CMLL

CMLL Live Streaming

Websiter Terra.com has begun streaming 3 live matches from Sunday Arena Mexico events (the 3 early matches that usually get cut from TV). Every one that has seen the streams say that the video quality puts all of the iPPV’s done in America to shame and the security for the streams also make it almost impossible to record them. So why isn’t CMLL trying their hand at iPPV’s? You’re guess is as good as mine.

CMLL Introduces New Mistico
This week CMLL held a press conference at Arena Mexico and introduced a new “Mistico.” Fray Tormenta (who is the “priest” who adopted and trained the original Mistico in his gimmick back story) introduced young luchador Dragon Lee as the new Mistico and presented him with the Mistico mask. It has been rumored ever since the original Mistico left CMLL to go to the WWE to become Sin Cara that they would be creating a new Mistico and now that have made good on it. Pics of the press conference are below courtesy of www.mediotiempo.com:

Cubsfan over at the luchablog (www.thecubsfan.com/cmll) has a great run down of this decision and great rant on how frustrating CMLL (and AAA) in not just this situation but in how they handle things in the public eye.

AAA

TNA/TripleMania Update

In this week’s Wrestling Observer they reveal that both Jeff Jarrett and Abyss of TNA are confirmed for TripleMania (Abyss is on the poster) and they want to bring in one more big star with Kurt Angle’s name continuing to be the one brought up the most. Jeff Hardy has also been mentioned but can’t work in Mexico due to his previous felony conviction. The Observer also claims that Dorian Roldan’s team for the big Seconds Hair vs. Hair Match at TripleMania against his brother Joaquin will likely be made up of mostly TNA stars.

AAA 06/16 TV Taping Results
1) Aerostar, Argenis, & Atomic Boy def. Gran Apache, Tito Santana II, & Semental
2) Joe Lider def. Psicosis
3) Halloween, Dark Dragon, & Pete Powers def. Juventud Guerrera, Extreme Tiger, & Daga

5) Perro Aguayo Jr., Hector Garza, & Chessman def. Cibernetico, Electroshock, & El Zorro
* NOTES *
– AAA make up a new rule where all El Consejo and PdM members have to team with whoever they say (uh okay). El Consejo’s Semental was not happy about having to team with AAA rudos in the opener so after the match Texano & Mascara ran out and attacked the AAA wrestlers until Wagner & Silver Kain ran out for the save.
– Lider beat Psicosis clean with a knee to the head. They did an injury angle here so I don’t know what that means for Psicosis or this feud.
– PdM’s Pete Powers made his AAA debut in the 3rd match replacing Teddy Hart. Daga turned on Juvi during the match to set up the rudos win. Daga claimed that he grew up idolizing Juvi and now he know’s Juvi isn’t that great and Daga says he is the greatest luchador today.
– Hombre de Negro ran out during the Semi-Main and helped El Consejo win once again. He finally took off the mask and revealed himself to be Mascara Ano 2000 Sr.!
– After the Main Event Dorian Roldan challenged Joaquin to put his hair on the line in a Seconds Hair vs. Hair Match where they would each pick teams and if their team loses then Joaquin or Dorian will have to shave their head (this will obviously be for TripleMania). The lights then went out and when they came back on Vampiro was in the ring attacking Chessman. Yay, Vampiro has returned yet again just so he can leave yet again with no reason!
– One big match was officially announced for TripleMania, a 3-Way Dance featuring 3 tag teams that have been broken up for quite some time (and all of the teams enemies now). It will be the former Hart Foundation 2.0 (Jack Evans & Teddy Hart) vs. the former La Familia de Tijuana (Halloween & Extreme Tiger) vs. the former La Hermandad 187 (Psicosis & Joe Lider) with the losing team then immediately facing each other in a Hair/Mask Match!

