AAA

Jarrett vs. Mesias Announced

This week AAA confirmed that the much rumored Jeff Jarrett vs. El Mesias AAA Heavyweight Title match for Rey de Reyes PPV is on.

El Hijo del Santo vs. AAA
More info on the previously reported El Hijo del Santo lawsuit against AAA

(http://www.wrestleview.com/viewnews.php?id=1280515021) was released this week. Santo’s lawyer claims that he has already won the case and it’s currently in the settlement stage. This whole thing (if you didn’t feel like clicking the link) is over AAA selling copies of the 2009 TripleMania which featured Santo (he claims that didn’t have the rights to do this). Santo doesn’t just want money out of this, he wants some form of assurance this will never happen again. How in this day and age a company would actually to bring a star in that refuses to allow them to sell the DVD with him on it (which was the main selling poing of the event) is beyond me.

Laredo Kid Going to Puerto Rico
This week it was announced that AAA star Laredo Kid will be going to Puerto Rico where he will tag with former WWE & TNA star Matt Hardy on May 26th for PRWA Evolution. I say AAA star because to everyone’s knowledge he is still signed to AAA, but he hasn’t wrestled for AAA in months (other than spot shows here and there).

Where Are They Now?!: “Insane Luchador” Super Crazy

The “Insane Luchador” made a name for himself in America as Super Crazy for Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s with his insane dives and high spots as well as feuds with Yoshihiro Tajiri & Little Guido, but following the former ECW Television Champion he has had much less of an American presence until his disappointing WWE run in the mid 2000’s. Following the closure of ECW Crazy he traveled to Puerto Rico and began working full time there as well as making appearances for ECW-wannabe American promotions CZW & XPW. Crazy’s return to Mexico was uneventful until he made a surprise return to AAA (where he had previously wrestled as the original Histeria before taking the Super Crazy name) at the 2001 “Verano de Escandalo” PPV event. He continued to make appearances off and on with AAA as well as working all over Mexico and America on the independent scene. Crazy even competed at the inaugural Ring of Honor event against Lucha Libre legend Eddie Guerrero for the new IWA Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship.

Crazy made four tours of New Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan between 2002 and 2003 putting on a string of great matches with fellow high flyers of the Orient. Crazy also made an appearance for TNA in 2003 in a match against fellow ECW alumni Jerry Lynn. In 2004 made a lengthy return to Japan but this time for Zero-1 where he won the Zero-1 International Jr. Heavyweight Title. In the summer of 2005 WWE recruited Crazy for their ECW tribute show “One Night Stand” where he, Tajiri, & Little Guido rekindled their ECW magic in another stellar 3-Way Dance between the men. His performance was good enough to earn him a full time contract with the WWE and later that summer he along with fellow lucha legends Psicosis & Juventud Guerrera debuted in WWE under the Mexicools (technically this was Crazy’s RETURN to WWE as he had made several appearances for the WWE in the early 90’s under the Super Loco name), a stereotypical Mexican gimmick where they came to the ring in jumpsuits and riding lawnmowers dubbed “Juan Deer.”

Crazy’s time as member of the Mexicools did result in some great Cruiserweight action but did very little for his career, and by the summer of 2006 both Psicosis and Juventud had been fired by WWE leaving Crazy alone in the WWE. Crazy moved to the RAW brand and had brief feuds with both Chris Masters & John Morrison before suffering a knee injury in early 2007. Crazy got arguably his biggest win in WWE when he shocked Mr. Kennedy (who was in the middle of a big push at the time) by rolling him up during his entrance. Shortly after Crazy formed a horrible tag team with Jim Duggan before being drafted to ECW. Crazy spent less than 2 months in ECW (mainly losing to Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson in a brief feud) before asking and being granted his release from the WWE.

Following his time in WWE Crazy returned to Mexico and hit the ground running wrestling all over the country especially for Perro Aguayo Jr.’s new Perros del Mal promotion where he took the hair of X-Fly not long after returning to Mexico. Crazy also returned to Puerto Rico working for the IWA (International Wrestling Association) promotion and he also got a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against then champion Blue Demon Jr. at an INDY event in Texas. Crazy has wrestled for virtually every INDY promotion in Mexico as well as wrestling all over the United States, Germany, and for both All Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan. Crazy has also made sporadic appearances for AAA over the last few years and has become a staple of the Perros del Mal and IWL INDY promotions. Crazy could easily receive a contract from either CMLL or AAA (or from TNA for that matter) but choices to wrestle virtually everywhere rather than be settled with one company, and he continues to impress despite reaching nearly 40 years old (and yes he’s still diving off balconies!). Crazy currently holds 3 championships: the IWL International Tag Team Titles (with Scorpio Jr.), the XNL Championship, and NWE Cruiserweight Champion (in Europe). Crazy is currently touring Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan and he and Ricky Marvin will be challenging for the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships this month.
