From the Desk of Mr. V #88

Introduction

First off, I should apologize. Not only do I do the teacher-gimmick for WrestleView.com, but most of you know that I am a certified teacher in Pennsylvania (again, hope some superintendents are reading this in PA) and I have been substituting on many occasions this week. Do I feel 100% when I am typing this? Probably not, but I will give you my best efforts. So with that said…

Welcome to the latest edition of “From the Desk of Mr. V”. I am Anthony “Mr. V” Valvo, your WrestleView resident teacher with the same material as last time, but different names, matches, and articles.

So sit back and grab some iced coffee. Relax as you read the 88th Installment of “From the Desk of Mr. V”.

Quote of the Week

“When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky.” – Buddha

Sorry if this quote offends, but I really catch myself doing this in many days. One looks up at the sky, you see the bright skies and clouds. Wind breeze and one lets the sunroof down in the car and just drive around. Just enjoy life. Look up for a moment and just smile. I think everyone is entitled to that.

Teacher’s Lecture

2) The Teacher’s Lounge (w/special interviewer Jose Marrero) interviewed Aloisia!

I am not trying to plug the show that I do every Saturday too much, but this week Jose Marrero and I got to interview Former WWE Diva Aloisia. I felt bad that Dave Stephens was not able to join, but Jose did a fantastic job with the interview and I think you will enjoy the 20 minute interview we worked on with probably the tallest guest we will ever have on our show. I just find it remarkable that in just five short months we interviewed some solid writers (Jose Marrero and Matt O’Brien from WrestleView as well as Crystal Mai from Diva-Dirt.com), Professional Wrestlers (Colt Cabana and Aloisia), and even some odd ball ones (The YouTuber that ranted about CM Punk. I found it awesome and Dave did a great job on that).

All I will say is to the VIP members, I hope you enjoy it. Who knows who will be interviewed next? And as always, thank you for the support through messages and e-mails. They do mean a lot to all of us.

3) Matt Hardy’s WWE days numbered?

The Lecture: Look, I am not going to beat a dead horse on this topic. I already went over this and I did the same last Saturday.

All I will say is this. Why leave the WWE with a big pay day to go to TNA to find “happiness”? as a matter of fact, this is ridiculous. I mean seriously, I teach junior high kids that have more maturity than Matt is doing.

Look, you lose we get it. But you get PAID DOING IT! I mean it is ok to be frustrated, but what is there for you? TNA? Shannon Moore is there. Gregory Helms could join him. And with Evan Karagias nowhere to be seen, Matt Hardy could be that replacement. LET’S MAKE A THREE COUNT REUNION!!!!!

Ok, I am done joking around. I am sure there is a following for Matt Hardy, but he is nowhere close to the hype he puts on himself. Now that I think of it, if he is pulling a curveball on us, then well played Matt Hardy. However, if you are so upset with the WWE then ask for your release, call Dixie Carter, and reform Three Count with your boys. Then get buried a couple months later.

I hate to say this, but wrestling has been pretty light this week. If you would like me to respond to a question of yours and make it a lecture, let me know at mistervwv@hotmail.com. Keep in mind the topic must be current.

Detentions

Tom Brady – Get rid of the Bieber Hair. Go to the barber.

NXT – I honestly really want to take this seriously, but it is a shame that they are treating these young divas like this. I know it is “storyline”, but enough is enough. I can’t wait until this is over.

Hulk Hogan – He is on here until get stops with the “I will post videos of me in the hospital”. At least Brett Favre is not that full of himself.

My WrestleView Fantasy Football Team – 0-2 and I have no give with some difficulty opponents. This could be a really awful season.

Vickie Guerrero – That outfit that she wore make me so happy that I don’t have HD on my TV Set. If so, I may have had to take a couple weeks off.

Unneeded Wrestling Segments – We see them, we hate them, and they deserve to be in detention. Keep the unneeded segments to yourself. I am sure we agree and disagree.

Mr. V – I have been doing this to myself. That and I went a dreadful 2-4 in the Predictions for Night of Champions. I think I need to do some homework.

David Otunga – Please, please, please go back to FCW. He can’t even do a suplex right.

Edge – Seriously, what happened to him? I don’t want to say “because it is PG”, but he is missing a lot of his “edge”.

(From Wade Bradford)

Hey, V. Please put that annoying 5-Minute Energy “2:30 Feeling” commercial in eternal detention. Seriously, did they buy up all the advertising time on every channel until the end of the year. How many times are we supposed to watch the same ad? Against their will, the entire country has memorized it line-for-line. Thanks!

Wade, you got it!

5-Hour Energy Commercials – Too many for too short an amount of time. CURSE YOU FOR TRYING TO POKE FUN AT COFFEE!!!!!! To do what many kids do now.

Coffee >>>>>>>> 5-Hour Energy. No knock on people that watch TNA, but sometimes I actually do have that “2:30” feeling when I watch the opening 15 minutes. I am happy that at times they pick it up though.

