– Ring of Honor returns to Ohio an hour down the road from Dayton on Friday night, July 18th, 2014, when we return to the Masonic Center in Cincinnati! – SUPERCARD OF HONOR weekend is fast approaching on April 4th and 5th and the match announcements are coming fast and furious. In the main event, Current ROH World Champion Adam Cole will battle “Real” World Champion Jay Briscoe in a LADDER WAR. The winner of this match will be declared the true ROH World Champion, restoring the lineage of the title and ending the dispute over who is the “real” World Champion truly is. Moreover, Kevin Steen is already set to challenge the winner of Ladder War V at Global Wars for the ROH World Title. But before he gets to Toronto, Steen has an historic opportunity set before him in New Orleans. Kevin Steen will take on “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin and the winner of this match will challenge the IWGP Champion live at the Hammerstein Ballroom for War of the Worlds!
– It is now official that Matt Taven will face Truth Martini’s mystery wrestler at SUPERCARD OF HONOR VIII on April 4th. Taven is more than ready to eliminate Truth and anybody who aligns himself with Martini.
– At SUPERCARD OF HONOR VIII, we will witness the next battle in the war between Jay Lethal and Tommaso Ciampa. But not only will the ROH World Television Championship be on the line, the match will be contested under 2 Out Of 3 Falls rules! On August 11, 2012, Jay Lethal took on Tommaso Ciampa in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls match and it was during this very match that Ciampa suffered the knee injury that took him out for a year and nearly ended his career entirely. In the beginning, Lethal held the ROH TV Title and Ciampa was in hot pursuit but the “Sicilian Psychopath” was never able to defeat Lethal for the belt. Now Ciampa is champion and Lethal is the challenger but Lethal has pinned Ciampa for a 3 count in both Pittsburgh and Philadelphia but on both occasions the referee missed the fall. – Wrestling fans around the world are talking about the Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling joint shows in May of this year. The first will be GLOBAL WARS and will take place on Saturday, May 10th at the Ted Reeve Arena in Toronto, Canada. The second will be WAR OF THE WORLDS on Saturday, May 17th at the SOLD OUT Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. New Japan stars that will be competing at these events are OKADA, TANAHASHI, NAKAMURA, GEDO, JADO, KUSHIDA, WATANABE, YOUNG BUCKS, KARL ANDERSON, FOREVER HOOLIGANS, & JUSHIN “THUNDER” LIGER!!!
– reDRagon’s (Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish) frustration and embarrassment of losing the ROH Tag Team Titles was clearly on display last Saturday in Dayton. There aggressive and belligerent behavior at FLYIN HIGH resulted in disqualifications in not only the one-on-one contest between Steen and Fish but also the impromtu tag team match with reDRagon against Steen and RD Evans (who O’Reilly beat down earlier in the night). reDRagon will now carry this frustration to New Orleans on April 4th when they face Hanson & Rowe as well as The Forever Hooligans in a Triple Threat Tag Team match with the winners of the match going on to NYC for an ROH World Tag Team Championship match against The Young Bucks at WAR OF THE WORLDS!
– Many are saying that Cedric Alexander is quickly on the rise after taking “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin to the limit last Saturday in Dayton. Can Cedric defeat ROH veteran Roderick Strong in New Orleans? If so it might be the boost of confidence that Cedric needs to potentially attain singles gold in the future.
– At SECOND TO NONE in Baltimore on April 19th Kevin Steen will form an unlikly team with Cliff Compton to battle Outlaw Inc. in a CHARM CITY STREET FIGHT! Outlaw Inc.’s attempted to “recruit” Steen recently on ROH TV but it didn’t go exactly as planned. Steen would take on Homicide, sending the clear message that he is not interested in joining the group. Eventually this match devolved into a DQ and Steen was in trouble – until CLIFF COMPTON made the save! In an attempt to impress Steen, Outlaw Inc. jumped Compton in the parking lot and tried to take him out. Can Steen and Compton continue to coexist fighting a common enemy? – Last Saturday Michael Bennett & Maria Kanellis dressed up as the Briscoe’s and mocked them while saying very disparaging things about Mark, Jay and the whole Briscoe family. It was clearly a sight to see but getting on the Briscoe’s bad side is not very wise as Michael Bennett will face Mark Briscoe in a NO DISQUALIFICATION match in New Orleans on April 4th and we all know that Mark is right at home in a No DQ environment.
-“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated “Knockout Artist” Chris Hero with the calf killer submission last Saturday in Dayton in a spectacular match that is a must-see. After Styles left the ring Hero was jumped by The Decade who said that since he returned at FINAL BATTLE 2013 he has not been welcome and he is not wanted in ROH.
– After the main event last Saturday ROH World Champion Adam Cole crushed Jay Briscoe’s shoulder with a chair and the status of his injury is not being disclosed by Jay or his brother Mark. It will be difficult for Jay to reach for the belts if his shoulder is injured going into Ladder War 5.
