PPV Predictions: TNA No Surrender 2012

Predictions from the Faculty
TNA No Surrender 2012 Edition
September 9, 2012
Predictions by: Wrestleview Columnists and Staff
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the Round #15 of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #4). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming TNA Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for No Surrender! The show will be live at The Impact Zone in Orlando, FL.

The card is currently booked to have eight matches. The card was announced as of Saturday, September 8th. If they add any matches after Saturday evening then the matches will not count.

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists, recappers, and radio hosts at Wrestleview provide predictions on who they think will win the matches. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2013 Royal Rumble or WreslteMania XXIX as we are unsure of the decision).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. You can participate by contacting me in any means under the “Dismissal” portion of this piece. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week” (if they outright defeat the reigning Students of the Week). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings!

I have decided to prevent some tiebreakers, I will issue points to Title Matches that are predicted correctly. There will be three championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be THREE points. Also, if I throw out a pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, to the Wrestleview “students”, there is more!

I got approval for this decision, and for the SECOND time in our four seasons the students will compete for PRIZES!!! That is right; we felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be WWE’s Royal Rumble 2013 or WrestleMania XXIX). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a competition.

*Prizes go out to the top three (the most picked correctly and if needed tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Predictions for TNA No Surrender

(Note: N/A means that a person’s picks are “not available” at the moment).

Non-Title Matches

Singles Match

Austin Aries vs. Any Member of the Aces and Eights Faction

Nick G. – ARIES.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Anthony V. – ARIES. You can’t have your World Champion lose. I say As and 8s force a recruit to challenge him and lose quickly. After the bell, Aries gets attacked by the group.

Josh B. – ARIES.

Matt O. – ACES. I am wondering if this somehow gets the belt back to Roode.

Darragh O. – AUSTIN ARIES.

Greg M. – ACES & 8s

Jason N. – ACES AND EIGHTS MEMBER.

Grash – ACES N EIGHTS.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – AUSTIN ARIES

CONSENSUS: ARIES 6-4. The slight majority predicts that Aries will win the match. However, the big question will be this: Who will represent Aces and Eights?

Singles Match

Rob Van Dam vs. Magnus

Nick G. – MAGNUS.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – RVD.

Anthony V. – MAGNUS. I am not 100%, or even 50% with this pick but for some reason how great of a win would it be for Magnus, who I think is the most underrated talent on the roster?

Josh B. – RVD.

Matt O. – RVD.

Darragh O. – RVD.

Greg M. – RVD.

Jason N. – MAGNUS.

Grash – MAGNUS.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – MAGNUS.

CONSENSUS: TIE 5-5. Months ago, we probably would pick RVD in a landslide. However, it appears that Magnus is carrying some momentum.

Singles Match (Semi-Final in the Bound for Glory Series)

James Storm vs. Bully Ray

Nick G. – STORM.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – BULLY RAY.

Anthony V. – STORM. I am glad Ray re-upped with TNA as he is a great asset to the company. However, now is not the time for him and as I said at the start of the BFG series, Storm wins it all.

Josh B. – STORM.

Matt O. – STORM.

Darragh O. – BULLY RAY.

Greg M. – JAMES STORM.

Jason N. – STORM.

Grash – STORM.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – JAMES STORM.

CONSENSUS: STORM 8-2. Even though the Staff is proud of Bully Ray for getting the new contract, we are predicting that “The Cowboy” hits the Last Call and earns a spot in the finals.

Singles Match (Semi-Final in the Bound for Glory Series)

Samoa Joe vs. Jeff Hardy

Nick G. – HARDY.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – JEFF HARDY.

Anthony V. – JOE. I think Joe gives Storm a better match than Jeff Hardy. This might be the match of the night.

Josh B. – JOE.

Matt O. – HARDY.

Darragh O. – JEFF HARDY.

Greg M. – JEFF HARDY.

Jason N. – JOE.

Grash – JOE.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – JEFF HARDY.

