Hey guys, this week is a pretty big one in the world of Lucha Libre. This Sunday will be AAA’s “TripleMania” as well as CMLL’s “Sin Salida” and in honor of that I will be doing a special preview/predictions section at the end of both AAA and CMLL’s news sections for each show. It should be an interesting weekend.

CMLL

Los Hijos del Averno Tension

The last few weeks Hector Garza has teamed with Hijos del Averno members El Terrible & Texano Jr. and has stated that he would like to form a team with them. This week El Terrible mentioned that he & Texano feel estranged from the other members of Hijos del Averno and that a group with Garza could be good. Mephisto later stated that Texano & Terrible were old enough to decide who they want to team with.

Previewing CMLL’s “Sin Salida” 2010

1) Bam Bam & Shockercito vs. Pequeno Damian666 & Pierrothito
The only non CMLL-Los Super Libres/Independents matchup on the card. Obviously it’s here to get the crowd pumped up early with an exciting bout. Feud-wise it was Pierrothito who took the mask of Shockercito back in 2009 and Shockercito in turn took Damian’s hair later that year. Bam Bam also took the hair of Damian way back in 2007 and then back in 2008 Damian answered back by taking Bam Bam’s. Also, Bam Bam took the CMLL Minis Title from Pequeno Damian in 2008 and has since successfully defended it against him. He currently holds that belt and Pierrothito currently holds the Mexican National Lightweight Title.
PREDICTION: Bam Bam & Shockercito

2) Metro, Rush, & Stuka Jr. vs. Histeria II, Maniaco, & Monsther
I do believe this is a first time matchup between either one of the guys in these two teams. It should be a good high flying matchup (with the exception of Monsther). Expect little Chucky to get involved at some point.
PREDICTION: Histeria II, Maniaco, & Monsther

3) Shocker, Hijo del Fantasma, & La Mascara vs. Psicosis II, El Alebrije, & Olimpico
Shocker has a ton of history with all 3 guys from the Los Super Libres team. He met Psicosis & Alebrije when he competed in AAA back in 2005-2006 and obviously has battled Olimpico many times. Fantasma & Mascara have little history with Olimpico and even less with Psicosis & Alebrije (before they came to CMLL). Regardless, this match could end up being one of the better matches on the card.
PREDICITON: Shocker, Fantasma, & Mascara

4) Relevos Increibles: Mistico, Mr. Aguila, & Mascara Dorada vs. Volador Jr., Negro Casas, & Averno
This match is alot more intriguing than anything else because of the rudo/tecnico team up obviously, but I think it would’ve worked better had another Los Super Libres wrestler (Hector Garza maybe?) been placed with Averno & Casas rather than just a random tecnico. Then again, if that was the case it really wouldn’t be a Relevos Incredibles Match would it (2 tecnicos team with one rudo vs. 2 rudos with 1 tecnico). Both teams look awesome, especially Mistico’s team. This should be easily the best match of the night.
PREDICTION: Averno, Casas, & Volador Jr.

5) Hair vs. Hair Match: Maximo vs. Taichi
This is a pretty random hair match but it’s a way for Taichi to get a big Hair Match win (because he will surely be losing one sooner or later). I’m definitely going with the Japanese star here. This is Taichi’s first Luchas de Apuestas but it’s Maximo’s 12th (he’s 9-2).
PREDICTION: Taichi

6) Brazo de Plata, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., & Strong Man vs. Giant Bernard, Mascara Ano 2000, & Universo 2000
This match has disaster written all over it but hopefully they can make it entertaining at least. It’s a little odd having 2 veterans team with a young outsider on each team. Bernard, for those that don’t already know, was Prince Albert in the WWF/E and has since made a name for himself in Japan with New Japan Pro Wrestling under the Giant Bernard moniker. Despite his size he’s an extremely talented wrestler and if this match is bad it’s highly unlikely it will be because of him. Universo 2000 and Mascara Ano 2000, known together as Los Hermanos Dinamita, are legends in CMLL and interestingly enough they’ve never won a Tag Title together (though they did win the CMLL Trios Titles with their regular partner from back in the day, Cien Caras). Both are well over 40 (Universo is 47 and Mascara 52), as is Brazo de Plata (47) and Jalisco (50). I haven’t seen Rayo de Jalisco Jr. wrestle in years, and it’s been about as long for Universo. Mascara I’ve seen a few times over the past years in IWRG and he’s been able to hold his own for the most part but the question is if can Universo and Jalisco do the same. We know Plata cannot and he’s best suited for comedy matches (which this probably won’t be). Bernard should be able to hold it down for his team but Strong Man is not very compitent at this point. Hopefully another match will be added to end of this card to supplement this.
PREDICTION: Brazo de Plata, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., & Strong Man

Vampiro Kidnapped?