(From Wade Bradford)

Hey, V. Also, detention to that stupid Burger King Breakfast March commercial! That ad is annoying enough as it is, but I can already tell that they’re going to run it into the ground too. Detention for ALL!!!

Wade, another superb nominee

Burger King – This is a warning. Don’t be here. Remember the singing cats? They have not been on TV since the Eternal Detention position. Someone needs to shove that flute somewhere……no no no, Mr. V! Be professional!

Mr. V’s Weekly Honor Roll for the week of September 13 – September 19, 2010

9/13 Graded WWE Monday Night Raw Matches
9/14 – Graded WWE NXT Matches
9/15 – Column Writing. After that, I watched ROH on YouTube and recap the show.
9/16 – Graded WWE Superstars and TNA Impact Matches.
9/17 – Graded Smackdown Matches
9/18 – OFF DAY
9/19 – OFF DAY

Distinguished Honors – Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger, Friday Night Smackdown, September 17.

How it ended – After Jack Swagger really had most of the control in this Smackdown contest, Kofi Kingston connected with Trouble in Paradise to get the pinfall victory.

Grade: B (leaned towards a B+)

Why it was distinguished honors-worthy? Now before some get upset with my top match, I must say I like a story. It kind of had a story, as they were two big main event guys months ago and are not on the mid-card for Smackdown. I think it was very entertaining, but at times repetitive. Swagger’s in-ring style was very good and his tactics worked so well when he would keep Kingston grounded. If Swagger can develop a staying-power type character, the sky is the limit. Kingston was pretty good bumping and hit the moves when he needed to. I thought Kingston worked a million times better with Swagger than he did in his feud with Dolph Ziggler. I thought it would be an average match, but I was pleasantly surprised.

High Honors – Austin Aries vs. Delirious, ROH on HDNet, September 13.

How it ended – Rhett Titus interfered for Austin Aries in the match and delivered a top rope knee drop to Delirious injured throat area. Aries then hit a modified cutter to Delirious to secure the pinfall victory in this Lumberjack Match.

Grade: B

Why it was high honors-worthy? I really enjoyed the pace and interaction with the lumberjacks (and there was a good bit of that). Both wrestlers had great in-ring psychology and were fun to watch the story and feud continue to play out. Delirious showed a lot of intensity and just ran at Aries regardless of consequences. I think the ending continued the feud even more, and there could be a chance that now Titus will feud with Delirious (though I am not sure since Delirious is the booker for ROH now). Aries was excellent. Aries knew his surroundings and knows how to push people to the limit. It was a solid main event and next week it should be even better with the Steel Cage.

Honors – Christopher Daniels vs. Rhett Titus, ROH on HDNet, September 13.

How it ended – After a very good back and forth contest, Christopher Daniels finished off Rhett Titus with a Ura-Nage and followed it up with a BME (Best Moonsault Ever). Daniels pinned Titus for the three count.

Grade: B- (leaned toward a B)

Why it was honors-worthy? I was impressed with the opening bout on the HDNet card. When Titus was in control, he really shined. Honestly, this may have been Rhett Titus’ best match in a while (and he is only getting better!). Daniels took some punishment, but worked a good program with Titus. Overall it was smooth from start to finish. I actually liked Aries’ interaction near the end of the match, Daniels’ experience to let the action play out, and Daniels connecting with the finisher to secure a victory.

*Craig Alan Cope, the previous Student of the Week, was defeated. He posted a 2-4 record.

Among the Faculty, Jeff Springer and Dave Stephens scored the best Night of Champions record at 5-1

Overall, we had 24 “WV Students” and the average amount of wins was 3.08. Since I estimate their results I averaged it out as a 3-3 record for the Students.

Past Students of the Week: Evan O’Brien, TJ Patton, Ricky Langston, Craig Alan Cope, Paul Lyons, SUPERSTARZZ, Jeremy Samples, Josh Logan, Eric Marin, David Sumroy, Crystal Mai, Michael Phillips, Sean Martin, Sam Newstone, Brian Czygan, Luke (Bond7), Austen Allen, Paul Meade, and Frank Contorno.

Mr. V’s Gold Star Segment (By: ColtMerch.com! Since Colt Cabana was kind enough to sit down and answer questions when Dave and I interviewed him on “The Teacher’s Lounge”. I am happy to support him and I actually purchased items. The shipping was fast and the products are great. If you are a fan of ROH or Colt Cabana, check out his products.)

I have a lot to dish out this week. I may have to go and pick some more up. Well, here is the rundown on who got a Gold Star.

Aloisia – She might be the tallest guest we ever had on The Teacher’s Lounge (and probably for a long time). She spent a good portion of her time with Jose Marrero and I and answered every question with her I think honest opinion. I thank her for her time and if she is reading, I wish you the very best.

