ROH Newswire for 8/28/13

From ROHWrestling.com:

– September 20th, 2013 will be one of the biggest days in ROH history as we will crown a brand new ROH World Champion! “Death Before Dishonor XI” in Philadelphia will see 4 of the best wrestlers today battle for the top prize in Ring of Honor. It is anybodies guess who will end up in the finals but the favorites seem to be Michael Elgin and Adam Cole. However, former Champion Kevin Steen has defeated some of the best ROH has had to offer and Tommaso Ciampa has been a major threat since his return. – Ring of Honor’s next event is in Chattanooga, TN on September 6th and before they face each other in the semi-finals at “Death Before Dishonor”, opponents will become teammates as Adam Cole & Tommaso Ciampa will unite to face off with Kevin Steen & Michael Elgin in a huge tag team main event! – Ring of Honor then heads to Birmingham, AL on September 7th and it will be the return of the Ringmaster’s Challenge when Roderick Strong faces Adam Cole! It’s the ultimate test of heart, conditioning, and skill with the 1st fall determined by Pinfall, the 2nd fall is Submission only and the 3rd Fall (if necessary) will be a 15 Minute Iron Man Match! Strong and Cole have had quite the controversial couple of matches recently when Cole took the countout win at “Best in the World” to defeat Strong and then there most recent match on ROH TV ended by DQ when Cole hit Strong with a chain. Cole claims the chain shot was in self defense which is very possible but regardless, on September 7th these men will have an opportunity to prove who is better in 2 out of 3 falls. This one could easily be a classic so get your tickets for ROH’s Birmingham debut right HERE.

– Also taking place on September 7th in Birmingham will be the debut of “The Proving Ground: Instant Reward” match! World Tag Team Champions reDRagon (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) face Alabama Attitude (Mike Posey & Corey Hollis),Adrenaline RUSH (ACH & Tadarius Thomas), and Cedric Alexander & Caprice Coleman in a Four Corner Survival where if AA, RUSH, or C&C earn the victory, they will get a ROH Tag Team Title opportunity on the spot! No waiting for the next slot to open up, no delay until the next event, the winner will ride that momentum straight into a title match with reDRagon! If reDRagon win the Four Corner Survival however, the match is over and they can call it a night.

– This week on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV the ROH World Championship Tournament continues with 2 big First Round Matches! “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson faces ACH and Adam Cole battles Mark Briscoe for the chance to advance in the biggest tournament in ROH history.