CONSENSUS: HARDY 6-4. We are happy to see Joe in the semi-finals, but by a slight margin we predict that Hardy will find a way to escape and advance to the Bound for Glory Series final.

Singles Match

(Finals in the Bound for Glory Series. Winner faces the TNA World Champion at Bound for Glory)

James Storm/Bully Ray Winner vs. Samoa Joe/Jeff Hardy Winner

Nick G. – STORM.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – JEFF HARDY.

Anthony V. – STORM. This is HIS series. The only question will be this: Who’s the champ? I still won’t be shocked to see Bobby Roode in the picture.

Josh B. – STORM.

Matt O. – STORM.

Darragh O. – HARDY.

Greg M. – JEFF HARDY.

Jason N. – STORM.

Grash – JOE.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – JAMES STORM.

CONSENSUS: The Predicted Winner of the Bound for Glory Series will be JAMES STORM with 6 votes! Jeff Hardy earned 3, Samoa Joe got 1, and zero for Bully Ray. From the get go James Storm took a big lead. And after a brief time where he was in second he went back to the top spot. Storm has the momentum going in to Bound for Glory, and six of ten staff members agreed.

Championship Matches

Singles Match for the TNA Knockouts Championship

Miss Tessmacher (c) vs. Tara

Nick G. – TESS.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – MISS TESSMACHER.

Anthony V. – TESSMACHER. When I recapped Impact for Mr. Boutwell a couple weeks ago, I sensed some heelish tactic in the end where Tess clutched her title in fears of losing it. If it did not happen yet, here is your heel turn. I won’t be surprised if Tara won via DQ or Countout.

Josh B. – TESS.

Matt O. – TESSMACHER.

Darragh O. – MISS TESSMACHER.

Greg M. – MISS TESSMACHER.

Jason N. – TESSMACHER.

Grash – @$$MACHER.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – MISS TESSMACHER.

CONSENSUS: TESSMACHER 10-0. Though Tara may have a bit of an edge after a victory during Open Fight Night, Tessmacher is predicted by every staff member to retain her championship.

Tag Team Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championship

Christopher Daniels and Kazarian (c’s) vs. AJ Styles and Kurt Angle

Nick G. – FALLEN KAZ.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – CHRISTOPHER DANIELS AND KAZARIAN.

Anthony V. – DANIELS & KAZ. Angle is injured and it would be a bit foolish for a title change on this PPV. If we get new tag champs, great. However, it would have more of an impact if it was done at Bound for Glory. Let Angle be limited Sunday, then let him rest for a few weeks.

Josh B. – KAZ & DANIELS.

Matt O. – STYLES AND ANGLE.

Darragh O. – AJ STYLES AND KURT ANGLE.

Greg M. – DANIELS AND KAZARIAN.

Jason N. – DANIELS & KAZARIAN.

Grash – DANIELS AND KAZ.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – STYLES AND ANGLE.

CONSENSUS: DANIELS AND KAZ 7-3. Maybe it was Angle’s recent injuries, but the majority of the staff predict that the Tag Team Championship will stay with (how Mr. Gray stated) “Fallen Kaz”.

Singles Match for the TNA X Division Championship

Zema Ion (c) vs. Sonjay Dutt

Nick G. – ION.

Dave S. – N/A.

Evan O. – ZEMA ION.

Anthony V. – ION. I don’t think Dutt has a true deal in TNA, so why book him as the winner. Ion needs to get the ball rolling with this title, and this match will help him along the way.

Josh B. – ZEMA.

Matt O. – ION.

Darragh O. – ZEMA ION.

Greg M. – ZEMA ION.

Jason N. – ION.

Grash – ION.

Jose M. – N/A.

Mike T. – N/A.

Dan W. – ZEMA ION.

CONSENSUS: ION 10-0. Since Destination X, the division has cooled down a bit. Ion needs to make the best of this, as he may be the de facto best X Division wrestler still healthy in TNA.