Wrestling Observer reported this week that Vampiro was supposedly kidnapped on Monday Night in Michuacan, Mexico (where a big drug war is going on) and was held for 23 hours before being released.

Video of L.A. Park’s Fight With A Fan Surfaces
The video of the fight that L.A. Park got into with a fan that I mentioned last week has finally surfaced and it’s much less of a fight and more of Park just knocking a guy out. The video (which is below) shows a man (looking obviously drunk) stupidly putting his hands on Park and yanking at his mask. Park responds by one-shot knocking the guy out. Another man then attempts to attack Park as he was getting back into the ring but obviously thought better of it when Park saw him coming. Moral of the story, people, don’t put your hands on the wrestlers. It just leads to knockouts. Here is the video:

Perro Aguayo Jr. to AAA
In this weeks Wrestling Observer it was reported that Perro Aguayo Jr. was scheduled to make a return to AAA at TripleMania to lead a possible Perros del Mal invasion angle. This, however, seems to be off now that Perro didn’t appear at the last set of TV Tapings (where he was believed to be making a surprise appearance to set up the TripleMania appearance), but then again they could be saving his big return for TripleMania as a big surprise. Sunday we will know for sure. Let’s be real for a minute though. Perro is going to have to make a decision sooner or later here, regardless of whether he ends up at TripleMania or not. PdM just isn’t working and as time goes on the interest in him himself goes down even further. Olimpico and Mr. Aguila have already jumped ship, Park is doing AAA, Marco Corleone is doing Lucha Libre USA now, and Super Crazy is rumored to be possibly jumping to CMLL or AAA soon. Perro either needs to jump to AAA or go back to CMLL and finish the feud that everyone wants to see with he and Mistico because his name value isn’t going up by having DQ’s and No Contests at INDY shows every week.

AAA 05/31 TV Taping Results
1) Mari Apache, Mascarita Divina, Relampago, & Yuriko def. Decnnis, Mini Histeria, Polvo de Estrellas, & Rain
2) Cuervo, Escoria, & Ozz def. Alan Stone, Chris Stone, & El Elegido
3) Jack Evans, Nicho el Millionario, & Joe Lider fought Alex Koslov, Chessman, & Kenzo Suzuki to a NO CONTEST
4) Dr. Wagner Jr. & La Parka Jr. def. Electroshock & Silver King via DQ
5) L.A. Park, Hernandez, & El Zorro def. Cibernetico, Octagon, & Heavy Metal
* NOTES *
– Supposedly fans were throwing bottles at L.A. Park in the Main Event and he reportedly threw them right back at them. You have to love that guy.

AAA 06/06 Arena Coliseo Monterrey Lineup
1) Mini Rey Sagitario vs. Mini Sky
2) Babe Fox & Rey Imagen vs. Demencia & Lobo Rojo
3) Rio Bravo II, Tigre Cota, & Tito Santana II vs. Angel Dorado Jr., Gato Fantasma, & Sky
4) Adroide, Corazon Adicto, & Rey Sagitario vs. Black Abyss, Histeria III, & Psicosis III
5) Golden Boy, Rey Demonio Jr., & Simbolo vs. Cuervo, Escoria, & Ozz

AAA/Lucha ‘N’ Roll 06/18 Mexico City Lineup
1) Metalium vs. Destroyer
2) Canelo Casas & Sendero Luminoso vs. Cazador & Punker
3) Cinthia Moreno & Fabi Apache vs. Jennifer Blade & Sexy Star
4) Heavy Metal & Ciberentico vs. Kenzo Suzuki & El Zorro
* NOTES *
– This is the first ever Lucha Libre show/Rock & Roll concert which is being promoted by AAA and Heavy Metal (of AAA). The guys in the first two matches are trainees of Heavy Metal’s wrestling school.

AAA 06/20 TV Taping Lineup
1) Mascarita Divina, Mascarita Sagrada, & Octagoncito vs. Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, & Mini Psicosis
2) Chikayo Nagashima, Fabi Apache, & Meiko Satomura vs. Christina Von Eerie, Jennifer Blade, & Sexy Star
3) Alan Stone & Chris Stone vs. Cuervo & Ozz
4) Heavy Metal, Octagon, & Pimpinela Escarlata vs. Electroshock, Silver King, & Ultimo Gladiador
5) Nicho el Millionario, Joe Lider, & Extreme Tiger vs. Alex Koslov, Chessman, & TBA
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Cibernetico, & La Parka Jr. vs. L.A. Park, Hernandez, & El Zorro

Previewing AAA’s “TripleMania XVII”

