Loco Max & Rush Sign Hair Match

This week CMLL stars Loco Max & Rush signed the contract for their Hair vs. Hair Match which will take place next Sunday in Arena Mexico. This match has been built up and teased for several weeks. The 38 year old, Loco Max, has competed in 7 Hair vs. Hair Matches and his record is 2-5 with his most recent match coming just last month when he lost his hair to Centella de Oro on 07/10. On the other hand I believe this is Rush’s first Hair vs. Hair bout for the 24 year old youngster.

CMLL/TNA Craziness
A video previewing TNA President, Dixie Carter’s, upcoming shoot interview for the YouShoot series was released where Dixie makes a pretty crazy claim about a CMLL star. She claims that during the last World X-Cup one of the Team CMLL members actually walked up to her and gave her his room key. For those that don’t remember Team CMLL consisted of Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Volador Jr., and Averno. Just by looking at those names the pimpish Rey Bucanero would be who you would imagine but the fact that Bucanero & Guerrero both wrestled for TNA at House Show events AFTER the World X-Cup and Volador Jr. wrestled several times after that event makes you think otherwise. Averno was the only one of the four to wrestle for TNA at the Victory Road PPV and only that one show. The video is below:

Sarita/Dark Angel Suffers Injury
At the last set of TNA TV Tapings CMLL and TNA star knockout/luchadora, Sarita aka Dark Angel, injured her arm. TNAInsider.com reported that she tore her triceps and is back in Canada healing up. Both TNA and CMLL expect her to be out until at least September. Hopefully she heals up and returns to 100% soon.

10) CMLL Universal Title Tournament Block A Finals: La Sombra def. Ultimo Guerrero
11) Mistico def. Psicosis II
* NOTES *
– La Sombra defeats the defending Universal Champion in Block A’s Final in a bit of an upset. The match was said to have been an excellent match. Both men got a standing ovation following the match. Sombra faces the winner of Block B to crown the 2010 Universal Champion.
– In the Main Event Mistico complained to the Lucha Commission about Tirantes being the referee. They then sent Tirantes to the back and a new referee came in. Mistico gets the win after taking the 2nd & 3rd fall. It went a little over 20 minutes total match time. After the match Mistico demanded a Mask Match but Psicosis II said they had to have a Title match first. Only thing is Mistico doesn’t have a title (and neither does Psicosis). They’re playing this like it’s way of Psicosis stalling from having the Mask Match so now Mistico now has to go get a title.

AAA

Hernandez In AAA

Last weeks episode of AAA TV aired a pretty interesting video package. The video package highlights Hernandez’ history as a part of L.A.X. including his history with Konnan in the group. Also, during the package the original L.A.X. entrance theme played (which Konnan owns the rights to). The package featured footage from TNA. On a side note, Hernandez’s former partner Homicide has been out with an injury from TNA for a few weeks. He suffered a groin pull that could require surgery if he further injures it.

Sexy Star/WWE Update
The reason that Sexy Star was in Tampa was revealed this week by SuperLuchas. Sexy Star attended a Try-out Camp held by the WWE and FCW (she actually had to pay $1,000 to get a try out) but if the WWE liked her they could in fact sign her. More on this if Sexy Star gets a contract offer.

Cibernetico Appears in Burger King Commercial
This weekend a new Burger King (Spanish) commercial aired in Mexico featuring AAA’s Cibernetico. The commercial is below:

Rain Clears Up Rumors
The past few weeks rumors have been going around about AAA luchadoras, Sexy Star & Rain. First, SuperLuchas reported that Rain had been released from AAA but she (on her facebook page) said that she had spoken to Konnan and all is well and she is STILL a part of AAA. She also said that she never attended any FCW tryouts despite SuperLuchas reporting she had attended FCW tryouts with Sexy Star. She did confirm that she had picked Sexy Star up from the FCW facilities (pretty much confirming the story about Sexy trying out), though.

5) Nicho el Millionario, Joe Lider, & Extreme Tiger fought Damian666, Halloween, & Alex Koslov to a NO CONTEST
* NOTES *
– After the second match Konnan & Mexico’s Most Wanted hit the ring and attack the Air Force. Dorian Roldna then announced that Billy Boy, Decnnis, and Tigre Cota are forming a new group called La Milicia and have joined La Legion.
– Sexy Star was supposed to team with Eerie but was replaced with Blade. No word on why she wasn’t there but remember that picture she posted of her coming into Tampa? The rumor is she is on her way to FCW (WWE) or possibly even TNA (less likely).
– Electroshock replaced Hernandez in the Semi-Main. No reason given on why he wasn’t there.
– After the Main Event El Mesias ran out wearing a ski mask and then took it off to make his official return. He then challenged Perro Aguayo Jr. to a match at Verano de Escandalo. Maybe this would’ve meant more if some numbnuts in AAA hadn’t released the lineup (which features Mesias in the Main Event opposite Perrito in a Trios) about 2 weeks ago.

INDY & OTHER NEWS

Super Crazy In AJPW

Super Crazy continued his quest in All Japan’s Jr. Heavyweight League Tournament. He kicked the weekend off with a surprising submission win over Minoru on 07/30. For the second year in a row Crazy fought Kaz Hayashi to a Time Limit Draw in an Opening Round bout. Crazy then suffered his first loss in the tournament to Sato on 08/04. Currently Crazy is tied for second place in Block A with Kaz Hayashi (both have 5 points). Minoru holds the #1 spot in Block A. Crazy has no more opening round matches while Hayashi still has one more match (tonight). If Hayashi wins that match Crazy will be eliminated and would effectively be able to appear at TNA’s Hardcore Justice if he chose to (though it is likely AJPW will want him for some type of Non-Tournament matches).

Carlito Signs with LL-USA
Late last week Lucha Libre USA made a pretty big announcement when MTV2 and the promotion releasede a press release announcing the signing of former WWE superstar, Carlito Colon, to the company! He will make his debut with LL-USA at the August 7th TV Tapings. This is definitely the biggest signing by the promotion, as far as United States fans are concerned. Carlito has been primarily working for his father in the Puerto Rican-based WWC promotion since his release from the WWE followed a failed drug test and Carlito’s subsequence refusal to enter rehab.

Legendary Luchador Passes Away
I was sent this bit of news from KHawk of WFS. Here is the entire thing: “It is with sad heart that we mention the passing of the legendary Caribbean luchador Asombroso Chupada, aka Inyer Colon. Asombroso Chupada was a long time fan favorite in Caribbean Championship Wrestling, and had notable feuds with El Portalesman, Pancho Negro, and Dr. Ken Viewer. He was co-holder of the CCW tag team title with Moondog Yohe, and briefly held the CCW Cruiserweight title defeating Rastaman Pulp. Colon was also a veteran of the Mexican Army before beginning a career in professional wrestling. Colon suffered a major heart attack at his home in Kinsale, Montserrat. Colon was 54 at the time of his passing and is succeeded by his wife Anusjes, son Escroto, and his daughter Vulvar. Services will remain private and the family wishes donations be sent to the United Way in lieu of flowers. Colon will be cremated, as per his wishes, and his ashes will be set to sea.”
