had a singles in Japan), Sami Callihan vs. Uhaa Nation and Brian Kendrick vs. Rich Swann. Which one do you think will be the best?

-Shane Strickland, Facade, Tony Nese, Fire Ant and Soldier Ant are all quality talents looking to establish themselves full time in DGUSA/EVOLVE. Who will make the most of their opportunity this weekend?

-Who will be the newest athlete to sign a contract with DGUSA/EVOLVE and who will be dropped from the roster? This could be very newsworthy.

-How will the new wrestlers from Dragon Gate do this weekend in the traditional six man tag team match on Sunday?

These are just a few of the things to look out for this weekend. Things will never be the same when the dust settles from these historic events.