LUCHA MATCH SPOTLIGHT

AAA Cruiserweight Championship
Extreme 4-Corners Elimination Match
“From The Heavens” Jack Evans (c) vs. Juventud Guerrera vs. Teddy Hart vs. Psicosis
May 19, 2012

Weapons are already scattered around ringside as the luchadors make their entrance. Interesting dynamics here is the history between the wrestlers. Evans & Hart were longtime friends and tag team partners as Hart Foundation 2.0 and are now bitter enemies and have been feuding ever since Hart returned to AAA earlier this year. Juvi and Psicosis are high flying legends in Mexico and were partners as well as enemies in WCW before becoming members of the Mexicools together (with Super Crazy) in WWE several years ago. They, along with Rey Misterio Jr., are responsible for the popularity of high flying wrestling being raised in the 90s. Of course everyone remembers the fight between Jack Evans and Juventud Guerrera backstage several years ago after Juvi blamed Evans for a prank (which X-Pac actually pulled) that lead to Juvi pressing charges on Evans (and Konnan). As the match starts Evans goes right after Hart but Psicosis pulls him off and the two rudos beat on Evans as Juvi watches. Finally Juvi comes over and starts beating on Evans as well but Hart pulls him away. Evans fights back with kicks to both Psicosis & Hart and then Juvi charges at him but Evans gets his boots up. Psicosis kicks Evans back down and the rudos put the boots to him as the fans boo. Hart shoves Juvi and then he and Psicosis take turns chopping Evans on the ropes. They whip Evans into the ropes and then go for a Double Clothesline but Evans flips under it to avoid it only to run right into a Spinning Back Kick from Juvi. Evans then stumbles into a Double Suplex from Psicosis & Hart! As they have Evans up in the air Juvi springboards off the ropes into a Springboard Missile Dropkick to Evans as Psicosis & Hart Double Suplex him! Juvi grabs Evans and hits a DVD into a facebreaker over his knee! Juvi slaps Evans repeatedly and then he and Psicosis each grab one of Evans’ legs and lift him up into the air and drop him down onto a Backstabber from Hart! Juvi covers Evans and gets a nearfall before Psicosis breaks it up for some reason. Psicosis chops Juvi and then sends him out to the floor. Psicosis grabs Hart and attempts to whip him into the ropes but Hart reverses it only to eat a stiff Lariat from Psicosis! Psicosis follows up with a Suplex dropping Hart onto the top rope and then kicking him out to the floor! Evans comes flying out of nowhere with a Springboard Spinning Enziugri on Psicosis! Evans then hits a Running Dropkick to Juvi as he came back into the ring and actually bounces off of Juvi into a Moonsault on Psicosis! He covers Psicosis but only gets a 2 count. Hart grabs Evans and hits a Belly-to-Back Suplex flipped into a Bulldog! Juvi comes over and kicks at Hart but he avoids it and then rolls Juvi up! 1…2…NO Juvi counters into a Fujiwara Armbar! Psicosis breaks the hold with a sliding dropkick! Juvi and Psicosis exchange stiff chops and then Psicosis blocks a clothesline attempt and counters into a Reverse Roll of the Dice! Hart hits a Backstabber on Juvi and then he lifts Juvi up on onto his shoulders as Psicosis dives off the top with the Psycho Guillotine onto Juvi as Hart had him lifted in the air! Psicosis looks to pin Juvi but Hart grabs him and German Suplexes him! Hart then grabs Juvi and hits a Front Slam followed by a Split Legged Moonsault! 1…2…NO Juvi kicks out and then Evans comes in and kicks Hart! Jack then hits a Spinning Round Kick to Juvi sending him to the floor! Evans sets up for a dive but Hart catches him with a Snap Powerslam! Juvi & Psicosis fight on the outside and Hart hits a GORGEOUS Asai Moonsault off the top onto both of them! Evans then hits a Springboard 450 onto everyone on the floor! Evans rolls Juvi back into the ring and covers him, 1…2…NO Juvi kicks out! On the outside Psicosis hits Hart with a trashcan and then tosses it in the ring. Evans attempts to whip Juvi into the corner but Juvi reverses it and then hits a Running Dropkick. Juvi follows up with a series of knees to Evans followed by a Pump Handle Slam onto the top turnbuckle! Juvi picks Evans up and hits a Brainbuster! 