Jose Marrero – Thank you very much for helping me out on the interview. It was a great experience. I still hoped that Dave likes it.

To the 42 people that sent me their Mid-Year Awards Ballot – You all made this so easy for me to work on. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I hope you will participate in the end of the year awards in the future.

Dave Stephens and Jeff Springer – For getting 5-1 records and earning top honors for the PPV.

Dave Stephens – He does not have to share the chair anymore. He is now the Dean of WrestleView. Let’s see how long it lasts, because Professor Boutwell is very close to the top.

Ken Konarzewski – This guy has been e-mailing us every week with a different question since our first days on The Teacher’s Lounge. Thank You.

Sean Martin, Declan Milligan, Steve Parsons, and all the others who sent us e-mails for the radio show – We read them and answer all of them. Again, thank you for the e-mails. On a side note, thanks Sean for giving me the “title” :).

AJ Lee – Though NXT was a bit bad, AJ really shined and was not bad at all. I see a bit of Melina and now Mickie James in her. That could be a good thing.

Claudio Castagnoli – He earns one for staying “Very European” (I raise my coffee mug to you).

Chris Jericho – For being the best in the world at what he does (except hosting game shows)

Daniel Bryan – Congratulations on the United States Championship victory.

LayCool – They are the new Unified Divas Champions.

Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre – The “Dashing Chosen Ones” (as I may start calling them) won the WWE Tag Team Championships. At this time six months ago, I worried about Rhodes but he is doing a great job. McIntyre on the other hand? He was pushed to the moon and this is hopefully a pick up for him.

Randy Orton – He is the WWE World Champion again, and that is a great thing.

Jay Lethal – He is the NEW TNA X Division Champion. I say it was about time they changed it up a bit. Lethal earned it this time.

CM Punk – First off, I enjoyed his commentary work. I don’t know if any of the readers heard CM Punk say “all we need is a Chihuahua at the announce table and we have a team”. To me, it sounded like a shot (or compliment) from Former Chicago Bear/WCW announcer and wrestler Steve “Mongo” McMichael. See YouTube Clips if you want to see it, but I thought it was hilarious.

Wade Bradford – Thanks for the nominations for detention. All were fantastic!

Katy Perry – Yes! I am actually going to give her a Gold Star because honestly I was having a rough day in a traffic jam and I check for music and on the top it read “Katy Perry and Elmo from Sesame Street”. I am usually not a pop music fan, but this just really made me laugh a bit. Because heck, we all need to laugh once in a while, right.

Homework Assignment (Assignment due in the coming weeks)

Here is a question I would love to get answers from.

Pretend you are the only wrestling organization in town after buying off all the wrestling companies (yes, even Vince McMahon because he won’t live forever). It may take a bit of homework, but here is the question.

Hire 10-15 wrestlers regardless of where they wrestled at. They must be living.

Hire 2-4 women wrestlers as well.

This will be in two weeks, but if I get enough replies I will go over the homework sooner.

Dismissal

Well, that does it for me this week. I thank you all for reading and I hope you enjoyed this column as much as I typed it out. If you want to get a hold of me during the week, please e-mail me at mistervwv@hotmail.com, teacherslounge@hotmail.com, or by leaving me a message on Facebook. I do get a lot of e-mails and may not reply in a timely fashion, but I will do my best to give you a quicker reply.

Now, students you are allowed to leave the classroom. Please push in your chairs, line up straight, and exit to the closest door around you. Until next week, you are all……DISMISSED!!!!

Look for Mr. V on Facebook under Anthony J. Valvo in the Pittsburgh Network

Mr. V FINALLY has Twitter. Follow me and my boring life at http://twitter.com/TheMisterV.

THE TEACHER’S LOUNGE IS NOW AIRING ON SATURDAYS!

This Week’s Guest: Former WWE and Current Independent Wrestler Aloisia (aka Isis The Amazon)

Dave was on assignment for this interview. So Jose Marrero and I had a very crisp, polite interview with a women’s wrestler who has gotten a lot of publicity over the past few weeks. Aloisia was a class act and we thank her (if she is reading) for being a part of the show this week. Her indie work, time in the WWE, and her future plans were discussed.

But wait class! There are more guests!!

Already on the archives we interviewed Jose Marrero (Wrestling Rumblings), Matt O’Brien (Notes from the Nosebleeds), Crystal Mai from Diva-Dirt.com, and The YouTube Sensation who had choice words to CM Punk, and ROH Wrestler Colt Cabana! For $4.99, you get all of this along with many other hours of content from the other shows on the WrestleView Radio Network.

David Stephens (That’s A Wrap and Raw recapper) and I have a weekly Internet show only on the WrestleView Radio Network. It does cost a bit of money, but we will do our best to make it worth it. If you want to be a part of the Lounge for our “E-mails” section, you may drop us a line at teacherslounge@hotmail.com.
