That’s a Wrap #4

That’s a Wrap #4
Week of February 23rd ? March 1st 2009
By: David Stephens of WrestleView.com

Ousta! Welcome back to the only WrestleView column covering topics both nowhere yet everywhere at once. If you are new to the column you are probably going to hate us for the first couple weeks, but then you are going to hit a point where you say ?oh wait a minute, I think he gets it?. Don?t worry, that’s exactly how it is designed to be. This column is all about gut reactions and traveling thoughts. As the great Andy Kaufman once said: ?I just want real reactions. I want people to laugh from the gut, be sad from the gut, or get angry from the gut?.

The Boogeyman

Well I?m not even sure where to start with this one. I always cover the news from the past week, which I?ll get to, but I have to cover this breaking news because I?m probably one of the few that actually care. Last night I even stuck up for the guy despite the fact that he got squashed by Kane. I said that no matter what “he is still going to be that really creepy, yet fascinating beast that you want to crawl around in the mud with throughout the night”. As the ECW recapper I have gained and a lot of fun out of following and watching the guy. Well here is today’s breaking news:

“WWE has come to terms on the release of ECW Superstar ?The Boogeyman? Marty Wright as of today, March 4. WWE wishes Marty the best in all his future endeavors.”

I actually was told that I ?cursed him? with my positive mention. Now come on that seems a bit unfair. Yes, technically my favorite wrestler, Paul London, was fired; and most of the guys I respect the most are now on the Indy circuit, but surely I can?t be a curse? Honestly if the Columnist I pick for ?must read of the week is fired? then I?m seriously going to have to rethink my position.

One of my readers was quick to point out that the person most upset about Boogey’s release, other than myself, will be Hornswoggle. Because who does the little guy have to keep him company under the ring now?

Ladies and gentleman I just want to make it clear that The Boogeyman is still going to be that really creepy, yet fascinating beast that I?ll want to crawl around in the mud with throughout the night, whether he is with the WWE or not.

Thoughts of Fantasy

So I?ve been starting to do some research on guys that I would bring to ECW if given free reign [which for the sake of the WWE they should never give me]. Paul London once suggested a Velocity PPV, and I would be right on board, so keep that in mind when I?m talking ?fantasy?. Next week I?ll let my brain wander and explain away my reasoning and you might just wish you scrolled down. Oh, it’s going to be fun. I?ll give a hint to spice things up: he is a British talent that has NEVER worked for the WWE.

Paul London Story Time

I got the chance to talk to Paul on the Phone this week during an interview, which means it is another excuse to plug away at my favorite wrestler. I asked him about critics who say he doesn?t have the ability to get over, that say he thinks he knows everything, can only fly and sell etc. This was actually taken directly from an argument between Hunter Golden and me over London’s ability. His response was a fairly detailed one explaining about giving your all no matter what. He said that regardless of the situation he would always do his best to be both different and entertaining.

You can check out the radio interview over at: Michael Porter’s Wrestling Shoot

Must Read WrestleView Column of the Week
I was sick this past week in combination with plugging out a lot of work so I honestly did not get a chance to read all of the WrestleView columns. Instead of being biased and telling you to read Mr. V’s Column, which I always will read I?m going to go a different route. I encourage you to read Mike Tedesco’s Smackdown Recaps each week. He stepped in for me on ECW last week and truly does a phenomenal job on his reports.
