The participants are Mistico, La Sombra, Volador Jr., Averno, Mephisto, Ephesto, El Alebrije, Olimpico, Histeria II, and Psicosis II. That means it will have 2 tecnicos (Mistico & Sombra) against 8 rudos (everyone else). They also announced a tournament for next month as well to celebrate Mexico’s Bicentennial.

CMLL Announces Anniversary Show Date
This past weekend CMLL also announced the date for this years Anniversary Show which will mark the 77th birthday of the promotion. This year’s will take place on September 3rd from the legendary Arena Mexico. No matches have been set yet but Mistico vs. Psicosis II in a Mask vs. Mask showdown is the rumored Main Event.

Rey Bucanero Leaves Los Guerreros, Joins New Group
This past week Rey Bucanero left Los Guerreros de la Atlantida, who he has been a member of for the better part of the last decade, to join La Peste Negra alongside Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, and Felino (and Rey’s new mascot Parrot). Rey said that his former teammates showed more interest in teaming in former member Olimpico lately than teaming with him and that’s why he left.

Minis Tournament
This week CMLL is starting a Mini-Tournament (Mini Reyes del Aire) for the Mins Stars. Block A will go down this week and Block B next week. Each Block will be a single Cibernetico (Elimination-style) match. The big catch here is the winner of the Tournament will be moved into the full sized division! The Winner of Block A (Demus 3:16) will face the winner of Block B (Pierrothito) this weekend.

AAA

Disturbing AAA Info

All of this info comes from Wrestling Observer and CubsFan at the LuchaBlog. AAA has been making a lot of recent cutbacks (primarily cutting back on outside stars from America and Japan) which has started rumors about AAA’s future. It was revealed by the Figure Four Daily that AAA was actually robbed of their entire gate at a TV Taping in February. Who were they robbed by? A Mexican Drug Cartel. In Mexico at alot of events promoters actually have to pay Drug Cartels money for protection so things like this won’t happen (like the Mafia) and supposedly AAA either didn’t do it this time or the cartel didn’t care. This really hurt AAA because they pay their talent out of the gate. This is also the reason that AAA has moved shows closer and closer to Mexico City every week (where Drug Cartels and drug violence is much less prevalent) and why they moved the “Verano de Escandalo” event from Monterrey (tons of drug violence) back to Orizaba, Veracruz (much closer to Mexico City) and also are running out of IWRG’s home arena, Arena Naucalpan, in the next month. It doesn’t seem that AAA is in danger of dying right now so those rumors are dumbfounded but with them having financial problems it makes you wonder why they refuse to open up an online store where they could make a fairly good bit off of DVD, t-shirts, toys, masks, etc. rather than only selling them at shows.

– Relampago hits a Springboard Hurricanrana:

– The newest members of La Militia (Psicosis III, Black Abyss, & Los Stones) with the group:

The story is that Misterio challenged Perro Aguayo Jr. to a Tag Team Match with each man picking a partner of their choosing, but instead Perro paid off his hired ‘hit men’ of the Border Patrol’s Derek Sanders & Zack Reeb. PWR’s promoter decided to stick the match inside a steel cage and put the Border Patrol’s gold on the line as well.