1…2…NO Hart breaks it up! Juvi locks Evans in a Dragon Sleeper now! Hart grabs Juvi and puts him in a Front Chancery and then lifts him into the air and hits a NASTY Cradle DDT! 1…2…NO Juvi kicks out and Hart argues with the referee! Psicosis comes in and blasts Hart with a chair and then does the same to everyone else! Psicosis drags Hart to the floor and tosses him headfirst into a shopping cart! Psicosis grabs a ladder and slides it in the ring. He tosses it onto Juvi and then drags Juvi out to the floor and lays him out on a table at ringside! Psicosis climbs up top and gets ready to dive off onto Juvi until Joe Lider runs out and blasts Psicosis with a chair! Juvi gets off the table and Lider pours a bag of tacks out onto the table! He then climbs up top with Psicosis and Death Valley Drivers Psicosis off the top through the table! Psicosis is put on a stretcher and is now eliminated from the match because he can’t continue. In the ring Hart hits Canadian Destroyer (Flip Piledriver) on Juvi and then follows up with the Hart Destroyer (Double Underhook Flip Piledriver)! Evans quickly runs over and kicks Hart in the head and then hits him with a knee. Evans sets up for something but Hart shoves him away and then grabs Evans and hits a Sitout Powerbomb! Hart grabs Evans and attempts another Powerbomb but Evans counters into a Sunset Flip, but Hart rolls through it and dead lifts Evans back up into the air and into the Teddy Bomb (Powerbomb Backstabber)! 1…2…NO Evans kicks out! Hart goes for the Hart Rate (Belly-to-Back Suplex flipped into a Powerbomb) but Evans reverses into a hurricanrana! 1…2…NO Hart kicks out as well! Hart comes back with a punch to the gut and then lifts Hart up into the air and flips him into a Diamond Cutter! 1…2…NO Evans kicks out again! Hart gets pissed at the referee and argues that it was a 3. He then picks Evans up and lifts him up to the top rope and climbs up with him. Hart sets up for a Superana but Juvi comes from behind and crotches him on the top and then slams him to the mat! Evans dives off the top with the 630 Splash on Hart and then Juvi dives off with the 450 Splash on Hart as well! Juvi covers Hart, 1…2…3! Evans gives Juvi a fist bump and then immediately swings at him but Juvi drops down to his back and then nips back up and Evans springboards off the ropes with a Moonsault. Juvi ducks under it and Evans lands on his feet. Evans goes for a Spinning Back Kick but Juvi catches his foot and then flips Evans but Evans lands on his feet again! Evans hits the ropes and eats a VICIOUS lariat from Juvi! 1…2…NO Evans kicks out! Juvi hits the ropes but Evans catches him with a Backslide and then Evans even floats over into a bridge further holding Juvi down with one of the more insane pin attempts you’ll ever see! 1…2…NO Juvi still kicks out! Evans argues with the referee and then hits the ropes but Juvi catches him with a Backbreaker followed by a T-Bone Suplex! 1…2…NO Evans gets his foot on the bottom rope! Juvi picks Evans up and hits Brainbuster over his knee! 1…2…NO Evans kicks out again! Juvi covers Evans again and again only gets a 2 count as Juvi starts showing some frustration. Juvi whips Evans into the corner but Evans shows off that athleticism by spring boarding out of the corner into a backflip over the top rope to the apron. Evans then hits Juvi with a round kick and climbs up top but Juvi crotches him on the top. Juvi then climbs up with Evans but shoves him and Juvi falls back hanging off the top rope as his legs were hung up in the turnbuckles! Evans dives off the top into a Diving Doublt Foot Stomp on the hanging Juvi! 1…2…NO Juvi still kicks out! Evans climbs up top again and attempts the 630 but Juvi rolls out of the way. Evans lands on his feet and goes for a clothesline but Juvi blocks it and then counters into the Final Justice (Pump Handle GTS)! 1…2…3! Juvi is the new champ!

Winner & NEW Cruiserweight Champ: Juvi via pinfall (Final Justice)

(It’s cool to see 2 of the better high flyers in lucha today in the ring with two of my favorite high flyers from back in the day. Juvi and Psicosis can still go (though Psicosis has lost alot of his confidence and relies too much on the hardcore stuff now, but when he wants to just wrestle he can do it). The hardcore stuff mixed in was fine but it’s one of the many reasons I get so frustrated with AAA. This match didn’t need to have the Extreme stipulation; those 4 could have had such a great match without all that. Yes, I understand that the Extreme/No DQ stipulation gave them an out so that Lider could come out and further his thing with Psicosis but it could have been done another way too. The majority of the match was the Teddy Hart show with him showing off his cool offense. It was mainly a spotfest but an entertaining as hell one and it got really good when it came down to Evans and Juvi. It’s cool to see two guys that had alot of personal problems with each other be able to put that aside and put on some great stuff. One frustrating point, though, is the breaking up of pins. I can’t stand that in Elimination Matches. It makes no sense to break up an elimination. ****)