1) AAA Minis Title Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match: Mini Abismo Negro (c) vs. Mini Charly Manson vs. Octagoncito vs. Mascarita Divina vs. Mini Psicosis vs. Mini Histeria vs. Mascarita Sagrada
The minis previewed this match on the 05/19 card doing some spots with the ladders, chairs, & tables and this should be a fun match if not too over done.
PREDICTION: Mini Abismo Negro retains the title

2) Losers Must Be The Winners Maids: Cinthia Moreno, Mari Apache, & Fabi Apache vs. Sexy Star, Rain, & Jennifer Blake
The stipulation for this match is more funny than anything. I would definitely think it could be good in-ring wise and I see the gringos taking the loss here.
PREDICTION: Moreno, Fabi, & Mari

3) AAA Cruiserweight Title Fatal 4-Way Elimination: Extreme Tiger (c) vs. Jack Evans vs. NOSAWA vs. Christopher Daniels
This match has show stealer written all over it. In the past AAA has hurt these Cruiserweight multi-man matches by having alot of weapons and things brought in. I know that is Extreme Tiger’s element but he is competent to wrestle a typical high flying lucha style and with no Crazy Boy in this match I could definitely see Evans and Daniels keeping the weapons out of it. I just hope that NOSAWA & Tiger follow suit. I’m going out on a limb here and saying that they finally give Evans some gold.
PREDICTION: Jack Evans wins the title

4) Seconds Hair vs. Hair Match: Heavy Metal, Octagon, & Pimpinela Escarlata w/Pierro vs. Alex Koslov, Chessman, & Hernandez w/Hijo del Tirantes
The losing teams second/manager will be forced to have his head shaved. I think this has potential to be a very solid match with every worker in it at least solid. Hopefully Pimpinela can stay focused and not get too wild in the match.
PREDICTION: Metal, Octagon, & Pimpinela

5) AAA Tag Titles Fatal 4-Way: Atsushi Aoki & Go Shiozaki (c) vs. Robert Roode & James Storm vs. Silver King & Ultimo Gladiador vs. Nicho el Millionario & Joe Lider
This is another match that could potentially be very good. I believe this will be Roode & Storm’ (TNA’s Beer Money Inc.) debuts in Mexico. I expect La Hermandad to regain their belts here.
PREDICTION: Nicho & Lider

6) Tag Team Street Fight: Cibernetico & Abyss vs. El Zorro & Vampiro
If El Mesias had been healthy enough to compete on this card I think a tie-in between Abyss and Mesias’ feud a few years ago in TNA would’ve been cool. This will probably be all over the place.
PREDICTION: Ciber & Abyss

7) Name vs. Name: L.A. Park vs. La Parka Jr.
This is the match that is going to sell the PPV and the tickets. It’s the match that has been talked about for years but has been doubted would ever. The original La Parka (now L.A. Park) faces the man that took over his name and character after he left the promotion years ago. Both guys have thrown verbal shots at each other in the past but this will be the first time they have ever faced off in a one-on-one match. Will this be a good wrestling match? Probably not but if they make it more of a blood-feud type of brawl it could be fun. I honestly dont see Park winning his name back (though I do think they could get away with Park winning it and calling the other La Parka Jr. officially again or just call him La Parka II). La Parka Jr. has physically not been very healthy as of late and it’s been rumored he could be retiring sooner rather than later. Despite being the same age Park is in far better condition, health-wise, and has always been far superior in the ring as well. I want Park to win but my brain is saying Parka Jr. here.
PREDICTION: La Parka Jr.

8) AAA Heavyweight Title: Electroshock (c) vs. Dr. Wagner Jr.
It’s been rumored that Wagner’s 1-year contract will officially be up after this show and this could possibly be his final match in AAA. I think his run in AAA has been very good and him staying around would be better than bouncing around the INDY’s like he did after he left CMLL. If Wagner regains the belt then he has probably resigned with the company, if not then anybody’s guess is as good as mine on his status with the company. I still think Shock retains the belt regardless despite many believing that Wagner will regain his belt.
PREDICTION: Electroshock retains his belt

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Lucha Libre Expo Press Conference

This past weekend a big Press Conference was held to hype up July’s big Lucha Libre Expo (which will feature Perros del Mal, CMLL, AAA, Blue Demon Jr./NWA, EAW, IWRG, DTU, and many more). AAA refused to attend the press conference (claiming they would hold one of their own) but in the middle of the press conference Silver King, Ultimo Gladiador, & Kenzo Suzuku stormed in and challenging the IWRG guys to matches for the Expo. Supposedly Blue Demon Jr. was upset about this and screamed at the AAA guys (kayfabe?) and the CMLL wrestlers just ignored them.

Lucha Libre/MTV 2 Update
The previously scheduled “Lucha Libre: Behind The Mask” documentary has been pushed back to June 26th (with several replays) with “Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors” debuting July 12th.
