El Terrible Injured

It was announced this week that El Terrible suffered an ankle injury (possibly sprained ankle) in Japan. He’s expected to miss 3 or more weeks at least. Texano Jr. will likely be teaming with his other Los Hijos del Averno brothers more often while Terrible is out.

G1 Tag League
El Terrible & Texano Jr. and Strong Man finished up their tour of Japan this past weekend. Strong Man and his partner, Manabu Nakanishi, made it all the way to the Semifinals where they fell to the IWGP Tag Team Champions No Limit. Terrible & Texano Jr. teamed with Daniel Puder & Iizuka to win an 8-Man Tag where Texano pinned King Fale. Yuji Nagata & Wataru Inoue ended up beating No Limit in the Finals.

Super J Tag League
This week was the start of New Japan’s Super J Tag League which featured stars from CMLL (La Sombra & Mascara Dorada) and Dragon Gate (Masaaki Mochizuki & Super Shisa). After the first week Team CMLL (Dorado & Sombra) leads Block A with 4 points while Team Dragon Gate (Mochizuki & Shisa) are tied for 2nd place (with 3 other teams) in Block B with 2 points. Team CMLL has been officially named Genarcion Dorada (Golden Generation). Sombra and Dorado fell in their first match to the team of legends consisting of Jushin Thunder Liger & El Samurai, but bounced back with wins over Team America (Davey Richards & Rocky Romero) and Team DDT (NOSAWA & FUJITA). Team Dragon Gate’s biggest win was over the former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Champions: Jado & Gedo. Dorado & Sombra are wearing some cool new gear for the tournament which you can see in a few pics from the Tourney below.

Dragon Gate USA Announces First 2011 Dates

This week Dragon Gate USA announced the dates and locations of their first shows of the 2011 year in January. The weekend of January 28-30 DGUSA will hold 3 special events in 3 different cities. On 01/28 at a yet to be announced location but on 01/29 DGUSA will hold an event at the ECW Arena in Philly and then a special event in Union City, New Jersey on 01/30. The 10/30 event will be taking place at the small Ace Arena just outside of Manhattan, New York and the event will be a special “matinee” in the afternoon so fans in attendance can still catch the WWE’s “Royal Rumble” event that night in NYC.
