Josh Boutwell reviews TNA Impact Wrestling for 8/22/13

The Final Impact

After my rant about Hogan last week, I will refrain from doing the same again this week.

The opening segment was just more of the same, simply planting the seed of deceit in A&8.

Knux and Sabin was almost a carbon copy of Sabin-Ray with less drama. I understand its basic story telling for a babyface to go after the big man’s though. Sabin snapping afterward was interesting, I’m not sure where they’re going with this but it’s obvious they’re bringing Velvet Sky into the fold from here on out.

Mickie had an entertaining promo and I could look at her all day so no complaints there.

The Battle Royal was fairly entertaining, as far as battle royals go (not a fan of battle royals in general) and the majority of us got the outcome we wanted.

Wes and Bischoff weren’t terrible in the tag team match, that’s probably the most praise I’ve ever given them, but I couldn’t care less about seeing them feud for the tag titles. It’s time to get Bad Influence back in there and feud with Storm/Gunner.

AJ-Aries was good the first time around but if they give this PPV-quality time it could make the internet explode. Roode-Magnus will be interesting to say the least. If I had to guess I would say that we’re going to get AJ and Roode in the finals but they may very well put Magnus in there just to throw us a curveball.

Sting-Ray was absolutely as boring as possible. It was a shorter version of the Slammiversary match and really at this point I have no desire to see Sting in singles matches. He’s a legend and I respect the hell out of him but he’s just so limited now. I think it’s time for Sting to ride into the sunset pretty soon or go do the match that everyone wants to see, with Undertaker (yet would be a terrible match in-ring wise).

There was just nothing overly good tonight. Not that there was anything very bad, it was just a “meh” type of show.

– Promo/Segment of the Night: Mickie
– Match of the Night: Battle Royal (**1/2)
– Overall Grade: C-

Until next week… PEACE!
Josh Boutwell peace
